I am writing this out of anger. Bought in April 2016 and it died December 2016. Bought the Geek Squad warranty. No one on Geek Squad could come fix it so they sent another maintenance company to fix. After waiting 4 weeks they finally came and the parts they bought did not fix my TV. Instead of getting a new TV, as I was told by a Geek Squad representative, the maintenance guys are taking it to their shop for another week to try and fix it. Not sure why I bought the Geek Squad warranty to be honest and lost confidence in this TV, Brand, and company. I feel like this is too much for a TV that is not even a year old. Feel like I bought a Lemon.

North Texas Indoor Digital Billboards Locations

I have bought 8 of these units in the past 2 months. They all have worked flawlessly. My only suggestion is have the guys at the exit door open the box and look for shipping damage no matter what size screen you buy. My store does this automatically for the 50" and 55" screens. I had them check the 40" also because the box looked a little crinkled and sure enough both were damaged. This has nothing to do with the product but everything to do with the shipping company that delivered them to the store. Overall a good product.

so far so good

I bought the previous model in Feb and was very happy with it. When I tried to buy it again in the beginning of May, it was discontinued and this model replaced it about a month later. The only real difference between the two models is that the newer one has 2 10w speakers instead of one and the sound is much better. This model was on sale for $379.99 which is a great price for an entry level 55" HD TV. It doesn't have the bells and whistles, but I didn't want them. This set was delivered on schedule and within the window. They had it up and running in 15 minutes and I've been watching it for 5 hours and it's been running as hoped. The remote for this is about 1/2 the size of the previous mode. but fully functional. I'm very happy with this pruchase.

Good TV for Cheap price

We are big fans of Insignia. We have 2 Insignia TVs at home already and bought this TV few days ago. It has DTS. Sound is little bit improved. For $379 it's the best bet as we had very positive experience with Insignia products in the past. One of our TV is 42" (4 years old) and another one is 32"(3 years old). Both TVs are working like a charm. no trouble whatsoever.
Why did we give 4 stars? because somehow when the screen is black or there is a night scene, We can see a off white very very light spot coming out from the left side of the TV screen and spreading towards the middle of the screen. If We see it from the side then the spot is more visible. We will wait for few more days before taking any action. May be we got the defective piece.
other than that, The TV is very good. Picture quality is awesome. I won't buy expensive LG, Sony or Samsung to get the same picture quality I get on Insignia. We hooked it with my Sony Blu-Ray player and it became the smart TV now. I saved $150!! Also, We hooked it with the $60 worth woofer set. Now we have our own movie theater!!!
I will definitely recommend this TV. Don't just buy an expensive TV for the sack of the brand name. This brand is worth to give a try.

TV was fine but done as a Best Buy Customer
Posted by: Jeff from: on
I've waited a week before writing this review and typically don’t write reviews but have always enjoyed reading them as research when looking at products. However, based on my experience with Best Buy customer service after purchasing this 55” Insignia TV at the Perimeter Mall Best Buy in Atlanta, GA, I feel the need to post this as a warning. I can't really tell you if this particular Insignia 55” TV is good or not since it never worked for me but I have another 55" Insignia TV I purchased 2+ years ago and have always enjoyed that one. My complaint is with Best Buy policy and customer service. I have spent $1,000's of dollars at Best Buy over the last 20 years which included purchasing TV's, laptop computers, printers, routers, hard drives, etc. with no complaints and I don't remember ever returning a single item.
My family recently purchased a townhouse two hours from Atlanta to use on weekends. We purchased this TV on Labor Day and I took it to the townhouse the following weekend. Unfortunately, we didn't have cable setup yet so I took it out of the box and set it up on the stand then threw the box away with no worries that it wouldn’t work based on my past experiences. The cable was hooked up the following week and when I went back down the follwong Friday, I hooked up the TV and turned it on. The middle of the screen appeared to have an internal crack on the side, no damage to the external screen, and the bottom half was completely distorted. I had thrown away the box the following weekend so I put it in the back of my SUV to bring back to Best Buy where it was purchased. Apparently the back got a scratched while transporting it which they quickly pointed out as physical damage. When I returned it to the Best Buy 13 days after purchasing it to swap it out for the same TV, I was informed that they will not take it back because it had physical damage. When I pushed the manager on that and point blank asked him, “if I buy a TV, take it home, take it out of the box, turn it on and it had the same damage and immediately bring it back within the hour, would you swap it out”, his response was “NO”. Their policy, which I wasn’t aware of, is you can have them open it up, test it before you leave and box it back up, but once you leave they will not take if it does not work, you have to deal with the vendor. I did call Insignia and the agent submitted a case and said since it was within the 15 days, Best Buy should take it back and was surprised they would not. Since they use the Geek Squad and Best Buy for service, I was back to dealing with Best Buy.
Bottom line, while I hate to throw away $350, the money is not that big of a deal, it’s the principal. If they care so little about customer service and are willing to lose a 20-year customer, my brother and many of our family and friends over a $350 TV, then so be it. There are too many other options today between local stores and online to give them another cent of my money and based on the number of family and friends who will no longer shop at Best Buy, they will lose many more $1,000s in the future.
My warning to anyone reading this, be careful with purchases at Best Buy. According to the local manager here in Atlanta, their policy is if you walk out with it, get it home and it doesn't work, too bad, they won’t take it back. They would rather keep your money then keep you as a customer!

So far,so good

I got tired of paying top dollar for appliances that fail after 18 months.
This tv looks good, has no frills, decent sound and picture and interfaces easily with my streaming devices. I use an antennae mounted in my attic for all my HD network channels and the digital tuner works flawlessly.
It's been about a month and so far so good....If I had to make my assessment right now I would say this is a home run ...just buy it ,you'll like it.

Just a whole bunch of bang for the buck!
Posted by: Burley1 from: on
So I got tired of not having the modern connections on the back of my old Sony Grand Wega. I don't really feel like I care as much about TV these days. Started looking and they crazy prices had really put me off. I saw this one and thought I've never been disappointed in past insignia purchases in the past. Then I read the reviews....sold. Brought it home, hooked it up and it's just as expected, just a great TV and great bang for the buck.
Thanks again Best Buy..

product failed after 2 weeks
Posted by: Brian from: on
after 2 week the video portion of the tv failed and only could hear sound.
Had to drive 100 lies back to town the following day and then back 100 mies to the house to meet the direct tv man for an infall. went with a brand LG--learned a lesson --do not buy the least extensive tv--get what you pay for
