Biography: Attila - The Scourge of God This program presents the story of the warrior known as Atilla the Hun. In the fifth century, he began his campaigns from his homeland in Eastern Europe, bringing terror and death to all in his path. His holdings stretched from the Mediterranean into Western Europe. He was called the "scourge of God" because he lay waste to much of the Holy Roman Empire. Finally defeated by a joint effort of the Romans and the Barbarians in Gaul, Atilla died of alcohol poisoning during his wedding celebration. Reenactments, period artwork, and commentary by historians tell the story of one of the most capable and ruthless commanders in history. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, Rovi
