I was using a running gps app on my iPhone but found that it was no very accurate. Sometimes it would be off by more than a mile. Someone told me about the garmin watch so I decided to do some research. I looked at the garmin 210 at first which cost a lot more than the garmin 10. For what I needed, distance, time, and pace the garmin 10 was a great choice. I can upload my runs on my computer and it keeps track of all my runs just like the more expensive garmin gps watches. I love the fact that it is very accurate and reliable. It it very comfortable to wear as well. I'm so happy that I purchased the garmin 10! It is very easy to use as well.

Great Birthday Present for a runner
Posted by: RynRyn from: on
My husband bought me the black and red male version. While I would have been ok with that watch I exchanged it for the pink style. The slimmer band is much more comfortable on a skinny wrist. I love how I can run where my mood strikes and the watch does all of the calculations for me. It measures everything that I need and more (I don't care about HR). I find it amusing that it graphs the whole run by speed, so I can tell by each dip where I walked, stretched or slowed down. I used it on my recent 1/2 marathon where the mileage on the course was poorly marked, it kept me on time and motivated. Also if you are a calorie counter it shows how much you burn with each run. I highly recommend this over the skinny trendy brands that are out. This gives you instant and accurate readings.

Great watch for the beginner

LOVE my new watch! I was looking for something entry level, since I've been running for less than a year. This watch has everything I wanted (splits, laps, total time, average pace in minutes/mile and speed) without breaking the bank.
I run 3-5 days a week, about an hour each time, and can get through an entire week's training without needing a charge. Garmin Connect (the app) is fantastic and gives all the info I was used to seeing from similar apps like RunKeeper and Map My Run that I had previously used on my phone.
I have two minor complaints, but nothing so bad that I'd not recommend this watch. First is that it's a little bulky on the wrist - it doesn't bother me when running, but it means I don't wear the watch when I'm not running. Second, I live in WI which means that I'm running in several layers of clothing about four months out of the year. This watch will not fit around my wrist on top of those layers. I have to expose skin between my sleeve and my glove or hide the watch under the layers where I can't see it.
Still would definitely highly recommend this as an entry level running watch!

Perfect. Just the basics.

I bought this watch to replace the Forerunner 210, which has a charger that is a pain in the butt to connect, and is a bit bulkier with more features that I never used. Personally, all I needed was time, distance, instant pace, and mile splits. Everything else on a watch is something I don't really need. Because of my irritations with the 210, I tried this watch out and I love it. It's smaller in size, so more comfortable to wear (it looks stylish, even!). The instant pace appears in 5 second increments, so instead of 7:42 you may get 7:40, but that's not a huge deal to me. The watch is very easy to use and to move through the menus. I use a regular stopwatch wristwatch for interval workouts so I couldn't tell you how it performs in that arena, but I like it much better than the other models for everyday, basic information and use.

Great GPS watch for needs
Posted by: TechieDad21 from: Aurora on
Bought for my wife. She loves it for her training and running events. She says that it is nice because you can change the screen to display the information you want, it accurately tracks your progress via gps, will tell you if you made any personal bests during runs, has a lighted function so she could read the screen when running at night, and she likes the color. She doesn't like the fact that it can take a few minutes for the GPS to locate you. She will turn on the GPS before getting dressed so she doesn't have to wait as long. Also it doesn't measure her heart rate like more expensive watches do, but that wasn't a feature she cared about anyways. Despite these flaws, she loves it.

Great watch for anyone, beginner or avid user. We now have purchased 3 watches for our family and will probably get at least one more.

Not the best purchase I've ever made
Posted by: RachelA2015 from: on
I wanted something relatively simple to track distance/time. I went with this because it SEEMED relatively simple. I'm not the most tech-savvy person on earth, I admit. But I noticed that when I run in Manhattan, it takes this thing at least 10 minutes to figure out my position. In Brooklyn, it has almost no issues at all. (Unfortunately, I live and work primarily in Manhattan.) I'm not thrilled with that development and, if I had it to do over again, would go with a different product. I don't have a ton of time in the mornings and don't love building an extra 10 minutes in my runs so that the Garmin can decide whether or not it wants to join me.

Excellent GPS watch

I was looking for a watch that could track me more accurately than my MapMyRun app was doing. This watch did everything I was wanting a watch to do! I can run 5-6 times on one charge which is around 24-30 miles. It's a little big but not bothersome. I like it!!!

Display hard to read.
Posted by: 98331 from: Forks, WA on
Easy to set up. Works great. My only complaint is that the display is cheap. The photo in the advertisement above shows the numbers to be crisp and dark. This is not true in real life. I can't read the display while I am running. Returned for a TomTom only because the TomTom has a better display.
