Sound good but forget wireless video
Posted by: ericire from: NJ on
I bought these to watch videos, movies, etc. while my wife watches boring judge shows. Well there is a 2 second delay, a lag I would call it, while watching videos. JBL has no fix for this and I'm currently waiting for a replacement to ship from them.
JBL's service has been slow but polite. Had I known it was going to take so long for them to remedy this I would have tried returning them outright instead. Also, I sent them back 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the replacement.....Pass these up and go for Beats instead.

Fatal Flaw and Misleading Packaging
Posted by: Jk89 from: on
Let me preface the below review by saying I'm a huge JBL fan and typically love their products. That's why it's so frustrating that I can't possibly enjoy or recommend the Everest 700 line as it exists currently.
I bought the gray-colored Everest 700s after returning the 300s because the 300s were uncomfortable to wear for more than 30-40 minutes. Now, I'll sadly be returning these as well because of severe audio delay issues. On every device I've tried (iPad Air 2, iPhone 6, MacBook Air) the audio is anywhere between 1-3 seconds behind the video, making it annoying and almost impossible to watch. The audio sounds great for listening to music, but the delay when watching video is a total deal-breaker. I've tried all the trouble shooting steps I could possibly think of or find online to fix the audio delay issue to no avail. I also tried calling JBL support several times during their posted customer service hours, but only received a recorded message stating they were unavailable.
Another very strange thing worth mentioning is that the gray color Everest 700s look almost nothing like the image on the website and box (see my images attached) being all around much lighter especially on the ear cups. They don't look bad per se, just totally different and not nearly as sleek as the packaging and images online depict.
For $200 headphones with the JBL moniker attached, I expected a flawless experience. This is far from the case. I'm extremely disappointed that these have such a fatal flaw, and I'll be returning them within 24 hours to turn my attention towards a product that functions properly, perhaps not JBL I'm sad to say.

I have really enjoyed the Bluetooth headphones. They make it great for late night TV. I can watch without the worry of waking up others in household. I just turn them on and forget about the worry. Simple to set up and use every time I watch TV at night. The charge lasts for days.

Awesome headphones for a fair price
Posted by: Hawksfan34 from: IL on
Wanting to get a new pair of headphones, I went to Best Buy and tried on many pairs by different brands. I eventually purchased Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones, which were on sale for $200. I returned them a couple hours later. The sound quality was what I expected, but they were uncomfortable and the sound leaked pretty badly out of the speakers. I was always hesitant about Beats headphones, and this confirmed for me that they are an overpriced big brand name whose products don't measure up to competitors with lower price points.
So, I went back to Best Buy and purchased this pair of headphones after a little more browsing. I decided I wanted an over-the-ear style, rather than an on-the-year (like the Beats), to prevent sound leakage. My budget cap was about $200, ruling out the $300 elite pair. Bose headphones were out of my price range, and the Sony wireless extra bass headphones were a bit large and bulky for my taste. So that's how I landed on this pair.
The first and most important thing I'll address is the other reviews that mention the audio lag when watching videos. On first use, I tested this out via Youtube and experienced it myself. As some of the JBL responses indicate, there has been a software update that completely eliminates this problem. It is a very easy process and takes about 5 minutes to complete. At first it seemed a little intimidating and strange that headphones could need a software update, but it's painless. I promise.
Here is the url for the software update (Yes, it's a link to the Everest 300 pair, but the proper software isn't available on the Everest 700 page for some reason. It's the same software though)
After clicking the link, scroll down and click on "Manuals & Downloads" and then "HID software". After it downloads, unzip the files, open up the pdf instructions, and follow along. Again, it only takes a few minutes. Once the firmware update is done, you will no longer experience any lag while watching videos.
My entire review is based on having the updated software, listening to primarily rock/alternative music, and using the wireless function rather than the aux plug.
Comfortable - the cushions around the ears fit well and are soft. The cushion on top of the head is also comfortable
Great sound - They get impressively loud and the bass is just right in my opinion. Not too much to where it overwhelms, but not too low either. In most cases though, I recommend to use EQ settings on whatever device you're using to listen to music to personalize your sound preferences.
Bluetooth connectivity is simple and quick
Very minimal sound leakage - I tend to listen to my music loud, so this can create a small amount of leakage at times. Compared to other headphones I've tried, the leakage here is MUCH smaller than other pairs. If you're listening at a normal volume, leakage is basically nothing
The headphones fold up nicely
The buttons on the exterior function well on android (play, pause, volume, etc.)
You can use the provided aux cord (which has a volume button, play/pause button, and mic) if you wish or if the battery dies
Style - Personally, I dislike how Beats headphones look because they're plasticy and glossy, meaning finger prints get all over them. I also don't prefer big bulky headphones, such as the Sony wireless extra bass headphones. For over-the-ear headphones, these were the sleekest and most stylish in my opinion. The finish on the headphones is nice, and for over-the-ear headphones, they're pretty lightweight and compact.
It does not come with a carrying/travel case
If you want to count this as a con, I wish it came in more colors. The store I purchased from only had gray in stock, and it looks decent. According to the site there is also black though
When adjusting the headphones to fit the size of your head, the slider does not have any lock-in feature to keep it at that size. Sometimes I'll adjust them to the appropriate size, and I'll accidentally expand or retract one of the speakers when putting them on or taking them off
Overall, I feel as if this pair of headphones deserves 5 stars. For $200 it's hard to find a great pair of headphones. Everyone has different aesthetic, sound, and functionality preferences on their headphones. Personally, I use my headphones in more of a causal setting when lying around the house listening to music, or the occasional traveling on airplanes/in cars. So I just needed something that would stay comfortable for a long time, provide great sound, and not leak out sound to disturb others who are around. These headphones do everything I need them to do. I feel that my money was well spent on these.

As the earphones are a gift, I listened to several at the store and found these to sound the best. They also felt really comfortable on my ears and being wireless is the absolute plus

Wanted some Beats by Dre...

I saw these headphones while browsing the local ad, I was thinking about purchasing some Beats, but figured I'd go with these. I am glad that I did, the quality of the headphones are awesome, not to mention they sound and look amazing.

Great, unless you want them for tv

Sound quality is pretty dang good. Unfortunately the delay between audio and video is really bad. Talked to customer service twice, both times it seemed like the person on the other end didn't even know what headphones were.

Bug finally fixed! Fantastic headphones!!!

Update!!!!! From the manager of their customer support division,
Your timing is perfect. We just released a firmware update for them. The update is found in the Manuals & Download section on the product page; it is listed as HID Software. As a beta tester I ran through 3 updates earlier this week with no problem."
I just performed the update and they work beautifully!!!! I am now officially thrilled with this purchase and highly recommend them to anyone. It's a bit annoying that it took all the hullabaloo to get to this point, but all's well that ends well.

Comfy with good sound, bad lag with TV
Posted by: Jeff from: on
The good: Good sound, and even though they aren't noise canceling, very little ambient noise is heard through the pads. Comfortable for the short period of time I wore them. Paired easily with my TV.
The bad: Terrible lag of a second or more between sound and video on my TV. This makes it useless for games, movies/shows.
Would be good if you are listening to audio only, otherwise, not.

Good sound quality, hard on the ears after awhile
Posted by: YLWBLUR from: on
Flying to and from Hawaii, these headphones tend to leave your ears a bit sore, as they are over the ear if your ears are the size of quarters.
