    Synopsis

Produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, this epic sci-fi adventure finds The Doctor's dark past returning with a vengeance following a frightening discovery in a secret vault deep inside London's National Gallery. With a rift linking 2013 to 1562 suddenly opened, the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) realize the world has come under invasion by a long-forgotten, shape-shifting alien race known as the Zygons - who have somehow escaped stasis in an antique painting, and have produced an exact double of Queen Elizabeth I (Joanna Page). Meanwhile, another painting depicting Arcadia on the final day of the Time War reawakens the deep shame carried by the current incarnations of the Doctor at the actions of their previous incarnation the War Doctor (John Hurt), whose detonation of a powerful weapon of mass destruction known as The Moment destroyed both the Time Lords and the Daleks. As Rose Tyler (Billy Piper) returns in her "Bad Wolf" persona to show the War Doctor the consequences of his actions, loyal companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) aids the three Doctors in stopping the Zygons, and making a difficult decision that will forever alter the course of Time Lord history. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
