Synopsis

Investigative Reports: Return to the Killing Fields
This documentary, part of the A&E Investigative Reports series, goes inside the 1975 to 1979 Cambodian conflict with the Khmer Rouge. Series producer and host Bill Kurtis heads to modern-day Cambodia where life is very different from the years of the "killing fields." This episode retells some of the devastating and horrifying crimes that took place under the Khmer Rouge, including the execution or murder of over four million people. After winning control of Cambodia in 1975 through a guerrilla war, the Khmer Rouge began to eliminate certain classes of Cambodian society, trying to build a pure Communist country. Investigative Reports interviews some of the Cambodians who witnessed these years of horror, including some of the survivors who managed to escape from the systemic killings. ~ Cecilia Cygnar, Rovi
