This lens owns. Posted by: from: Northville, MI on One of Canon's best lenses for portrait work. 135mm can be too long for some, but this lens is great in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. Definitely not the lens I'd recommend for a beginner! on a crop body this lens is effectively a 216mm f/2 lens and that rocks. I use it on 5dmkII's and love the results on full frame. It's also a great alternative/backup to the 70-200mm 2.8 IS but the 135 is MUCH smaller and lighter. Enjoy!

Excellent lens! Posted by: from: on This lens is excellent! The images are super clear (especially in bright lights). The background is beautifully blurred. Excellent portrait lens and outdoor lens. Can be used for portraits, etc. as long as you are able to stand sufficiently away from the subject. However, the lens is heavy and there is no image stabilization so blur might be added to pictures if hands are shaky. Best to use a tripod if possible. But clear images without a tripod are possible with the right light conditions. Also, lens is not really element proof like other L series lens so need to take care if you are out in bad weather conditions. It's a solid lens, but you will want to protect it if it's rainy/snowy/etc.

Like a Kid in a Candy Store w/My New Canon 135mm Posted by: from: on Absolute awesome lens. Matter of fact it is the lens that has been on the longest on my main SLR and even when I took it off to go to a birthday party this past weekend and brought a smaller lens, as soon as I got home I put the 135mm right back on. Yeah, you will love this lens, I promise you.

Stellar. Posted by: from: Los Angeles, CA on uhmmm first off, the picture they have is awkward, its longer, they seem to have compressed the image so that it looks a lot shorter than it really is. but do know that it is a long lens, its great on a full frame, though on a crop camera, like the 30d/40d/rebelxt its rather long for indoor use. great for lowlight if you can handhold the camera. and it is SHARP definitely one of the sharpest lens that canon has even at f/2

outstanding Posted by: from: miamisburg, Ohio on One of the best that Canon makes. Need to throw the background out of focus? This is the lens to buy. Skip the 85mm f1.8 and the 100mm primes...they all have serious chromatic aberration issues (except the 100f2.8 maros) but they are well controlled with this lens. It is amazing. can't go wrong with it! www.photographybyrudyconrad.com

Good Lens, and Lighter than it looks. Posted by: from: on I shoot mainly primes, and this has been on my list. Crazy sharp, and not nearly as heavy as it looks. Definitely built well, but be aware that it isn't weather sealed. Don't just slap a UV filter on it and think you're safe to play in the rain like your 50mm L. Treat it right, and it will treat you the same. Sharp across the aperture range, with creamy bokeh wide open, and TACK sharp at 7.1. A great purchase. Other than my light meter, and Apollo modifiers; it's the best photography decision I've made this year so far.

Amazing Lens Posted by: from: Louisiana on I am absolutely in love with this lens. If you are a portrait photographer, this is a must have. It's bokeh is creamy and gorgeous. It is tack sharp! You just can't beat prime lenses and this one is my favorite! It is very heavy though and since it doesn't have IS, a tripod is a must. If you have to spot handheld, you need super fast SS. I'm so pleased with it. And with best buy's quick delivery!
