Battery Mod with Qi Wireless Charging
Posted by: Derek510 from: Bay Area, Cali on
I purchased the battery mod online for in-store pick up for those just in case moments where you're on a trip without your car charger (because not everyone has a USB-C car charger# and it works well. Surprisingly what isn't mentioned in the product description is that it also has wireless charging. It can be charged while it is connected to the Moto Z Droid/Z Force Droid, and it can be charged using a Qi Wireless Charging Pad #connected to the phone or by itself). Efficiency mode helps make the battery mod last longer while connected to the phone and keeps the phone charged at 80% until basically the mod's charge is drained.

With this mod it gives me 5700 battery
Posted by: Mymotoiscoolerthanuriphon from: on
Love this mod. Not only does it give me an instant battery good for a good 5-6 hours of hardcore usage but it also gives a little more grip to your phone. Moto/Lenovo is not getting enough credit. This is my favorite phone so far and I have had iPhone, Samsung, HTC. This smart phone is just smarter. From notification glance to double chop flashlight. I could go on and on. I think they put there money into making a kickass phone. Instead of marketing.. hint hint Samsung

Works as designed
Posted by: Josh454 from: Chicago, IL on
Purchased this for a Droid Force and it works perfectly. Combined with the main battery I can get 2 days of use out of the phone, I've never even gotten 24 hours before with brand new phones.
The wireless charging is very convenient and I would never buy one without it. With the wireless you can charge the pack by itself while still using the phone.
It honestly makes it easier to hold the phone with it on as it has a nice textured back and it's barely thicker with it snapped on than my old Maxx with a thin case.
I would highly recommend this even just as an alternative to a battery bank and will probably buy a few more.

Added battery on the fly
Posted by: MotoMan from: on
This is probably the smartest way to get additional battery life on the go that any smartphone/accessory company has come up with so far. Some phones have user-changeable batteries, which is only so useful in a pinch because you have to power down the phone, pop out the dead battery, pop in the charged one, then turn the phone back on again. Portable "charging banks" are slightly better, because you neither have to power down your phone nor find a wall outlet to charge up, but in the end you're still tethered by a wire of some kind to the power bank which is awkward at best if you're moving around.
Then there's this... the Moto Mod implementation of the power bank. Getting low on battery? Grab one of these, it magnetically attaches to the back of any Moto Z family phone, and boom, you get an extra 2220 mAh of battery. Granted, this is not as much capacity as most portable power banks offer (those can be as high as 10,000 mAh or more) but it's certainly enough to give the phone a good amount of additional battery life.
To address a complaint I've seen around the internet: "this charges the phone slowly". Yes, that is more or less correct, as it has a max output of 1A. However, this is not really an issue. What I have found is that if you're actively using the phone with this attached, it seems to mostly draw battery from the power pack rather than the phone's battery. If the drain isn't high enough, or if the phone is mostly idle, it will charge up the phone's battery at a moderate pace (wayyy slower than the Turbo wall charger, but again, fast enough for most uses). Mine has even kept pace and very slowly increased my phone's battery while using navigation and playing an audio book at the same time. This to me is perfectly acceptable. If they pushed more current out of the power pack, all of the extra heat generated would reduce the battery life and longevity of both batteries, so I am 100% happy with the speed they chose.
One last note: buy the wireless charging one (this one, or the wireless charging version of the Kate Spade or Tumi ones). They are only $10 more for the wireless charging, and it makes this way more convenient. I can completely drain one of these on my phone, then just pop it on the wireless charger while I keep using my phone. The non-wireless charging ones have to be charged while connected to the phone, and the phone to the wall charger. It's less convenient, but still works out okay... We have one of these and one of the non-wireless charging Kate Spade ones, and I wish I had just forked over the extra $10 for the wireless charging Kate Spade one.
I give this 4 stars. Good quality, amazing portability. For the features, I think this is quite a bit overpriced. I was able to get mine partially on sale and partially with a gift card, so it wan't too bad, but it would be hard to justify the list price under most circumstances. So 4 stars overall.

Extends the phone's battery tremendously
Posted by: adauria from: Wake Forest NC on
I bought this with my z Force and put it on, configured it to "efficiency mode." I have not removed it since. The phone runs down to 80%, then this add on kicks in until it runs down, effectively giving the Force a 5700 mAh battery. I don't ever worry about running out of juice.
Yes, it makes the phone very heavy and thick, but who actually cares? Battery life is very important to me, so it's a fine trade off, plus I can remove it if I ever want to travel lighter.

seemless charging on the go
Posted by: josh from: on
This really is a useful device. I was reluctant to spend so much money for what's essentially an external charger, but it is nice to slap this on and not have any extra wires or bulky items to carry around. Also adds wireless charging, which would be more useful if the phone also had wireless charging. But it is nice that this can sit on a wireless charger and I know it's always there and ready when I need it. -1 star for the price compared to other battery packs.

I got the Incipio Off grid power pack Moto Mod for free when I preordered the Moto Z Play from Best Buy. Such a great offer and I love the product. First of all, the battery pack is a lot slimmer than I thought it would be. The thing is actually thinner than my phone itself. Also, it is very easy to use. You just "slap" it on the back and it starts charging your battery in a flash. No set up and no hassle. Also, the wireless charging feature is incredibly useful. And if your worried this battery will not last as long as you would like, don't worry about it. This thing lasts for hours on end, allowing me and my device to do more.

Another cool accessory for the Moto Phones. I carry it around in my work bag in case I need the extra charge.

I get 3-4 days before charging. It's easy to use but does add some weight to the phone.

Unlike the Tumi. This pack has a nice back that has some good grip. The thickness is not so much an issue. Feels great in the hand on a z force. The mod does add some heft but you get use to it. Phone gets 12 hours of on screen time with it.
