Fantastic Posted by: from: on I was floored as to how genuinely good this music is. My taste has always been to experimental or the avant-garde. If you're fan of or are looking for pop music, don't bother. This is not 'Let's Dance'. The fact is that if you like progressive (Pink Floyd, King Krimson, Roxy Music), jazz and/or avant-garde music, you'll love this as much as a visit from a long lost friend. David, we'll miss 'ya! May you R.I.P.

Great music Posted by: from: on I cried when I heard of his loss but he left a different part of him with this new different music what a genius the sound is somewhat of a fusion of jazz and change that is hard to explain I've never heard anything like this Bravo RIP

Out With A Bang Posted by: from: on It's unfortunate the circumstances surrounding this album but David did it again. I love his more industrial sound. The two stand out tracks for me are Lazarus and I Can't Give Everything Away, which are probably the least industrial tracks on the album. Unfortunately there are only seven tracks on the cd but it is a strong cd throughout.

One of Bowie's best recordings!!! Posted by: from: on Blackstar is one of David Bowie's best recordings ever released! Overall, it has a jazzy, atmospheric and minimalist feel with good grooves sprinkled throughout. The tracks Blackstar and Lazarus are probably the most accessible of the bunch, but I really like Tis a Pity She Was a Wh0re, Dollar Days and I Can't Give Everything Away where the musicians are let loose to improvise freely. Bowie was clearly extremely generous with the musicians he worked with, by letting them express themselves and not dictating every note they played. True genius.

Not Bowie's Best Posted by: from: on Initially, I was enthusiastic when I heard about this album. Thinking about Bowie's voice during his "mid years", I figured he'd be capable of pulling of a jazz-based album, similar to Pat Benater's "True Blue" blues album. Unfortunately, unlike "True Blue", which was outstanding, Bowie wasn't quite able to pull it off. Am I disappointed that I purchased this album? Not in the least, for, being his final album, before his untimely death, it will be remembered for years to come. If he hadn't passed away, and released a second jazz-based album, would I have purchased that one? Probably not. Truthfully, this album deserves only a 2-star rating, but, considering the effort he put into it, I bumped the rating up by one star.

Bowie is a Genius! Amazing Music! Posted by: from: on This is David Bowie's last CD. He made this CD while he was undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. This CD is GENIUS! Bowie was ART. Everything Bowie orchestrated during his life was ART. This was his Grand Finale!. I'm told there were more tracks recorded at the time he made this CD but the decision for their release belongs to his wife Iman. Bowie poured his heart and soul into this CD. His ability to keep it entirely secret, by requiring the musicians to sign a gag clause was genius. His decision to keep his illness a secret has boggled minds. This CD brings comfort to mourning fans. Bowie Lives ON!
