Best Vacuum we've used, EVER! Posted by: from: on We have used the Dyson (Animal) and went through two of those. Before that, it was a Kirby. When we got married, we bought a Hoover canister. It's still going strong, and vacuuming up after 3 cats on a lower floor. On the upper floor, we have 9 inside dogs (rescues), on carpet. I purchased this Hoover upright for 1/5 of the cost of the Dysons. Best Vacuum Ever. It's indestructible, and believe me, I know what it takes to destroy vacuum sweepers. Don't even hesitate, because as long as you keep the reusable filter clean (by washing it under the tap water faucet and allowing to air dry) it can handle anything NINE dogs can do to my house. Your toddler, pre-teen or teen can't hold a candle to the messes this vac can handle. YAY Hoover!!

Already Broken after 13 Months Posted by: from: on We purchased this vacuum in late April 2015, the cord no longer rewinds and the unit will not turn off at the switch, we need to plug and unplug it to turn it off. We moved into a new home that had homes being developed around us so we had dust being tracked on our floors. When we initially used the vacuum it picked up the fine dust but that only lasted a couple of months, it no longer picks up everything on the floor. To start off, this is an awful design, the holes in the canister stops up. I have had to unscrew the entire canister to clean it out which is not an easy feat. We are 65 years old and do not have pets or high traffic so this should have lasted longer than it did. Our last Hoover lasted 22 years with an occasional belt change. Save you money and get a Sharp!

Great Vaccum Posted by: from: on This Vaccum is surprisingly lightweight but also very durable. The retractable cord is awesome as well. I had seen this feature in vaccums before and didn't think it was much of a selling point but it made me realize how annoying putting away the cord can be without it! Picks up very well, I have pets so getting as much hair out of the carpet is key. The easy real ease button for emoting the canister is als super useful.

Poor dirt canister design Posted by: from: on The vacuum does a good job picking up dirt however it is a pain to empty the canister. Dog hair tends to stay stuck in the canister upon emptying which requires sticking one's hand in to remove contents. The canister is emptied regularly and before it is full and still it is troublesome. I feel I should shower after vacuuming. Not a good design in my opinion.

More value than expected on a real sucker! Posted by: from: Fennville, MI on Researched (a lot!) and almost bought a Shark. Decided on this vacuum instead and glad of it. Not near as noisy as our Rainbow! It is easy to maneuver, really pulls dirt and pet hair up into the collection tank and is so easy to empty. If you park it on the carpet to use the hose, just remember to park it in the full upright position and it locks the beater brushes high and up off the carpet. They may run,but they don't really damage or bother the carpet. One would expect that the engineers would think about such a thing and they did. Only when you release the head to pull the handle back does the main head go down on the floor to do the great job of sucking up all that pet hair and very fine dirt. Runs wonderful!!

Great suction! Posted by: from: Beaverton, OR on I was both amazed and appalled (since the old vacuum had left so much behind) at how much dirt this vacuum sucked up the first time I used it, just two days after vacuuming the house with my old vacuum cleaner. It works great! All onboard tools work well, and are very convenient. I am so pleased to get such a great machine at a reasonable price. My only criticism is that the O ring isn't great. Fine particles get by the upper seal in the canister. Not a deal breaker, just takes an extra step in emptying to clean the machine, but you should be aware.

Just an average vacuum cleaner. Posted by: from: Lakeland,FL on This is just an average vacuum cleaner. Although the dust bin has a supposedly easy-open latch, it still doesn't empty all of the contents unless you actually reach in and pull the debris out of the canister. The top of the dust bin has an almost impossible-to-open lid. The internal parts have to be unscrewed to be removed for cleaning. Just really a chore to clean after using. The cord is simply not long enough to go from room to room even in a small house. Further, the rewind apparatus is getting slower and slower even though we have only had it two months. This model does not have a light either. Also, it is very heavy and unwieldy to carry. Sand is attracted to the wheels and is deposited when you try to roll the vacuum after unplugging it. If you are looking for an average vacuum, this is the one. Intermediate price. Really would suggest that you shop around for another brand/model. This one is just not the hottest ticket on the market.

Does what it's supposed to Posted by: from: on Works well on its own and the attachments work better than most other vacuums I have used in my life. The automatic cord retracting mechanism is very nice too.

Gets the Job Done Posted by: from: on I bought this for my very elderly parents, who complained about the noise from their former Hoover upright (now toast.) So my mission was to find a budget-priced, quieter, all purpose home vacuum. This works well and has a good assortment of tools, unlike the Bissell I bought for myself. Those "pet hair" specialty vacs don't come with sensible tools for cleaning furniture, crevices, doorways, etc. This model is great for picking up pet hair and everything else, at a very reasonable price, and no more buying bags!
