Perfect size upright freezer for smaller family
Posted by: Eileen from: on
I wanted an extra freezer to put in the garage since I'm a new mom and have been stockpiling breastmilk which started to take over my freezer (plus we don't use the built in ice maker in the freezer so we buy ice bags that seem to take up way too much space!). What a great choice! This freezer is not too big, not too small. I wish the shelves were adjustable but they are spaced out nicely so haven't caused me any problems. The very top shelf is small, about 3 inches high, the next shelf below that is 7 inches, and all others below thar are about 10 inches high. Really easy to see what's in there with low risk of something getting buried and forgotten. There were no reviews on this model so I bought the 3 year geek protection to be on the safe side. So far, so good! Love the size most of all.

Great Freezer "Add-on"
Posted by: Kp734 from: on
We were looking for a small freezer to supplement our bottom freezer which can't handle things like large pizzas or Christmas hams. This does it all! The shelves are stationary, yet generous. There is a narrow top edge that holds all the ice packs for us (or a pizza) the shelves themselves are white heavy duty plastic edges with white coated wire centers.(narrow gaps so nothing falls through) giving a clean look overall. This freezer has worked perfectly for us, even being in the garage in the heat of a southern summer! I don't have it set to max (3/4 of the way) and the ice cream is rock hard. Our utility bill is running about $2.50 more per month. In all, we are happy the we found this unit! (We had to ask about it; there wasn't anything on display to let us know BB sells small freezers)

Pretty Darn Happy with this Purchase
Posted by: Susieq99 from: Central California on
I have had this upright freezer a month and so far no problems. I live in a mobile home and bought all new kitchen appliances a year ago, but because of needing a fridge/freezer counter depth I was extremely limited in selection so ended up with a very small bottom freezer in the fridge I purchased. I was finding this to be inadequate so I researched standing freezers for a tight spot I had available and this Insignia had consistently good reviews, while the Igloo had consistently bad reviews. After making sure it would fit I ordered it at my local Best Buy from a great manager who really understood customer relations. It was delivered on Friday the 13th and I was a bit superstitious. That afternoon my neighborhood had a power failure due to an accident. Power was returned about 2 1/2 hrs later and the freezer was continuing to get to freezing temp; I was very impressed. Then I went to Costco and filled it up. Within 2 hrs I was notified that the power for the mobile home park I live in was going to have to turn off power for 12 to 20 hrs. Oh no! But this little champ performed great. I didn't open the door until the next day (the power came back on after 10 hrs) everything was still frozen in the Insignia, but in my fridge, the freezer was starting to melt ice cubes. It is very quiet and has well placed (but non-movable) shelves. I am finding it really handy and it has solved a big problem for me. The height between all but 2 shelves is 9 1/2 inches and it is about 7 1/2 on the bottom (which is more like a half or 3/4 depth shelf), and the very top shelf is only about 2" from the top (probably for air circulation but I put 2 ice packs on that shelf and my themometer.) For reference, you can put one of Costcos frozen Pizza boxes of 4 pizzas) easily on the shelf but its just a bit shy of being able to stack 2 of those boxes, plus there is free room on the side for something else. My one problem was the plug in cord. Before it was delivered I bought a new 9' appliance grade, grounded extension cord and was so proud of myself for thinking of that ahead of time. It needed to be plugged into the sole outlet that the fridge is plugged into (on the other side of a wall). It was long enough, but both the upright freezer and my fridge had 3 prong plugs that only fit into the plate in one direction (with the cord coming from the bottom), so I could not use the top socket. I was able to make it work in a different socket but now the extension cord is very obvious. I believe the cord that is attached to the freezer is about 59".

I looked extensively On-line and brick & mortar stores. This was the highest rated and best value! I picked it up directly from the store. unpacked it, it was cold 15 min. later. I love the fact that its vertical not chest. You can see what you have in the freezer just opening the door! Better and cheaper than the Kenmore. They wanted 299.00 for the same fridge. Wonderful value. Thanks Best Buy!

Great backup freezer

runs quiet, freezes food quickly and effectively. this product is economical to operate. It size fits our needs well as it does not take up much space. We prefer an upright freezer rather than one that requires you to pile food on top of each other. The upright feature is perfect for our needs. Would be better if this product came in a frost free version.

Great fit in the garage
Posted by: gameon from: on
I purchased this freezer for the only reason that our main freezer has a door jam. I actually love our new freezer. It is spacious but of course money was an issue and the cost fit our budget. I do not have any complains. It freezes really well and fast, started cooling as soon as it was plugged in. My wife is happy, she's enjoying your frozen ice and ice creams.

Great compact freezer

This freezer is a must for my growing extended family. With another grandchild on the way we can purchase on-sale items inbulk and cook and freeze dinners for busy nights. The upright design is great because you can see everything, no bending over and digging through a chest freezer. It doesn't take up much floor space either. Its quiet running and the door seals tightly, so no toddler can open it. efinately a "Best Buy".

This freezer doesn't take up a lot of space and works great. It's colder toward the top than the bottom and has to be defrosted kind of frequently.

excellent space for the money

was looking for something so that I could purchase large amounts of items when on sale so I could "stock up" and I needed the extra freezer space....plus a little space for the deer meat once a year.
this fit the bill perfectly and allows me to keep about 150 pounds of meat and other things in there without breaking the bank and purchasing a full size freezer at twice or more the cost
it takes up little space and fits easily just about anywhere
