Best Buy Customer Reviews

I finally decided to get rid of DSL and buy the triple threat Time Warner Cable package. The internet was only $10 extra, while my DSL was costing $60 from Verizon.
I'm serious about my internet needs and did a ton of research on a new router. The key elements for me were price, performance and easy installation.
And even after my research, I was prepared to be unhappy with my purchase decision had it failed across any of these 3 criteria.
Results: Fantastic speed, literally 4.5Xs faster than my old DSL router/service. Check.
Price was actually more than I wanted to pay but the package had a very helpful comparison chart on the back...and so the benefits to the dual band and 4-USB ports etc..while not their most expensive, seemed to be what I needed. Check.
The set-up was automatic and couldn't have been easier. One con is, to change the Network Name and the password it came with seemed like too much of a bother, so I used theirs. In the scheme of things, that's OK...the whole family has switched-over to this network and all is golden.
Definitely worth your consideration.
Try it...you'll like it...

Absolutely the worst!

Set up wasn't bad but it constantly dropped the signal and areas of our house couldn't even get signal! Returned it in under 48 hours!

Great router, provided you have a fast ISP

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a dual band router to use in a 2k square foot home. It took about 10 minutes to set up and so far not one hiccup (2 months). The router is located in my basement (due to At&t) and my wife can stream netflix on her iPad on the 2nd floor without a problem, though there can be a few slow downs during high traffic times. Also, keep in mind that your service provider will dictate your internet speeds, don't go off router speeds as a base of judging the router itself.

Not for me

This router was not able to support my husband and I with our 2 phones, 2 iPads, a tablet, a game system/or streaming movie. In a single story home. We typically had 3 items going at once and the speed was very slow, so we returned router, and upgraded.

Don't Buy This!

I'm on wireless router number 4 over the years, being a previous owner of Netgear, Linksys, Dlink and now Belkin. Less than 24 hours after acquiring the Belkin N600 've already decided to return it and buying a Dlink!.
The N600 can't connect to one of my PCs (which has previously been connected to a Dlink) and there is very little debug available on it(no link lights even). Also by default it creates separate subnets for wired vs Wifi devices and they can't talk to each other. Thus, that shared network printer is only accessible by a some devices. There doesn't seem to be a way to change the WiFi IP address pool.
And unlike other routers ,you need a CD to get access to the admin web site on it.
Wireless routers should be painless but this one isn't!!!!!!

I work with technology for long time, and I consider myself a pretty advanced user for all kind of technologies, and one of my favorites is actually wireless.
This is not the first time that I try to get out of Linksys by acquiring different routers from different brands, being very honest I felt on Belkin due to the price, and the promises which were coming together on the box diagrams.
Sounded interesting and pretty atractive.
So, I bought it and took home, put to work and so far so good, the basic was working pretty well.
My first issue, I changed some configurations and by the time that I refreshed the DHCP my computer was gave a different IP address. So I tried to connect again the Settings for the router and for my surprise I received a message saying that a different IP address was already logged as administrator...reset button works pretty well.
Other items that I tried to put to work ndso far a week later couldn't do it, the USB port neither a print or USB storage device were identified.
Network coverage is the same as my Linksys WRT54GS from 4 years ago.

Great router for the price .

I picked up one of these routers for a friend earlier this afternoon for her apt . Found it a breeze to hook up and install .
Only took me 15 mins. start to finish .
Not one hang up .
The performance is great for the price also .
If you want a router that can handle four devices at a reasonable price that has a good amount of performance ?
Go check out the Belkin N600 Dual-Band Wireless-N+ Router .
Good bang for the buck .

Great Speed - Set Up Not for Amateurs!
Posted by: DeeKoay from: on
I have noticed a definite increase in speed over my network and a dramatic decrease in lost connectivity. However, the setup process is not intuitive and often confusing.
For some reason this router also seems to cause the wireless hardware in laptops to turn off occasionally when the laptop is put to sleep or shut down, requiring it to be turned back on by pushing the wireless button on the function keys. It happens rarely with all three laptops in my home, but it is something that never happened with my previous wireless routers.
I am disappointed that my printer does not seem to work with it although it has a USB port for printers. Although the router software tells me the printer is connected, it does not seem to be able to set it up and gives no error message to explain why.

overall good router but has lots quriks

i also found this router a pain to set up and not user friendly at all ..the best way to use this is turn it on and let your computer find it then use the belkin ip address to configure your settings.192.168.2.1..then you have the fun of dealing with the router setup and configuring that they have made more difficult than it needed to be. 40 seconds to apply any changes then if you dont remember to log out you cant log back on it and i found the self healing would screw up my computers with windows 7 every time it ran..thus the reason not to use the cd it puts belkin wireless manager on your computer and now you have two things trying to run your wireless and with my windows 7 computers the self healing would change settings and my computers wouldnt recognize any internet so id have to reset my adapter on the computer to get it working again..i did get it all figured out and the range is very good but if you dont know anything about networking then this router may not be for you..

Great Price, but Junk
Posted by: genestarr from: on
Purchased the router and it was ok for the first week and then it started having spotty signal. Only way to get the signal to come back was to reboot it. My phone and computers were getting a more consistent signal from the xfinity wifi a 1/4 mile away. The "self heal" technology was interesting and ended up being it's only saving grace. You could set it to reboot periodically. I got a wifi signal app for my phone and surmised that there were quite a few wifi signals in my neighborhood, and the competing wifi traffic was eating this router for breakfast. Rebooting would find a channel with the least traffic. One day it would be on channel 1, the next day channel 3, the next day channel 6 or 11. I also employ an extender, which would simply repeat the signal to my back yard. I had a D-Link Router from the early 2000's that performed better and replaced it with this one. My "testing" period lasted more than 15 days, so I now cannot return it. I guess routers are like ketchup, don't buy cheap and expect it to taste good. Ended up purchasing a better brand name to place into the wifi combat zone.
