Synopsis

Investigative Reports: L.A. Riots Revisited
This documentary, part of the Investigative Reports series from A&E, examines the horror and aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Triggered by the verdict in the police beating trial of Rodney King, L.A. exploded into a city of fires, violence, and looting. Narrated by Investigative Reports host and producer Bill Kurtis, this program features lost footage from the infamous Rodney King videotape, which shows King charging the police officers before the police began savagely beating him. Police experts talk about how King could have been restrained properly within seconds. An examination of the Los Angeles Police Department concludes that the organization failed in the midst of the riots. Also, members from the First African American Church talk about the progress Los Angeles has made since the 1992 riots and how this event has permanently affected not only the city, but also the entire country. ~ Cecilia Cygnar, Rovi
