Clash of the Titans The 1981 mythological fantasy adventure Clash of the Titans is resurrected in this remake from Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier. Discovered at sea as an infant by a weary fisherman, demigod Perseus (Sam Worthington) grows up with no real knowledge of his celestial origins until his watchful guardian, Io (Gemma Arterton), informs him that he is the offspring of Zeus (Liam Neeson). When Zeus' brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) casually wipes out Perseus' family, the grieving son vows to show the gods just what kind of damage humankind can inflict on its creators. Before long, Perseus and a small group of soldiers are venturing out into the desert in order to find a way to stop the Kraken, a terrifying force of nature that an indignant Hades has vowed to unleash upon man should they fail to offer up beloved princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) as a sacrifice. Along the way, the soldiers encounter a trio of frightening witches with second sight, contend with Hades' devoted servant Calibos (Jason Flemyng), battle giant scorpions, and come face to face with Medusa (Natalia Vodianova), the dreaded gorgon whose gaze has the power to turn men into stone. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
3D - Expectations vs. Reality
Posted by: nullity from: Frontenac, KS on
As one of the few non IMAX or children's animated movies available in the Blu-ray 3D format, this title found its way into my collection. My expectations for the 3D effects were in line with reality, so I'm pretty happy with the purchase. It is in my opinion an exciting action movie with good special effects and enough 3D depth to help draw you into the experience. In a nutshell, do not expect the 3D to be on par with Avatar or any other native 3D movie.
See, this movie was shot using a 2D camera, and later converted to 3D. I did not see it in 3D at the theaters, but by most accounts it was a terrible 3D conversion. I have read that Warner Brothers remastered the 3D for the Blu-ray release, and I am inclined to believe it because I did not find the 3D to be terribly underwhelming for what it is. I am certain, however, that other reviewers will post negative reviews stating that they couldn't tell if the movie was 2D or 3D and whatnot... just as they did with The Last Airbender (which was also shot in 2D).
If you buy this movie expecting world-class 3D effects, prepare to be disappointed. The reality of it is that any 3D conversion will not be as perfect as a true 3D movie, just as paintings are not as realistic as photographs. If you buy this movie because you want something in 3D that you can watch with buddies over a few beers, you might be satisfied... just be sure to start the night with a few minutes of some IMAX film or kids movie to show them what 3DTV -can- do.

This is a review of the 3d Effects only.

OK, I got this movie early in my 3D education. Here's the deal: If I get a movie in 3D it doggone well better give me all the bells and whistles. The problem with the medium is if its not shot in 3D, then you are gonna have issues such as ghosting, blurry action sequences, and sub par 3d viewing experiences.
Unfortunately, that's what you get here. Now if you compare the effects of this movie VS Resident Evil: Afterlife, or Avatar, then you will see what i mean. If I get a 3D movie, I want the pictures to pop, the bullets flying out of the screen at me, and all the bells and whistles because THAT'S why my dumb self spent all the cash i did on all this stuff in the first place.
If you are wanting great 3D effects, this isn't the best of the batch.

Great story! Decent 3D.

After having seen this movie on regular dvd, it was a pleasure to watch in 3D. Not native 3D, but when Hades descends it's pretty cool. A lot of special effects were only made better by 3D.

Not a Bad Movie, But Bad 3D!

The first review is dead on, but i have to put my 2 cents in so the stars even out.
Movie remake was a little disappointing.
The 3D is god awful.
They should have to put a label on the front of the cover saying=== THIS MOVIE WAS SHOT IN 2D AND WAS EDITED INTO 3D===
1 star Thanks!! :)

Winner in 3D!
Posted by: Chris2381 from: Johnstown, Ohio on
I found this movie to be quite thrilling in 3D! Unlike the other reviewers I thought this was candy for the eyes and thoroughly entertaining in the 3D format and a handsome addition to my growing collection. Top notch special effects and fine acting make this a highly recommended feature for the whole family although it might be a bit too intense for younger viewers.

Wish they had this in 3-D. But since its a remake of a bad movie this one is actually pretty good. I enjoyed the effects and the true loyalty to the original. Any fan of Greek mythology will love this.

I feel like a tard

I wouldn't recommend buying any movie that wasn't shot for 3d. It added some depth and that is about it. I want stuff whizzing by my head. I believe in all honesty I could buy the standard blu ray and turn the conversion on my tv or bluray and ended with the same effect...

Worst 3D movie!
Posted by: WindfarmMike from: Fowler, IN on
I love the movie itself but the 3D was terrible! I would recommend to buy this movie in bluray but save your money on the 3D version because you would be very disapointed!
