A typical Japanese family finds their life thrown off balance with the arrival of a charming boarder who gradually edges his way into the family business while exposing the thin veneer they have put up to appear "normal." Mikio Kobayashi (Kenji Yamauchi) lives in a modest Tokyo duplex with his second wife Natsuki (Kiki Sugino) and his young daughter Eriko (Eriko Ono), who has been posting flyers all over town in search of her missing parakeet. In addition to functioning as the family home, the duplex also serves as the center of operations for Mikio's printing business. Shortly after Mikio welcomes his divorced sister Seiko (Kumi Hyodo) into his home, kindly stranger Kagawa (Kanji Furutachi) appears at the home claiming he may have a lead on Eriko's missing pet. Before long, Kagawa has moved into a spare bedroom, and begun working alongside Mikio in the printing shop. Though Kagawa's loud lovemaking sessions with his enigmatic, Caucasian wife Annabelle (Bryerly Long) are mildly disruptive, Mikio and his family do their best to maintain a polite disposition. But in no time the modest family home is overflowing with uninvited guests, disrupting Mikio's once-pleasant life and catching the attention of the neighborhood's particularly observant neighborhood watch group. As the tension starts to grow thick, the hapless family wonders if they will ever know peace and quiet again. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
