I've been reading the reviews over the years and have come to the conclusion that there are people who can't get over replacement band members, what was, what could have been and "I just can't listen to them anymore". What all the haters have to remember is: Danny Joe Brown hand picked Phil McCormick as his replacement, passing the torch, because he knew he could fill his shoes and work the crowd they way a modern day Molly Hathcet band should. What has Gator Country done lately? I have seen Molly Hatchet twice in the past two years and can vouch that this band does well live as in the studio. Phil is a character and the band is tight. I was even more surprised that my wife liked the show, that should say something, for not knowing what she was going into. With that out of the way, I love this record, the production is great, the guitars are sonic, the songs rock. This album has all the feel and soul of a typical rowdy southern rock album. Women, bars and cars. Right out of the box the first five songs are incredible, then a couple slower ballads, after that is the crushing song called "Vengeance". The last song "Justice" includes a classic guitar solo at the end. This record does not dip into country music status, just straight southern rock and is a nice variety when compared to the previous record. I thought the songs all sounded the same on their last record and this was a departure from that. That might have been partially the drummer not changing up the chops from time to time and being creative. I always have a cd going when I'm outside having a beer and I know a record is good when someone is over and they ask "who is this you're listening to?". With all the original southern rockers passing away, God Bless them, who's to say that these bands would not have migrated this way, embrassing the technology and playing harder, more produced southern rock albums with occasional ballads. Embrace some "Vengeance"! Hell yeah!

The veteran outfit does not disappoint. I have every CD they ever put out, and this is their best effort in years.
