Definitive Technology Mythos ST-L

Absolutely the beat sound I have heard in my life. Very transparent and detailed, yet built in power subwoofer is a monster. Jaw dropping performance and such a joy to listen to them. Built quality is top notch. Can't expect any less from Def Tech of course because of the quality speakers they make and their reputation.

blew me away, literally!

i went into my local best buy looking to buy the little brothers of these monsters but they were sold out and discontinued... my extreme need for satisfying my insatiable desire for instant gratification took hold of me and the store manager and i started looking at my options. queue in these behemoths...
initially the price point floored me, considering how my first car was only $500 and here i am about to spend 10 times that on SPEAKERS but man are these puppies worth it.
i bought these to replace the klipsch icon series (best buy exclusive) and in the midst of it my klipsch sub as well. i was weary but i FEEL bass i never knew existed with these amazing speakers.
i went around and tested martin logans and energy, even some high end polks... nothing compared to these def techs. (i have since replaced every speaker in my setup with def techs). i cannot say enough as to how impressed i am with these speakers.

Bad to the bone!!!

The best speakers I have ever owned, for sure. The bass is incredible, you can crank these speakers all the way up with no distortion. My Denon amp puts out 140 watts per channel and easily powers these towers with 0% distortion. Bad to the bone for sure!!!

Amazing Powered speakers!

These speakers sound incredible. I fact that they have their own integrated amp for base bakes it so yopu don't even need a subwoofer. I would buy these again without hesitation.

"Bang" for your buck!

These speakers are INSANE at the $5,000/pair price point. Much more articulate and less colored as other well known Definitive speakers. As and avid "audiophile" I certainly recommend these to anyone looking for a powerful setup to enjoy music and movies alike. 14Hz low end!? Come on....that's crazy at this price! These towers are absolutely gorgeous, a great attribute for someone with my particular taste. I planned on running two additional subs with my 7 channel setup and quickly decided against it after finishing my room. I matched these mains with the CS8080HD center #recommended by the Definitive engineer#, and Definitive reference in wall and in ceiling speakers #RSS and RCS III's#. After much debate comparing brands, I am COMPLETELY confident I made the right decision.

Sounds Great when they work
Posted by: CincyMat from: on
I bought a pair of these before Christmas. Best Buy did a great job shipping them to my home in two days. Unpacked and set them up. One had a DOA subwoofer amp. Would not power on. I took the dead speaker back to Best Buy and they exchanged it on the spot with a demo unit. Less than a week later the the second of the two speakers shipped to me had the subwoofer amp go into a continuous power on/power off cycle. I called DefTech for help. Made sure the power cord was fully plugged in, moved the speaker to a different electrical circuit in my house still cycling power. Instead of exchanging another speaker I returned them to Best Buy. Best Buy was great to deal with and refunded the full purchase price. So, this is just a warning about the subwoofer amps. They appear to have issues.
