Pull hard, buy extra door shelves

Overall, this seems to be an excellent appliance in a category that don't get much respect. Freezers freeze things. They're either big boxes on the floor that tip you upside down to dig out your deer meat or whatever, and require a day of defrost every year, or they defrost themselves and make you pay for that service. This Frigidaire is the latter, but somebody at Electrolux (the parent company) has finally put together a package of convenience and energy savings that actually provides value. As others have said (including my wife), the door could be considered a pain. It's designed to be tightly sealed. Some folks seem to have problems with that, but I sincerely doubt anyone has socket injuries from jerking open their freezer door. It's a teensy bit tighter than average, but c'mon, folks. It really isn't a problem. And the tight closure provides us owners long-term energy savings. As for storage, word to the wise: When you order/buy this thing, call (706) 860-4110 (Electrolux Customer Service) and order two additional door bins at $25 apiece, Part # 297187201. The Frigidaire version is about $50 cheaper than the Sears Kenmore version of the same freezer, but that's because the Kenmore comes with those extra door shelves. You'll want the shelves, so just go ahead and order them if you're buying the Frigidaire version. We bought ours from Best Buy because we had built up credits, so even with the added door shelf costs, we came out ahead. Freezers are generally commodity items, but this one seems, so far, to be innovative and worth its above-average cost. The mantra today is that all appliances are designed to last 10 years, rather than the 20 of a generation ago. It'll be interesting to see how that works out with this freezer. So far our experience coincides with other reviewers (great soft freeze area for ice cream, love the on-door readouts, energy star rating, storage flexibility, excellent LED lighting etc.). All this makes this a standout freezer in an otherwise boring category. My wife and I love good design that exudes thinking. Who'd'a thunk that would be available in a goofy thing like a freezer? Well, we have it on our sunporch, as proof that it's possible. The only dangler is how long it will last. Ten years or less will make me grumpy. If we get close to 20 out of it, I hope I'll be around to congratulate Frigidaire/Electrolux for their excellence.

Nicely organized easy to use

This freezer is a great size with easy to use baskets and shelves. The outside of the freezer shows the inside temperature. The only thing that might have been nice is more door storage containers. I have been unable to figure out where to buy extra door storage compartments.
Ice cream storage compartment is another great feature.

Truly a frost-free freezer!!!

This freezer is truly a frost free. Operates really quietly in my lower level. The amount of room inside is amazing. Easy to organize your stuff in the freezer and get to. The LED lighting is a plus. I owned a GE Chest Freezer and after 15 years, it was time to upgrade to a Frost-Free Freezer.

A very good freezer

This is an above average upright freezer that does a great job at what it's supposed to do... freeze things!
We love the space that's available and the shelving system is laid out nicely. The freezer has a great seal when you shut the door, probably the best we've seen of all the freezers we've ever had.
The only complaint we have about the freezer is that it comes with three holders that you can put in the door to hold items. The door space, however is large enough to hold six of these holders; so unless you can find a way to get additional holders you end up with unused freezer space that you could put more items into.

Huge Easy Access Freezer

We upgraded from two chest freezers to this one upright freezer, and love it. Opening the door and being able to see what we have and easy access to the food is great. Over the years we have "lost" so many things in the bottom of our old freezer, and the kids also have a hard time locating food and end up damaging food because everything is stacked on top of one another. This definitely is not an issue with this freezer. Lots of shelf space and nice baskets for organizing.

Love this freezer.

Great features. Easy to arrange shelves the way we like. Definitely no ice build up in the month we've had it. Love that it is always at zero. The ice cream section is too cold so ice cream is too hard. It should have come with more door baskets - there is too much wasted space in door. And additional baskets are expensive.

Great so far

Lots of storage space. However, were three additional doors in the pics. Had to buy these as extras for an additional $75

I've had this freezer for a couple weeks; it cooled quickly and has held its zero degree temperature well (it sits in a hot garage). My only complaint is that the compressor runs so long; a local Frigidaire repair guy came out and said this was normal for low energy freezers: the smaller compressors run longer. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase so far.

Frankly, when my old freezer quit, Frigidaire was not the brand I wanted to replace it with - however, I am now a convert. I was worried that the interior of the freezer appeared to be set up too much like a refrigerator with too much storage in the door. I have not found that to be a problem, but I should have added at least one door shelf pocket when they were on sale. The soft ice-cream shelf is a nice feature, but too small except for the smallest containers.
One of the best features is the open-door alarm - that I had reason to notice recently. Unfortunately, this is also a feature that could be dramatically improved if the alarm sound were much louder and at a pitch older people can hear. I really thought it was a cell-phone beep until I chased down where the beeping was coming from.
The other really great feature is the temperature display on the outside of the door. (Yes, even with the door slightly ajar, it stayed at -10.)
The interior lighting is excellent, the pull out drawers are very helpful and the overall layout is thoughtful.
The delivery crew was awesome! This very large model had to go inside the house into the pantry. Installation required removal of the door on the freezer and the door in the hall. The crew handled everything with ease of experience and absolutely protected the floors and everything else.
I could not be happier with this purchase or the Best Buy store where I purchased it.

Nice size freezer for family

Easy to organize. Just wished it had one more shelf for the door.
