BEST PHONE I HAVE EVER USED...
Posted by: DavidB from: Chico,CA on
I purchased new Vivo on Amazon and Best Buy sent it to me. I had my phone in about 2 to 3 days. I am so glade that I purchased it because I absolutely love it. It is so perfect in every way. The screen is big and bright and full of color. The battery is also doing GREAT considering the screen size, I got it at 9am at 90% and it is now 9:10pm and I still am at 41% and I have been on it for at least 5 hours straight. The speaker is on the bottom of the phone which I love because it is so much louder that way. The feel of the phone makes u feel like u are holding a over priced iPhone but for a quarter of the price. The camera is working great for me so far, meaning it does what I need it to, which is just taking fast shots of my 2 kids and wife when needed. The microphone port is way louder then the Vivo XL. I have only had this phone for 1 day but so far I really can't name a negative thing about it... I live in Northern California and the 4G LTE has been working great all day. The screen is very responsive and clear and all the speakers are super loud. I believe this is also one of the best feeling phones I have ever held in my hand, someone did a great job Making it fit into the hands of a 6 foot tall person. I will update my post if I find any cons to post.... If u have quest u can ask me I might have the answer :-)
UPDATED REVIEW: Still saying this phone is the best phone i have ever used. No problems so far. Really cant ask for more from a 199$ or even a 400$ phone. Everything is great on it still, Battery a full day from 7 AM 100% down to about 39% by 10 PM. Keep in mind i watch videos on it for about a hour and a half every day with head phones at the gym and text and browse the internet constantly. Feels great in the had... i mean Blu out did them self's with the great build and craftsmanship. I will update this post again in a week or 2....
This is my final review.... Everything i said above is true. This is the best phone i have ever had for the money. Still no problems. Battery is great last me a day and a half. Running super fast and have not had any software glitches. I will say it again. Best phone for the money.

Great Value, Solid Phone
Posted by: jgreen3401 from: on
First, if you are looking for an unlocked solid phone on a budget, this could be it. I am on ATT so my primary concern was that this phone only has LTE bands 2, 4, 7. The Vivo XL has all 5 LTE bands but that one isn't available. I've never seen it available; so I took the plunge on this larger ROM/RAM phone and all metal twin of the Vivo xl. So far this phone has no issues with LTE and I get LTE 80% or 90% of the time and 4G the rest. The phone has 32GB so I was happy with that when compared to XL. The phone is about the exact size of the IPhone 6Plus and the actual screen is larger than the 6Plus. The screen itself is perfect with no issue; I'm not a screen junkie though. You cannot tell it's lower pixel density. The Blu skin for Android is nice but not perfect. I do like, NOT having an app drawer; unlike others. This to me, is more like Apple ios since all apps on screens and you can create folders. The phone is all metal no plastic and its slim and nicely built.
I have no sound issues and watching videos is nice.
I've had this phone a week and I will say that I was catching a 4G signal in certain malls and coffee shops(that are known for poor signal areas) when my wife's iPhone(ATT) wasn't getting any signal at all. So my fears are gone about the signal issue and I do get LTE.
I guess it depends on the area you live in as well; so I would try it and then return it within their 14 day window if you get poor signal.

Great smarthphone, best value for the price
Posted by: Inspirator from: on
I have to say that this is a great smartphone overall, 2 weeks using constantly the device to work and personal life (dual sim). The design is gorgeus, looks like a big iphone 5, the size of the Note 3 and slim almost like iPhone 6.
It comes with a soft transparent case and screen protector (plastic film).
The battery duration is more than enough for a full day, even if I shared as hotspot, played some youtube videos during day, sending emails at least 1-2 per hour. I come from an Xperia Z3+ dual sim, I was frustrated because of the overheating problems on the snapdragon 810 proccessor, so I switch to a phone that cost me just 1/3 of my super hot smartphone.... Im so happy now, no overheating, everything smooth as I want. I only miss the camera quality, isnt bad in the vivo 5, but 21MP and 60fps is an important difference vs 13MP and 30 fps. Also the graphics is a noticeable downgrade for me, but I dont care because I dont use my phone to play a lot, I only like to do multimedia as much to be fun on my free time.
Talking a little more about the graphics, I ran the antutu benchmark in my Xperia Z3+ (snapdragon 810 x64) vs the Blu Vivo 5 (Mediatek MT6753), and the conclusion: the Vivo 5 barely beats the Z3+ related to multitasking and apps management (very important to me), but about the GPU performance, the Z3+ scored 3 more times the Vivo 5, so isn't a great phone to play games that demands hardcore graphics. Maybe the snapdragon 615 (1st processor competitor actually) has better GPU performance than the MT6752 in the Vivo 5, but Im pretty sure that isnt better about apps proccesses&multitasking demans.
Antutu benchmark scores 38200-38500 usually.
Points to keep in mind before buy:
- The slots for the sims: Is dual sim, yes; but you can't place a MicroSD and 2 sims at the same time, you should decide If you carry 1 sim + MicroSD or 2 sims. Also, the size for the sims is 1 nanosim & 1 microsim. For me 32 gbs is more than enough at the moment. I prefer to use with 2 sims.
- The app interface doesn't have app dock. It means, if you are thinking that you will hit a button in which you will open all your available apps, you are wrong; all the apps are over your 1st screen (multiple screens if you need more space for your apps). So, make folders and categorize as needed will be the best strategy in this case on my POV. I don't like to download apps as ADW that gives me an "app dock", it demands resources and I felt my usage experience slow and clumpsy.
Issues with phone at the moment (not considered as failure, just issues):
- 2 days ago I noticed that my Wifi download/upload speed was 1-50Kb/s as maximum (you can activate a function on the top to view the exact download speed all time, nice feature), so that's is extremely low when I'm usually downloading at least 1-1.5Mb/s. I tried deleting many apps, including the smart app to close all the processes & save battery. After test and error, the solution: Bluetooth was on (to stay always synced with my Basis Peak smartwatch). After place the bluetooth to off, I started to download at high speeds as expected. Weird effect about bluetooth on Wifi, maybe interference of the signals or a bug that creates a misfunction on the Wifi.
Well, Im very satisfied and happy with the purchase, it worths the $200 by far.

Exceptional quality phone for the price
Posted by: Tyroar from: on
-Great build quality. It feels extremely solid in hand, though very light weight.
-The screen is nice and colorful. It is quite bright as well. You can see it just fine with sun glare.
-The system is very snappy to respond. I've yet to experience any type of system lag.
-The capacatative buttons provide excellent tactile feedback.
-Call quality and service seem to work exceptionally well. (I read somewhere the metal housing can interfere with band 12/17 from optimally functioning in this phone, which could explain why they left those bands out?)
-The speakers are located at the bottom of the device.
-The notification LED reminds me of Eva from Wall-E
-Non replaceable battery (to be fair, the battery life is pretty good on the phone, I just enjoy the option to replace if needed.)
-They have an odd UI that I personally didn't like. (They remove the app drawer, you drag up to access quick settings)
-More bloatware than I am personally used to on BLU devices.

Partner loves it
Posted by: Emily from: Wisconsin on
My partner and I have been using BLU devices for a few years now, because the price point and quality are spot-on for what we want. We have not yet had a BLU device fail in any way, so I felt pretty good about surprising him with their 2016 flagship, despite it being new and thus largely untested for longevity (my own device was their 2014 flagship, and it's still going strong 2 years later).
A word of caution if you plan to use dual SIM and an SD card simultaneously; with this one, you can't. The pop-out tray for (micro) SIM/SD has only 2 slots; SIM2 is the same slot as the SD card. He only uses one SIM card and an SD, so not an issue in this case, but something to be aware of.
He disliked the lack of app dock (literally his only complaint with the android platform preinstalled on it), so I replaced the launcher with ADW, and he now has an appdock and a bunch of customization features to make it feel more like what he was used to. The hardware is more than sufficient to do this, and runs like a champ. He has yet to figure out how many programs he has to run to slow it down notably, despite trying. The sound leaves a bit to be desired (what phone audio doesn't, though?), but we haven't tried any third-party mixers to even it out, so I can't say if it's the program or the hardware; it's not bad enough to bother with, honestly.
He's only had it for a short time, since it was just released, but he's thrilled with it so far. He loves the new USB port (that it's reversible) but loves even more that his battery doesn't die if he forgets to charge it or can't because he doesn't have the right cord, even when he has GPS and bluetooth/wifi on all day. Screen-on time seems to run about 6 hours between charges. The camera is wonderful, and the program options and filters that come with it are great -I even took a picture out a sunny window from across a large room (usually a no-go), and the details were surprisingly crisp and clear. The screen is large, bright, and responsive, and the device weighs very little for the size. It came with a crystal-clear protective soft case so you can still see the lovely aluminum body, and it looks great in person, case or no. The build quality and feel is no less than I'd expect given prior experience with BLU, and indeed, seems nicer than the other devices we've bought at roughly the same price.
Overall, a great device, especially for the price. After playing around with his, I'd honestly get one for myself -it's REALLY nice, and I've drooled over it more than a bit- but I hardly use my phone despite being a techienerd, what I have still works and is entirely sufficient for my use so I can't justify replacing it. If mine dies, however, this will probably be my replacement.

OK so I have owned around 20 cell phones in my life and been around and played with close to 40 (because we all know that when a friend gets a new phone we want to check it out) I can tell u this much having owned apple, Samsung, HTC and Blu and LG, that this is my 4th Blu phone and definitely not my last. In my house right now different members own an iphone6s, LG g style, a note 4 and my vivo5. I have been previously more attracted to the Blu Studio series line because they didn't look like an iPhone while the vivo line has always had a look of an iPhone. But when I saw this phone and the way it looked online in the pictures I absolutely had to have it. So let's get down to business:
It came in a gold box (oooh) and inside that void it came with premium Blu earbuds, a simple clear you case, a regular static stick screen protector, a charger (not slim BTW but something that closely relates to the new apple chargers) and a pin to open the slim card/memory card slot, and of course the phone. Before turning on the phone I looked at it thoroughly. It is in fact a metal unibody and a beautiful one at that. I noticed on Amazon a person or 2 complaining about seeing the glue on the back of the phone, and I do see it on my phone only it is not glue but a hot glue tape used to protect the phone during assembly so once you take it off it won't bother you. It feels like a high end phone just holding it and looking at it. Blu didn't over brand this phone it only says Blu on the back. If you think of iPhone it's exactly where the apple is. The screen is massive almost edge to edge.
Power the phone on and you definitely see amoled maybe not as pronounced as galaxy s6 but still at this price point it's great. Super fast processor I can multi task with ease. It should be noted now that this phone is 32gb internal memory but if you want to use your memory card then it is not dual sim for you as the slot has either room for 2 sim cards or a micro SD and one sim. The games preform great and with 4glte on T-Mobile it's super fast everything. Camera on this phone could be better for indoor use as some of the pictures look grainy. But outdoors the back camera is great. I haven't lagged on internet at all, no lag with having multiple apps open just absolutely no lag. That's 3gb of ram well working. annoying 2 things I have found a tad bit annoying are the power button being right under the volume and the pull-down menu people using Android are used to which is gone. It is now a pull-up menu which like I said can become annoying.
When using this phone I do feel like I'm holding and iPhone on Android lol but I love it and have gotten used to it within 3 days and have had this phone for a week now. This is a great buy for this price.

BEST ANDROID PHONE IN THE MARKET AT REASONABLE $

BEST ANDROID PHONE IN THE MARKET AT REASONABLE $.
At first I got the Honor 5x but I returned it due to unresponsive touch screen specially in the number #6 area when you dial a number.
I received this Vivo 5 and I was surprised on the screen resolution and fast response of the phone. I sold my iphone 6 plus and replaced with this phone.

Love the Phone
Posted by: Dismember from: on
I love the phone. It replaced my Samsung Galaxy S3, I know it is a huge leap from my S3, it us just a great phone all around. My friends who have the iPhone 6, thing that the phone is better than theirs. With the 3 GB of ram it is super fast, with the 32 GB of memory it is fantastic, I do have my 64 GB micro SD card, so plenty of memory space. Android Lollipop is very easy to use and very intuitive. I have only had one app that doesn't want to work with the phone but that is the only problem I have. While the phone is large, it feels super light. I have not found any problems that make me regret buying the phone, I would buy it all over again. I know people how still owe well over $400 on there phone a year later, and mine is already paid off!

Can't belive what great phone!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: crousa2000 from: Norwood on
After spending crazy money on almost any flag ship phone and many time disappointed either performance, build quality, battery life, horrible customer service (Sony) I decide to try this 200$ phone. After 2 weeks with phone I have to admit I am really fool :-) spending all those crazy money for phones and now I have proof in front of me that nice phone can be built for 200$ and give you same experience as 700$. Battery life is amazing for what I am using phone, after 16 hours on the road and I am using phone not for gaming or watching Netflix I get back home battery is between 35-40%. People talking about screen but is bright and white not yellow as my Samsung Note 4 (see pic.) Performance guys just play with phone........... Probably will feel fool for some time because falling for those big advertisement form Samsung Sony LG HTC... and over paying for phones that on the end are just mediocre products........... Its look like is easier to spend some money on great advertisement than improve product........... No more 700$ phones for me............ Thank you BLU..............

Amazing phone for amazing price
Posted by: Sunny from: on
It has been 3 weeks using this phone and it has been amazing value for my $200. No problems so far and Camera is Amazing with no lags in phone. People confuse this with iphone as it better looking than it and lighter than iphone compared to its screen size.
