A consistently good/great band! Posted by: from: Rockford, IL on I remember when Winger first broke onto the scene in 1988. I was knee deep into thrash music and didn't have much time for many in that (cough) glam scene, but for some reason I had time for Winger. I've always enjoyed their ability to write fun songs and what I consider listenable ballads. I've enjoyed all of their albums, because they have not only matured in their writing abilities, but they haven't sacrificed their oh so humble beginnings. In fact, they may have gotten better with each album? Though my favorite might still be "Pull" (1993), due to the fact that the album let the listener know you couldn't pigeonhole this band. We jettison to 2014's "Better Days Comin' " and the five years since the very solid "Karma" was released. Maybe I give this band more of an opportunity to take me on a musical journey than others within the same genre, because many of their contemporaries I simply can't listen to anymore. For instance, on Def Leppard's latest self titled album, I find myself "wanting/hoping" to like songs. Their opener on that album is "Let's Go", which is nothing more than a recycled riff of "Pour Some Sugar On Me", which by the way, is an awful song. But I digress. Winger, simply doesn't employ such tactics or gimmicks, nor have they over the years. The riffs sound fresh and the musical collaboration between Kip Winger and Reb Beach sounds organic, so much so, it is as if they're playing together for the first time. There really isn't a song that I don't enjoy on this latest masterpiece, but I find myself occasionally skipping "Tin Soldier". That song best represents Kip's fondness of his progressive rock yearnings, which are Yes, King Crimson and Jethro Tull. My favorites are the opening track "Midnight Driver of a Love Machine", "Queen Babylon", "Better Days Comin'", "Ever Wonder", "So Long China" and "Another Beautiful Day". I probably won't revisit the DVD of this deluxe edition all that much, but I understand the intent behind it. If I were a musician, I think it's a nice blue print on how ideas come together and how musical pieces come to fruition. Granted, it doesn't show you the bickering between musicians that often take place, but that probably has more to do with twenty five plus years of working together. The two videos are a nice add on feature as well. Enjoy...

Classic Winger Posted by: from: on Winger is back with new songs and the 80's sound. I first saw Winger as an opening act and have been a fan ever since.Kip is still an amazing vocalist. If you like 80's style music, you will like this CD.

Winger!!! Posted by: from: on Winger are back!! Kip and co. can still rock like it was 20 years ago. This cd is an all new affair, no retreads, or outtakes from 20 years ago. Great to have the DVD, but would prefer a live show, instead of this. Still it ROCKS!!

Great Winger album Posted by: from: phoenix, az on Many songs are like the old winger, good hard rock, great musicians and maybe some corny lyrics but you gotta love it. Other songs are more like solo Kip Winger, much slower, more progressive. Some catchy tunes. Only downfall is a couple of the songs are very mellow and didn't make a great impression. Overall it is great!

Classic Rock From great Musicians Posted by: from: Wappingers Falls,NY on Winger keeps doing what they do best, Writing great songs in that classic 70's to 80's Rock sound. Kip's Voice is still on the money and Reb on Guitar continues to bust out crazy headbanging riffs. I rate this album, a little like karma and more towards the IV album.

not a metal album Posted by: from: on The album has some good rockers on it but I wouldn't classify it as a metal album. It does grow on you the more you listen to it though.

band trying to stay alive Posted by: from: Sinking Spring, PA on Disc starts out rocking but loses steam and slows down. Band needs to think harder about their next disc if they stay together.
