Easy and reliable Posted by: from: on My husband needed a simple GPS watch that was easy to use. He does not care about advanced features and wanted something light. This model is exactly what he needed. The only downside is the battery life and the lack of Bluetooth.

Good value so far, but had to take first one back. Posted by: from: Salem, Oregon on This was an unusual purchase for me. The first Forefunner 10 that I bought was a piece of junk. One of the buttons fell off within a week and I had to keep putting it back in and then watch froze up and I couldn't get it to unfreeze. So I was bound and determined to buy a different and better watch. However, the last watch I had was a Forerunner 205 and I love the auto pause feature. If I rely on myself to pause the watch at every stoplight, I will forget to start it again on about half my runs. I was also impressed by the Garmin connect program. I couldn't find a reasonably priced watch with the features I wanted, and I'm used to the way the Garmin works. So after reading all of the rave reviews on the Forerunner 10 I decided that maybe that first watch was just a lemon. I've had the second watch for more than a month now and I haven't had any problems. I did decide to get the protection program this time to hedge my bets. Fingers crossed, but so far so good. It doesn't have the rock solid feel of my Forerunner 205, but it is lighter and I like that it gives you a nice little summary of your run right after you finish. It also tells you when you have achieved a new record for speed or distance.

Great GPS Watch for the price Posted by: from: NC on The watch is very accurate in terms of distace, and I am using the watch to train for a half marathon. I like knowing how many miles I've been, the pace, the time per mile, and approximate calories burned. You can sync it to garmin connect and the webpage keeps track of your personal bests, and you can see a GPS overlay on a map to see where you went, elevation change, and average pace at any given point during your run. I like how if I want to run 4 miles anywhere, I can put on the watch, run halfway to my goal and then double back for my full distance. I never have to guess or drive the route again. You can apparently use it for biking, however I cannot speak on that as I do not bike.

Display hard to read. Posted by: from: Forks, WA on Easy to set up. Works great. My only complaint is that the display is cheap. The photo in the advertisement above shows the numbers to be crisp and dark. This is not true in real life. I can't read the display while I am running. Returned for a TomTom only because the TomTom has a better display.

great amateur level affordable GPS Posted by: from: Appleton, WI on after my nike fit died(15 months), I thought I would try something else in the 100$ price range in case it failed prematurely again. So far after 3 months, the Garmin is great. I run approx. 45 miles a week, with charging around 15 minutes a day. So far my longest road run has been 15 miles...and from full charge the battery read about half. Hopefully it will make it for a marathon in September! Overall it is simple to use and learn - and is greatly complimented by the garmin apps. They are very detailed but also easy to use.

Perfect for tracking miles and pace! Posted by: from: PA on I wanted a way to keep track of miles ran without the need to preplan my runs. The Garmin Forerunner 10 allows to me walk out the door and run anywhere I feel like and know exactly how far I've gone! This is great when traveling and it also prevents boredom from setting in by running the same course every day. Another nice feature is the ability to customize what's displayed on the screen. While it is limited to how much information can be shown at one time, there is the ability to scroll to show more. Garmin also has a website where runs can be uploaded to keep track of progress. This information can be made public, if you want to share it with others, or you can keep it private. While this is a basic watch that doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it does have the most important basics at a good price.

Exceded Every Expectation Posted by: from: Maumelle, AR on I began training for a half marathon last week. I was using a Nike SportBand to track my runs. It was not accurate at all so I decided to get a GPS watch to get the most out of my training. The Garmin Forerunner 10 has EVERYTHING and more that I was looking for. I like that you can customize what data you see while you run on the 2 data pages. I set my first data page to show Pace and Distance, my second data page shows Chronograph and Calories. You hit a button on the side to toggle between the 2 pages. I like that it has a backlight. You can set pace goals so that the watch will alert you to speed up if you fall below your pace goal. Another feature that I like is the Auto Pause, it will pause your run automatically when you stop. So if you get caught at a red light or have to use the restroom, it pauses your run and then resumes your run when you start moving. The GPS connects in about 5 seconds, but you have to be outdoors or it has trouble connecting. Tonight I set up my Garmin Connect account online. All I can say is that it is PHENOMENAL. You can analyze your runs 200 different ways. You can view maps of your run routes. You can set goals. You can do a ton of stuff that's pretty cool. The only thing that this watch doesn't do is track your heart rate, which was not a deal breaker for me. Coming from the Nike SportBand, this watch has blown me away. I could not be happier with this watch and all of the features that it has. And most of the features are customizable. Of everything I've mentioned, there are several more features that I haven't. And the price is pretty nice as well.

Good for serious runners! Posted by: from: Grand Junction, CO on I bought this watch for my use, and I bought the female version for my wife. Unfortunately, my wife could not keep a battery charge with the original one. I ended up returning it and getting it replaced. The replacement seems to work fine for her. Overall, it's a good watch. It seems to keep accurate time and distance measurements, has a reliable alarm, and I like the fact you can keep records of the runs, and upload them to the website for monitoring purposes. The only drawback I find is that when I'm finished with a run, I like to monitor my heart rate. The watch itself does not have a seconds function that allows me to manually check my heart rate. Guess I'll need to read the instructions more carefully to figure out an alternate method.

Works like it should! Posted by: from: on This watch works well! Complaints about time it takes to "find satelite" are vaild, BUT, it's only a minute or so AND ... come on ... it's a device strapped to your wrist finding multiple satelites in space. Let's be real. I have used it several times so far, including a 10k trail race through dense forest. Never missed a beat. Very accurate. Garmin's on-line data storage is very well sorted.

Great watch for the price Posted by: from: Union City, TN on I replaced my Forerunner 305 with this model, and although I do like it, I think I may have been spoiled by my old watch. The watch works well and is a good watch, but it just doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the 305 has. The main thing I miss is having to toggle during my run in order to be able to see my pace as the display only shows time and distance or calories and pace at one time. However, that isn't such a big deal, and the watch is a good one, especially for the price.
