modern meets retro at a great value

I love this. I've accumulated lots of vinyl over the years and have never been able to listen to any of it. I didn't want to spend much on technology that isn't very portable but I love the sound of a record so I got this. At less than $80 it's certainly worth the gamble and turns out the quality is pretty good. The speakers aren't great but you can hook up audio cables to to your receiver or speakers to produce better sound if you want. The coolest thing about this is you can hook it up to your computer and rip all the tunes to your library if you want - that kind of defeats the purpose of having this though. This is highly recommended. Boom.

Really liked the portability and the overall sound plus the ease of use for the first time. Instructions were simple and straightforward.

I bought this for my son who likes vynil music. I was disappointed on Best Buy even carrying this product - it has a tiny sound - the best that I can describe it is a built-in laptop speaker sound. The conversion feature seems like a good idea, only the converted sound is also tiny weeny! I played through my home theater, which usually listen on level 30-40 and is loud. I had to crank it up to 70 to hear something and it was not good sound either..
The unit is build of cheap plastic, the cartridge and needle look like made of plastic also.
... but the worst: Best Buy considers this item a "special order", which means that I could not return it at the store where I picked it up. I called their customer service, was told that a return shipping label was going to be emailed within a couple of hours ... and I still waiting. Bad service.
I ended up buying an Ion turntable, which I really like but has to be hooked to an amplifier and speakers at an additional cost.

Great idea for vinyl record collectors

Our daughter loved the turntable. We have several old LPs, played a few for her and the turntable was a wonderful Christmas gift for her. The records sound wonderful.

Record Player doesn't work, impossible to return
Posted by: Eaglet81 from: Houston TX on
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. After he hooked it up, the record player produces no sound (although the radio works, so we know that it's hooked up correctly). After hours of trying to fix it, we decided to return it to the store. Even though I ordered it from bestbuy.com and even picked it up at the Best Buy store, I cannot return it to the store. We are waiting on an elusive email from a third party company that will theoretically allow us to return it. Days later and multiple calls and there has been no email. This is essentially a large $80 radio or sculpture at this point. Don't waste your money on this product.

Good as expected

Needed a record player to play some old albums. This unit was attractively priced and works as intended, It was a bonus to have AM/FM tuner and the remote control. Looks good and the sound quality is good. Nice unit especially for the discount price that I bought it at. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a base unit that works well and does not want to spend much money.

Easy to use, durable, sounds great. I do not have external speakers hooked up to it and it still sounds good.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter who is getting into vinyl. Despite several negative reviews, there were more positive ones so I gave it a shot. It would not play 33rpm LP's at the proper speed. All played fast. Unfortunately, there's no pitch control to make an adjustment. Thinking it was just an aberration, I returned it and tried again. Same problem. The one positive was that on both occasions, the Best Buy staff was extremely accomodating when I did the returns. BTW...don't be misled by the one star rating. I would have given it zero stars if I could have.

not automatic, but 3 speed
Posted by: Kwatts from: on
This indeed plays records and I purchased this model because it has 3 speeds. However, when the record is finished the needle needs to be manually lifted. If you select auto stop (which stops the spinning when the record is over) it stops before the record is done. It has the capability to copy records to a disk but I have not used that feature.
