Terrible case and poorly designed
Posted by: SngTech from: on
This is a terrible case and poorly designed.
I have the survivor for the iPad 2 and finally upgraded my iPad to the Air 2. Being very happy with the original Griffin Survivor, I bought the survivor for the Air 2 and greatly regret it.
1) Sound is muffled and distorted. Even though the case has ports for the speakers, it is misaligned (probably from tolerance issues) and covers the speakers. It sounds like I'm listening to everything through a plastic bag. When I tug on it slightly, it sounds much better but won't stay in place and becomes muffled again when I release the pressure from the speaker end.
2) having this issue, I decide to remove the case only to find I can't. After
30 minutes of "prying" according to the directions, my thumbs are bleeding and I'm giving up to avoid damage to my new iPad. There is obvious pressure to the screen when you try as you get those liquid lcd marks when then screen starts bending. My brand new iPad is permanently stuck in this stupid case. I can't remove my iPad from this case! This is a cell version too so it doesn't look like I can get to my SIM card anymore.
Yes, I've already reviewed Giffin's official video of installing their iPad air case as they mentioned in the other comment. I can't remove the darned thing without breaking my iPad. Give me back my iPad!

Bad reviews are for wrong version purchased
Posted by: Kevlarhabanero from: on
Product has received low scores for issues such as volume buttons not aligned properly and bubbly screen or play between screen cover and iPad. Make sure you buy the correct one, I found the one I purchased in a display mixed in with 1st generation iPad Air models Look for a sticker that says iPad Air 2 in bottom right hand corner of box. Salesman did not know difference between models as he tried to hand off a air 1 box to me. packaging looks identical between both air 1 and 2. All bad reviews make sense if you buy the wrong one. Don't be in a hurry! I found the right one and we are happy with it so far. There are no directions except pictures, luckily I have had experience with Griffin Survivor before (for iPod). Start by snapping iPad into the back part of case. Carefully snug rubber edge over this part of case on sides, clean screen with soft cloth, then snap screen protector on. Takes some time but worth it. Not as bulky as Otterbox, perhaps less protection, but perfect for kids.
Trust me on this, if you are looking for this type of iPad case then this is the one. Bestbuy should give me some bonus rewards points for this review, because I know that I just saved a whole bunch of returns on this product.

It worked ok but not a smooth fit
Posted by: Smallz from: on
I bought this because it's one of the only heavy duty cases that correctly fit the Ipad Air 2. When I installed it there was to much of a gap between the Ipad screen and the cases plastic cover. It made using the touch screen a little difficult when playing certain games. I ended up returning this

Poor Fitment, Terrible Screen Protector
Posted by: TGreek from: Shreveport, LA on
No instructions in the package, docked a point.
The fitment was TERRIBLE as in it was too tight, I felt like I was going to break the brand new ipad going in and removing it. Docked another two points.
The screen protector was terrible. It didn't touch the screen at all (I'm assuming this was due to the bubble issues they had before) and so it made a popping noise every time you would touch. Docked another point.
I wouldn't recommend this at all.

Damaged IPad Trying to remove the case
Posted by: Nikki from: on
I damaged my new iPad 128gb by trying to remove the case. It took me nearly an hour to finally remove it scratching and inadvertently cracking the camera glass, and bending my iPad. Not happy!!! I tried to gently remove it by hand and when that failed, I had to use a flat head screwdriver to pop it out of the case.
My iPad now is bowed and scratched beyond any future trade in value. Not happy!!!
I would not give any stars to this product, but a selection is required to post my comment.

Great cover-up put for a case and it was great to have a kickstand but I could not type on the screen becauseof the built in screen protector.

Very difficult to put on. Instructions are lacking. Screen cover is slacking so makes it difficult to touch spot.

Finger sensor does not work
Posted by: Viking from: on
Just bought this for iPad air 2, and the fingerprint sensor that works without the case no longer works. I deleted the finger print and tried to re-register fingers with the case on and the finger will not even get through the registration process. Do not buy this case if you have any desire to use finger print log on. If you are fine with passcode log in only then the case is good.

Strong case, slim design

Big believer in heavy duty cases, and have liked seeing good protection slimming down. This new version of the Survivor case is a prime example. Full coverage, lean design and easy to case up.

Perfect for non bulky protection
Posted by: Dragos1528 from: on
This is perfect to protect our new iPad without it being as bulky as the otter box cases. I've always loved the added protection of the otter box cases because we have a 4 year old and he's not the always the most careful. However after trying the Survivor case I don't think I'm ever going back to the otter box again. So light and non bulky its a joy to use.
