I guess I'm either the first one to either buy this projector or review it, but I have to say that I love this projector it is true HD with over 2 million dot pixels! The image is so awesome and bright even on my wall in my family room.
I've had this projector for about 4 weeks now and have put it through nine hours of movies and games and no problem, although it does run hot, but I'm not surprised with 3LCD. If you're looking to play HD movies and games I would definitely go with the 1040 from Epson! The brightness is awesome and I get around a 100 inch screen from about 12 feet away which is awesome
I would recommend this projector! :)

Amazing picture great price

I was in the market to replace my PT-ax200u Panasonic that I have owned for 8 years the panisonic was a great projector but to make it live again it was $400 for a new bulb. I reviewed many websites and decided to take a chance on the Epson media 1040. I am so glad I did the epson is brighter more defined and has an amazing picture for a projector at this price. I put it up against my buddy's $2500. Ben Q and he was amazed also. My son loves to play Xbox one and it does not have to be a dark room to enjoy. I will be getting a new screen as my old one is too small now. I have it projected on a light tan wall currently and still the picture is amazing. Ordered screen pro white screen material from Carl's Place to make a new 144 inch screen instead of the 110 inch I had before. Very impressed with this projector!! Can't wait to see it on a dedicated screen.

Excelent projector and store

Purchased the Epson 1040 to replace an Epson 730 (720DPI- 2000Lumens) that was damaged by an E-surge. I Debated about spending the extra to upgrade from 720DPI/2000 Lumens to 108/3000L. REALLY glad I did. The 1080DPI has a fantastic picture and at 3000L is very bright with bright vivid colors. Great for anything from night with all the lights out, to a fully lit family room. Like watching a 92” HDMI TV. The projector casts a 92” picture at 9 feet from the screen (ceiling mount) and could still go a bit larger but that is the limit of my screen.
Set up was easy. I mounted it to the ceiling mount and then flipped the picture and did the keystone adjustment. In hind sight I would have set the projector upright and then flipped the image as it make reading and navigating the menu easier when seeing it right-side up. Keystone adjustment was very easy. Adjusted in minutes. The powered USB port and second HDIM input makes it possible to plug my Chromecast directly into the projector with no other connection required. Fan noise is barely audible with a totally quiet room but was the sound is on, even from just the project without the surround sound going, the fan is not to be heard.
Was happy with the old Epson 730, but the 1040 is FAR better than the older 730. VERY happy with it. Would definitely recommend this projector.

the magic of the big screen...in my home...

the resolution is ridiculous...awesome picture...
my recommendation if you're not going to buy a screen for a projector and just have the image on your wall...
make sure your paint on the wall isn't semi-gloss or high gloss...it'll look like glitter on the image...use a flat or an eggshell

Great Projector for its price

Quality is great for a mid ranged projector. If you're not looking to spend more than 700ish and just looking for some great picture this projector will do it. The sound sucks so be sure to have an external sound source.

Great product, make sure you register online first before using or it won't let you watch a dvd!

Great inexpensive projector,

I really like this projector, but it is difficult at best to get good sound. It has no optical cable, which almost every sounbar runs off. The sound from the projector itself is not very good for outside use so I tried to set up a soundbar and had to break out all sorts of junk to do it. I finally found out that the roku4 has an optical outlet so I bought one, hooked it up and ran an optical to the sounbar and now I have sound, but really, no optical or even rca outlets for sound. That was frustrating. If not for Roku 4 I would have had to take it back. great otherwise.

you should have a switch to turn it off & On instead of having to plug/unplug it everytime you want to use it, otherwise it's very nice works great!

Just replaced an older (7 years old or so) projector with the Epson 1040 and the quality of the picture, color, and brightness far exceeded my expectation. We can have the windows open during the day and lights on at night and the brightness of it is great. If you are looking for an affordable projector this is it.
