Worth getting the 800 series!
Posted by: Chadurban from: Grand Forks, ND on
Have only had the Bosch 800 series dishwasher up and running for a week now, so far are very happy with it. We have an open concept kitchen and wanted to upgrade our dishwasher as our old one was super loud (couldn't even watch TV or sleep in the bedroom with it on). The Bosch 800 is very quiet, sometimes you don't even know that it is on.
Haven't used all the features yet, but so far has cleaned the dishes very well. Also they seem to be coming out dry for the most part, maybe only small amounts of standing water on the tops of cups or Tupperware that have a bit of a lip on their bottom. This wasn't any different though in our old Kenmore that had a heating element.
We found the third (top) rack comes in handy for those extra small items or larger utensils. The only thing it is tough getting used to the rack layout for the as it is quite different than our old dishwasher. Not sure if this is really due to the dishwasher design or not though. Would definitely recommend this dishwasher.

Bosch delivers on its product
Posted by: from: Tampa Bay FL. on
I purchased this model at my local Best Buy. The installation happened the following weekend. The person they sent out did an excellent job removing my old dishwasher and installing the new Bosch unit.
The new Bosch dishwasher even comes with the water supply hose already attached to the back of the dishwasher
This unit is extremely quite and does an excellent job of washing the dishes.
The 3rd or top level is a great place to put silverware and other items and does a great job
When they installed my unit and ran a short test to make sure there were no leaks it worked fine. Then after the cycle ran it was displaying 2:09 on the display, I asked the installer what that meant and he said I would have to call Bosch.
So I called Bosch and they were even open on a Saturday afternoon and found out the 2:09 meant that was how long the cycle was going to take, I was happy that was not an error code.
One more thing the Bosch person told me was to plan on removing the dishes from the dishwasher within 1 hour of the dishwashers cycle ending so the dishes would be at their driest.
Otherwise the stainless steel tub cools back down and condensation gathers at the top of the tub and it would appear the dishes did not dry correctly.
Did I mention this dishwasher is quite !
This one is a keeper

Control panel print defective
Posted by: howver1 from: Whitewright, TX on
This unit was less than 1 year old when this was reported to Bosch. My on/off and start button print is disappearing/rubbing off, no strong chemicals or detergents have been used to clean this unit.
I am single have no children which means this unit may get used twice a month.
Bosch considers this cosmetic, the customer service representative made it sound as if she was doing me a favor by covering the part and leaving me to pay the service center to come and install the part.
Unfortunately this is my first Bosch product and last one I will purchase or recommend due to the lack of quality and truly standing behind poor quality straight from the factory.

You get what you pay for. And it is NICE!
Posted by: Retiredmema from: Wichita, KS on
We paid a little more than what we had intended because we bought the top of the line. Wanted the extra features like the folding racks and the third tray. Have only had a week or so but we love it. It fits perfectly in the space and is pretty flush against the cabinet. It looks nice. It is very quiet and will have no problem running it with people in the kitchen (vs the old dishwasher we only ran when we would go to bed or leave the house). Love the extra tray for the silver ware and etc. Makes it nice because you don't have to bend over to put the silver ware there, just such a nice extra. The door is a little heavy (sound proof) but is easy to get used to. The inside measurements are smaller than other diswashers because of the sound installation in the Bosch. However, I don't really notice it and with the third tray it feels like there is way more room. I love it!!

dishwasher intalled 6/23/14 and there are rust spots on the stainless steel. I called Best buy and they stated they only have a 15 day return policy and since I did not have a warranty there was nothing they would do. I would have to go back to Bosh. I did and they also stated they have a 30 policy and since it was cosmetic they did not have to do anything. Now 900.00 later I have a rusty dishwasher and it's 4 months old. I will not buy a Bosh or go to Best Buy Beware.

All around good product.

I have been using the Bosch 800 dishwasher for over a month now and don't have any major complaints. I was happily surprised at the build quality of the machine - best dishwasher I have ever owned. The dishes are always clean and dry at the end of the cycle. We use the Auto wash cycle with the sanitation option selected.
Two minor complaints... the dishwasher has a strong rubber smell when the cycle is complete. I am assuming this is part of the manufacturing process and will fade in time, but it has not yet. Secondly, if you read the specs you will see that the Bosch 800 boasts the largest number of place settings it can hold. The practical result of this spec is that the tines are very close together – great for plates, but not so much for bowls or any irregular items. However, the 3rd rack more than makes up for it. I don't think I could go back to a dishwasher without a third rack. It is great for large utensils, ramekins and even tupperware lids.

does everything a dishwasher should

dishwasher was installed on the day I wanted, by a professional, and when he was done ,he cleaned up. I do wish he would of ran it through a cycle before he left to make sure nothing leaked

Lettering on the control panel rubs off
Posted by: DDMN from: on
Dishwasher works fine but the lettering on the on/off and start buttons wore off within a few months of purchase. I called Bosch and they said it wasn't covered by warranty as it was a "cosmetic" defect. Completely unacceptable for a $800+ appliance.

My Whirlpool Gold dishwasher was dying. You could hear it running upstairs and the dishes never came out clean. I shopped around, read a lot of reviews, and decided to spend a little more and go with a Bosch. Yeah, it's more expensive that other brands but it did not disappoint. There are 5 of us in the house, so the dishwasher gets used a lot. The Bosch holds a lot more dishes, so we aren't running it every other day now. And the dishes come out spotless. A little wet, but there is a setting you can change on the control panel to add extra drying that adds another 15 minutes to the cycle. And the cycle is long. With the sanitize and crystal option, the cycle runs for almost 3 hours! We always run it overnight anyway, so no big deal. Third rack is great, I was worried about the space on the second rack because of it, but all of our glasses fit fine. I love the loading pattern on the first rack. It holds more place settings than we own. If you use your dishwasher a lot like we do, I highly recommend this dishwasher. Oh, I almost forgot - it is so quiet you can't even tell it is running.

It is quiet, that's about it. We purchased this from Best Buy about 18 months ago and we are thoroughly underwhelmed with its performance. I have a number of Bosch tools and they are top knotch but this appliance doesn't come close to that quality. I have used the recommended detergents, other detergents, keep the filter clean and yet the cleaning ability of this machine is below average, leaving particles, debris and film on some items and not others. I basically have to wash everything before putting it into my $800 dish rinser and even then have problems. Does it clean better than a $500, or even a $400 washer? Nope. I've had Maytag's and Kitchenaid's that cleaned circles around this machine...in a fraction of the time. Basically, My mother's $300 Sears dishwasher has better performance. What you are buying is an $800+ 118 minute dish rinser. At first I was amazed at how quiet it was, now I realize that quiet is just it sleeping on the job. If that's what you want then this is the perfect machine for you to waste your money on. The rest of us need to stay away from this product. As for the adjustability of the racks, the flip up sections are nice...for a very short time, the cheap plastic hardware that holds them breaks easy rendering it useless. Bosch really dropped the ball on appliances, stick to tool manufacturing because they are just awful with appliances.
By the way, this is not Best Buy's fault. The people there were great and went the extra mile on our order and delivery. I'm just sorry people that are that conscientious with their customers are saddled with a products big hype yet shoddy quality.
