This printer is great!

My sweetheart bought one similar to this one. she liked it and I needed a printer. So, - - I went to Best Buy and bought one. I also purchased some extra ink and paper. Here are the results. It connected wirelessly to my computer through the router. I have since printed several items for various purposes. So far, (it is very new), it has performed flawlessly! I printed some labels for mailing and they came out perfect! Get one of these. They are better than the Hewlett Packard ones. I have printed Excel, Word and various other documents without a hitch. The copies are crisp and very legible! Can't say enough about it. (Honestly, I have not tried a color picture yet but will soon and I am sure they will be excellent)

everything I hoped for

Read lots of reviews before buying this printer. I'm not all that tech savy and was concerned about getting something I couldn't figure out how to set up and use. I was looking for one that would be easy to set up, would copy and scan documents. I will occasionally print out a photo, but that's not of huge importance to me. I was definitely looking for one that would not break the bank when buying ink cartridge replacements. So far this Brother MFC-J885DW has just been amazing! I was able to set it up in about 30 minutes. It was so easy! The one page easy start sheet tells you exactly what to do and when to put it the CD installer. From there the printer explains everything as you go along. I had absolutely no problems and was able to print from my iphone right off the bat! I've had this printer now for over a month and haven't even had a paper jam! I wish all products worked this well! My first Brother product, but it won't be my last!

compact and effective

I had a Brother printer that I liked a lot, but it wasn't wireless, so I had to get a new one. After looking at all the different options, I chose this Brother because of its wireless compact design, low ink costs, and functionality. It does everything, including two-sided printing. Not as good with printing camera photos, but I don't do a lot that on my home printer anyway. Very good buy.

Nice printer, less buggy than Epson, less colorful
Posted by: BobNilsen from: on
I just bought this printer and compared it to an Epson WF-2660.
This printer had a much nicer out-of-the-box experience. Where the Epson was buggy, failed to print a few times, and was slow... this MFC-J885DW was great at everything.
However, the colors printed on standard paper were more vivid on the Epson printer than the Brother. It honestly made me sad because I liked everything else on the Brother better.

Great product for the price

My last printer was a Brother so I decided to stay with what I know works.
I have 75,000 plus copies from my original MFC495CW printer which is still working perfectly.
This Brother MFC-J885DW was purchased as a backup and so far, it too is working perfectly.
The Brother "All-In-One" printers print high quality photos using many types of photo paper.
The wireless networking is a snap ... Just plug it in and go. I print from all types of devices… Desktop, notebooks and cell phones.
The Brother “All-In-One” Printers receive a 10/10 in my opinion.

Good all around printer
Posted by: InkedOut from: on
I needed a printer that could be used with an iPad and print the occasional photo without my ink disappearing in a few months. I replaced a great HP with a newer model and learned the hard way that newer printers clean themselves constantly. So I used consumer reports to find one that did not and this one fit the bill.
Now for the details: For color on plain paper look for some other business printer, this is average at best. Photo quality is pretty good but the photo holder has to be manually set and once set it will only print on photo paper. The tray only holds 20 photos. It is pic bridge compatible and it holds all of your standard memory cards. All in all it serves my purpose.
Document print is decent, but I print all of my documents on my Brother MFC-7360N which is an amazing laser printer.
If you are constantly printing photos than this is not for you, if you print the occasional photo and need a goof Wi-Fi printer for IOS and android this can't be beat.

Nice printer for the money
Posted by: Snowbirdie from: on
Easy to use and set up. Works as advertised.
Only complaints are that it's difficult to pull out the paper tray to reload paper. It's also a bit difficult finding ink for this printer.
Staples usually has a couple black cartridges available, but can never find any in stock at Office Depot. SamsClub does not carry it either.

Meets my basic needs
Posted by: ajensen324 from: on
I wanted a new inkjet for the little bit of color I do. I also occasionally need to have a scanner. HP used to be my go to. The ink cost on this will be better and I suspect they wont dry out as fast(unconfirmed). So far i like it a lot. The document feeder worked well for scanning 15 pages I needed. Lots of features built in.
What i dont like. This feels very cheap on the trays and the trays do have limited paper in reserve. I have been a Brother fan for a long time and this is by far the cheapest tray on any brand Ive touched. Its bad because the tray does need to be extended or it drops paper off the device.
It meets my needs for a casual user who uses a laser for bw print.

Great print from an inexpensive Brother printer. I own six different Brother printers and this one is one of my favorites. Love the easy setup for WI-FL.
