Hard to beat for $20
Posted by: BlaineA from: Rancho Mirage, CA on
I bought these speakers today only because I needed something that takes up less space than the current 5.1 speaker set up I was using. I primarily use my headset for sound, but its nice to not have to wear that all the time while listening to music. I decided to go the cheap route and find something that looked nice on the desk. For $20, I don't think you can beat the sound. People need to remember with speakers, you get exactly what you pay for. That being said at $20 I was quite impressed with the sound these speakers produced. I hear no hum which was mentioned in another review. As far as thumping bass, these are lacking, obviously. But these speakers do play very low midrange nicely. All in all I am very impressed by this purchase, and if you are looking for a set of speakers for under $20, I would pick these up.

My old monitor died. I was given a new one by my aunt but had no speakers in it like my old one. I was need of sound but being on a budget I couldn't afford much. Finding good speakers on a budget is hard and took some time. After doing my homework and reading a lot of reviews i thought i'd give these a try. I was surprised when i plugged them. They offer good sound for every day use.

Great speakers for the price.

I just bought these speakers to replace my terrible Logitech USB speakers. I am more than pleased with what I received for the price. The sound quality is good although there is no bass what so ever. It's nothing a sub-woofer can't fix. I recommend these speakers to anyone who is shopping for speakers on a slim budget. These are definitely the best quality of all the cheap-o speakers out there.

Great speakers for a great price!

I absolutely love these speakers! The sound is very clear, and the volume can be very loud. Between these and the Logitech speakers, this is definitely the better.

Works for a while, then dies completely un useable

Initially the sound was OK for the price, you can't turn it up too loud other wise it screeches. After about 10 months the speakers are unbearable. They screech, the sound speed slows and dips, the speakers 'crackle' over your music/ video playing. Awful. I won't be buying this brand again, trying to search for a better quality under $50.

I just purchased a new computer and was in the market to get some fairly cheap speakers for it. $19.99 After I hooked these up which was easy they sound pretty good. I would recommend these to other people and they dont look bad either.

Speakers for a Budget
Posted by: Rarthus from: Somewhere in Gofindoutyourself, USA on
My previous speakers were something of a, creative solution so I wasn't at all surprised when the left was starting to give me no sound at all. Frustrated, I knew that I needed a quick replacement and my current financial situation wouldn't allow me to spend any more than $20, $25, maybe $30 tops. So these Insignia Speakers caught my eye and by no means is Insignia a bad brand. In actuality, it's a brand created within Best Buy and do a great job for anyone who's not looking to spend a lot of money on the unnecessary. I just needed something that would me to hear the audio of videos or music on my computer and man do these do the job. The common complaint I read about in the reviews is that the volume knob is a little tough to turn and this is true. But other than that, if you need some speakers for a low price and for non-professional work? Look no further than these.

Perfect price for my needs
Posted by: YangKitten from: on
I walked into Best Buy and said "I want cheap speakers that plug into a headphone jack that will work for a mini-DVD player and a mini-netbook." This was the box they handed me, and it was perfect! I just needed to enhance the sound on things that had really quiet speakers, and these get the job done. It's not the speakers for an immersive experience; the sound can get a little tinny if up high. But just to be able to hear your netbook or play your iPod without headphones, it works perfectly. Easy to set up, light in weight. The only downside is that the two cords can easily get tangled together if you throw them in a bag; it would be nice if they had some place to wind around or some sort of cord holder. Would recommend for anyone who needs a cheap solution for sound, and, if they happen to die (no problems so far though!), you don't feel like you wasted a ton of money on them.

Sound quality at a low price
Posted by: twain6 from: Minneapolis, MN on
At first, I was a little hesistant because I used to own a Insignia portable CD player back when they were in and it was cheap. My thing was to find desktop computer speakers with good quality because i'm particular about sound quality, but they had to be affordable. When I got the speakers they were definitely better quality than the old Dell speakers that I bought when I built my computer, which was kind of shocking because they sound better than I expected.
There are speakers that cost more that are way better but these are solid, especially if you're on a budget.
