I bought this on the .com site and when it arrived, my first reaction was disappointment since it was kind of small. I charged it up and paired to my phone, then I was like totally stoked.
When I paired it at first, I thought it was defective or something, so I read the manual and saw that you can connect multiple devices to it and that the first 30 seconds it is in repair mode only, so beware of this. Once it is paired though, it reconnected in a snap.
This little speaker is way loud and the sound quality is awesome. I was expecting a thin sound, but the sound had serious range. I used it for about 6 hours straight and then went to it this morning and used it for another 3 hours and the battery was still going strong.
Compared to other speakers I have used and even owned, this is the best one I have found so far.

I purchased the Rocksteady XS 1.5 speaker from Bestbuy about two months ago and was so impressed with it that I have given it my highest recommendation and decided to write a review.
Prior to purchasing this speaker I auditioned every wireless bluetooth speaker that I could find on display. In the price range there is no equal to this speaker. The sound is clearer and more precise than many higher prices speakers, such as the Bose and Jawbones. If you want to spend twice the money, the Beats Pill provides more bass, but I am not sure it is more accurate sound.
The speaker can produce plenty of volume with little distortion.
Bass performance is the one area where some people may not be satisfied with this speaker. If you like exagerated bass you probably should not be looking at this unit as the bass is more natural.
Relative to connectivity, my unit connects to my iphone, ipad and ipod easily and with good range (at least 20 feet). As stated by other reviewers, read the instructions for initial paring to avoid being distressed by what seems like a delay. After initial paring the speaker pares very rapidly.
Relative to battery life, on my unit the battery life is excellent. At moderate volume levels it plays for at least 10 hours as advertised, and I have had no problems with the battery holding change for 10 days or more provided the unit is turned off.
I have not used the phone feature much, but it works as specified.
Overall this is a great battery operated bluetooth speaker.

I purchased the Rocksteady XS through one of BestBuy's one day online specials for $59.99. I read other reviews online comparing the sound quality to Bose and JBL. The reviews are dead on! This is an excellent portable bluetooth speaker. Easy to use.I love the features. Built in mic, able to control my music through the Rocksteady XS.

Look promising, but fell short

This unit had some decent reviews and was on sale, so i gave it a go.
Initial set up was easy. Sound quality was OK for the size of the unit, but i literally used it maybe 5 times before it died.
Thankfully BB let me return for store credit.
If you are looking for something just to get you by with portable sound this might work for you, but otherwise I'd save my $.
I guess i have better sound quality tastes, this unit wasn't loud enough and had little bass. Don't be too tempted by the price...

Go for it!

I bought this with a lot of anticipation. It was very inexpensive ($49) so was not expecting much. My unit's volume is better than good. Wow it will fill a very large room. It does not have a lot of bass but I bought it knowing this. I have a full surrond sound system for thumping bass. I would reccomend this to anyone who wants quick sound around the house, garage or outside. I love it!

im pretty happy with this product.. alot of small bluetooth speakers sound muffled and distorted.. this speaker with the right settings on your phone/mp3 eq settings can sound great. its loud and clean but not much bass. there is a little bass that add to a great sounding speaker..no problem connecting to gs3 phone..but it took awhile to connect to my ipad..once connected time to rock out.. i use at work, (construction) and it gets loud enough for a good size room. for its size it produces louder clear sound then expected.. but when turn all the way it can get distorted but just adjust you eq setting on your mp3 and you'll be set..

LOUD! Some distortion at full volume. Bass is fine

Picked this up when it was 49.99 as one of Best Buy's Deals of the day.
I've been looking for a good BT speaker and I'm a bit of a speaker/headphone -phile. The sound quality is definitely on the high side of speakers of this size and caliber. Especially for the price. It gets much louder than the Jambox but it feels "bigger" because it is more like a rectangle log than a block like those speakers. It's certainly not BIG but it was actually bigger than I expected after reading reviews saying it was small... Bass is neutral and even as a speaker "should" be but these days people are all about vibrating everything around them when they listen to music. This won't do that. But turned all the way up the bass was able to shake the speaker enough to move it around on the table I had it on. It moved a good 2 inches over a 15 minute span of music.
At the price I got it at it is more than a steal and even for $100 it is well worth it over anything else in the price range. It is solidly built and does not feel cheap at all despite being a bit boring looking. It also is the only portable BT speaker I know of (there might be more of them) that has an easy to find and changeable battery.
If you are buying a speaker for looks this one isn't it. But for pure sound at a good price. I'd say give it a go!

Great sound. Not so great otherwise.

The sound is great and powerful. The problem I'm having is that the battery dies quickly after a full charge and it's not used for a day or two. It seems that when the power switch is off, the unit is not really off. I emailed for support, was told that other units were having a problem, but didn't hear back about a solution. I shouldn't have to make sure the unit is fully charged right before I need to use it. When fully charged though, I do get a decent amount of play time from the speaker. I'd certainly give it 5 stars if the problem was resolved.
