Best known for its FM-radio staple "Sweet Home Alabama," the music act Lynyrd Skynyrd - a hard-driving, high-rush-of-adrenaline band that smoothly melded blues, rock and country - actually experienced a long and prosperous career from its origins in the mid-1960s, through the late seventies (when it lost one of its key members to a tragic accident) and again with a comeback that bean in the early nineties and has extended to the present day. During this second wind, Skynyrd found a new generation of fans as it emerged with such albums as Endangered Species (1994), Southern Knights (1996), and - most recently - 2003's critically acclaimed Vicious Cycle.
