Accurate and Easy to Use!

Compared the readings taken from this device with the readings taken at my doctor's office. They were within 3 to 4 points of each other. I'll chalk the difference up to "nurse's decision making on what her reading was skill". I did this about 5 times until I felt comfortable that it wasn't a fluke that the readings were so close. Trusting a "machine" to record something as important as blood pressure took a bit to accept.
The device works with iOS or Android. I have used both platforms and they are equal in performance and features as to the iHealth app.
The device itself is easy to get on and off. It never felt like it was going to squeeze my wrist off. The bluetooth feature works very well with minimum fuss to pair. (It auto pairs when you start the iHealth app so you do not have to manually do it each time.) The device is "rechargeable" and keeps a charge for quite a number of readings. I think we have got as many 60 readings before having to charge it back up using the included usb cable.
I like how the app tracks your readings over time and lets you see the readings on a plot graph. The app also lets you use multiple devices (from same company) and keeps track of them together for you.
This little device is so small that I have given it to our office staff so that we all use it in the office to monitor our blood pressure. (Each of us use a different phone/app so I can say that you can use multiple users with the same device.) Our ages range from 31 to 68 and all of can use the device with no trouble by ourselves. The device comes in a hard plastic case that is easy to open and close and is very compact.

Full of Tech Sphygmomanometer
Posted by: breviceps from: Owings Mills, MD on
I've had a solid month of use before reviewing this product and I am very pleased with my purchase. I was actually surprised that for the first time, Best Buy's price was actually cheaper than Amazon's!
This sphygmomanometer fits comfortably around your wrist/forearm area. It has to be positioned about an inch below where the hand and forearm meet to get an accurate reading. The strap is adjustable to fit various forearm sizes and it is securely latched on via velcro straps. The design is very minimalistic, looks like the same material as a white iPod. With a Start/Stop button on top, and a mini usb port at the bottom to be used to recharge the unit.
The BP cuff must be fully charged before it is first used. It does come with the mini usb charging cable. When it is plugged in, there is a green square outline that flashes intermittently. Once it stops flashing and you see a solid green square outline, it means that it is fully charged and ready for use. In addition, you must first download the iHealth app (in my case, from the App Store). This cuff cannot be used without a smartphone.
Everything is controlled via the application. Once you strap the cuff onto your forearm, it triggers a button underneath the white part of the cuff to link via bluetooth to the phone. During the first reading, it will ask which arm you would normally take your readings. You press the test button and the application makes sure that your arm is in the correct level, as the same plane as your heart. Once you're in the right range, you press the start button. Make sure that the strap in snug and not loose to get an accurate reading.
Once the reading is complete, the blood pressure result is clearly indicated with big numbers. The heart rate is also measured. There is a bar to the left side which shows the range of blood pressure readings. It is a color gradient similar to a traffic light: Three hues of green from dark to light, then a golden yellow, orange, and red. The readings are based on WHO (World Health Organization) BP classifications. So it's best to stay in the green hues. There is a space at the bottom to write your own notes about the reading, which is helpful if your readings are higher than normal because you can indicate the reason (like if you're stressed).
The sub menus has graphs, trends. You can create a profile, input your weight, set multiple alarms for notification (i.e. like when to take your antihypertensive meds). What's neat is that it keeps a permanent record of your reading via phone and through your account online. The readings can be easily emailed to your physician along with several graphs.
The only caveat is that everything is controlled from the smartphone. It can't be used by itself to start a reading. The cuff itself doesn't record any readings. The start/stop button on the cuff is only used to fire up the bluetooth connection to your phone.
The cuff is very compact and comes with a carrying case. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this machine to anyone who has a smartphone and needs to keep a record of their blood pressure readings on a regular basis.

Easy to use and accurate.

It's quick and easy to use--doing it when you get up in the morning is a snap. Once it's attached to your wrist, the software will tell you how the wrist should be elevated relative to your heart to get a proper reading. The readings it produces are consistent with ones I've gotten at the doctor's office, so I have no doubts about its accuracy. It integrates with Tactio Health, a popular IPhone/IPad application.

Finicky and lacking polish, but a good buy
Posted by: Dzanda from: Hampton Roads, Virginia on
The BP7 is reasonably convenient to use, once you get used to how sensitive it is about wrist positioning. Your wrist position has to be JUST RIGHT, or you will see endless graphics directing you to re-position, or to even use your left wrist...which you already were using!
Anyone who cannot use their left wrist for blood pressure measurements is out of luck: the device isn't set up for use on the right.
The Android app is pretty basic and a bit rough around the edges, but it gets the job done so long as you can be happy with very simple graphing and trending. A company rep told me that a new version of the app should be out "soon". The app is not supported by the common health apps, so you can't easily pull your data into them at this time.

Does exactly as advertised
Posted by: ZEyeDoc from: Fort Worth, TX on
I wanted to track my BP readings on my phone without needing to manually enter them every time. This fills the bill perfectly. Start the app and it automatically connects via Bluetooth to the cuff. Tap the button on the app and the reading is made. Easy to spot trends and changes.
