Worked Great on Cruise Ship Posted by: from: Arlington Heights, IL on Before I went on my cruise vacation, someone suggested these walkie-talkies. I'm I glad they did. We used them so many times. On the cruise ship (with no cell service) they worked great all over the ship. My wife could be sunning herself by the pool and I'd be on a lower deck or in the cabin and we could communicate instantly and perfectly. They were also useful on Caribbean Islands where I didn't want to pay the huge cellular roaming fees. These things worked great as long as we were two miles or less apart. They also have a really long battery life, we never had to charge them more than once a day. I'm very satisfied.

good radios for local use Posted by: from: on They work well and are not complicated; but don't believe the 22 mile stuff. In normal use on the ground we got 1/2 mile at the most. They work better than cheap FRS radios because on the GMRS channels you have more power. You're supposed to have an FCC GMRS license to use those channels.

Decent radio for line-of-sight Posted by: from: on We bought these radios to communicate between two cars on a cross-country move. Although the box says they're rated for 23 miles, we couldn't hear them beyond about 1 mile. Fortunately, we didn't actually expect them to work that far out, nor did we need them to. They do have a good quality signal and don't seem to get as much interference as others we've used. We use them around our property (20 acres), and they work within a half mile or so, due to the dense trees. So far, the batteries do last a good long time, but I wish they came with a USB-AC adapter, so we didn't have to charge it via the computer.

hello can you hear me? Posted by: from: on Like the summary says... hello can you hear me is what I was asking my wife when we were traveling. Bought these to keep in touch while we had to drive cross country in two vehicles. If I could see her and she was no more then 100 yards away we could talk. But if she got further ahead or behind me we could not talk at all. Line of sight would be great but we still couldn't talk. When we could talk they were perfect and I have nothing but good to say about that. Can't use it while it's charging on the car charger. It will turn off and you wouldn't even know it. Haven't tested them on any hikes yet but. I plan on trying to see how well they will work then.

Perfect for a road trip Posted by: from: on We were moving to Florida from Connecticut, driving two vehicles. Using the 2 way radio worked much better than the phones. The only draw back is the battery life was good for a day only must be charged after about 14 hours. Also the charger was one charger with two ends to charge but when using in separate cars one charger doesn't do it. Buy or bring an additional charger for the second car.

Do not buy for miles Posted by: from: on We use them on lot, bought 3 sets. They do good over all, but I could not communicate 1 mile away. Could be the houses in the way. But are clear and easy to use on lot. One of the six does have its moments and have to reset.
