Disappointed Posted by: from: San Antonio, TX on With a tripod that could hang from things or be stable on uneven surfaces, I was hoping to get some interesting shots! But unfortunately, it seems unless your camera's tripod hole is centered (or close to it) on the bottom of your camera, the tripod won't stay standing. I have a very small Sony camera (listed as a recommended product below); its weight is listed as 7.1 oz. on its Best Buy page. The packaging for this tripod says it can hold cameras weighing up to 11.5 oz. My camera is well within the weight range, but because the tripod hole in on the left side rather than centered, the tripod wouldn't stay standing, not even on my desk. It's not worth risking my camera, so it's going back to the store.

Hiking Buddy! Posted by: from: on I needed something last minute and found this little guy! It was perfect to mount my light weight camera and wrap the 360 articulating arms around my backpack strap. The locking mount easily unlock for quick removal of my camera as I transversed through Portage Glacier Pass. And the little movable arms were adaptable to any uneven surface. I give 4 out of 5 only because the individual joints would pop apart if I turn to sharply, but could easily be popped back in place..Other than that, it was the perfect hiking buddy! :)

Nice item for the price Posted by: from: on The item is not expensive but works great. It's very easy to set up. I love the way I can adjust or twist it so easy. I will recommend this product for sure.

One of my favorite camera accessories! Posted by: from: USA on I love this tripod! I have numerous cameras of various sizes, but as the man said, the best camera is the one you have with you. This tripod is great to use with my little point-and-shoot, which I often have with me. And it is small enough to fit in my pocket or backpack, so it gets used more often than I initially expected. Most of my pictures (about 4,000-6,000/year) are shot outdoors, many while hiking, and that's where this Gorillapod tripod truly comes in handy. I can wrap its bendable legs around a tree branch, a railing, and uneven surface, or just have it stand up on a ledge or rock; it keeps the camera secure. I probably use it on only 1 to 2 percent of the shots I take but for those certain shots it's indispensable. I think I own three of these now. They're small enough where I sometimes misplace them, so I get another one and then the others turn up. That's because I take it with me a lot, and put it in a backpack, or hiking bag, or somewhere in the trunk, or coat/pants pocket - whatever I need at the time. Highly recommended, go get one!

Great for odd ball mounting Posted by: from: on This is very tight and can assume pretty much any position I wanted my camera to be place, to get those off the wall shots. Each joint is adjustable and allows you to place your camera in any position you like. I have used this a lot and so far the joints are still very firm and have not loosened up, they have remained tight. I have wrapped it around tree limbs, fencing, etc. It takes some time to get your camera level, but after a lot of use, you realize its limitations and its pretty quick now. I like it better than a regular tripod due to the many positions I can put it in. I will be buying another.

Good, but this one is only for very light cameras. Posted by: from: on I have two GorillaPods, this one and an SLR model. My advice is to go one size larger than you think you need. Yes, it will be a little heavier, but you will have a lot more flexibility in mounting positions. Think of this one as being mostly for upright or upside down use of a pocket camera. I have a very light camcorder and wasn't able to use this to mount it on a vertical pole, which I was able to do with the SLR model.

Great product! Posted by: from: Dallas, TX on I use the gorillapod for my flipcam. It's handy to set up anywhere and holds sturdy even in wind gusts. I would buy another one for my camera or other video accessories in a heartbeat. It's not the easiest thing to store, but it's flexible enough that you can fit it in most bags. Overall, I would highly recommend the product to anyone. If they took the time to make it an excellent product, by offering different materials or a better storage option, then I would give it 5 stars.

Great little tripod Posted by: from: on A great tripod to carry around, since it is so light and small, yet still very useful. it isn't for heavy cameras (like the bigger point and shoots) but works great for small, light cameras.

Camera and camcorder fit Posted by: from: on It's not the one that we should be using, the kids think it is a strange spider toy and end up with camera or camcorder completely forgotten about and the recorded aftermath is not entirely possible to sit through without motion sickness setting in, but given the few time it was out of sight and recording the day worked well... Not ideally set for young people under ages 5.

Great tripod Posted by: from: on I love this tripod for many uses, my only complaint would be is that the bottom part where you twist it in the camera can become a little lose at times. But very happy with it so far ! I would love to purchase the bigger one soon !
