Poor Battery life, Cables seem fragile. Can not read the LCD display in sunlight.

I ended up getting a gift card for Christmas and decided to pull the trigger. My primary use for a remote thermometer is when I am smoking meat for long periods of time. It is key that I do not open the smoker because then I lose heat. This way I can keep a eye on the temperature and make sure I do not overcook. At first I thought the thermometer probe was giving incorrect readings. Come to find out it was my lack of knowledge about how to place the probe correctly in meat. Since I started doing this correctly (tip of the probe in the center of the meat away from the bone) I have nothing but good experiences. My only complaints are that the app has the capability to produce a graph of the cooking temperature....if you multitask and switch to another app then come back the past history is gone. But really, I would probably only use the graph once to see it...no big deal. I also wish that I could pair it to my iPhone and iPad at the same time. You can only pair once device at a time. Other than that it is a very good product. The battery life is amazing. (over 40 hours without replacing the batteries) Very handy to have so I do not have to keep going outside and checking a temperature.
