Great product only 1 issue

I've never personally owned my own kitchenaid before by my mom has one that I have used many times and when this mixer went on sale I couldn't pass it up.
I've read many reviews and basically all of them are great except for a handful. There was one that I read where they said they had followed the directions and when they went to mix some ingredients the mixture turned black. I wanted to avoid that problem so I washed the bowel and attachments in the dishwasher and thought that any coatings that were on any of it would surely come off when washed. I was wrong though when I grabbed the bowel i realized there was some black on my hand from where I grabbed it. I then hand washed each attachments untill no black stuff was coming off. Didn't run into any problems after that. I love my mixer.

I got this for my wife because our mixer broke. The quality of this product is instantly evident in the weight and feel of this mixer. She has used two of the three attachments so far and both have work flawlessly. My only complaint (more of a preference) is that it does not tilt back like the artisan for releasing the attachments. All in all a great product, and I can't wait to get the spiral/peeling attachments later.

Good, heavy-duty mixer

My wife and I had talked about getting a nice mixer for years. A couple of days after mixing up a batch of cookie dough and wearing our arms out, I saw this on sale and decided to get it. We've now mixed up a couple batches of bread dough and have not been disappointed. It works great. Plenty of power for mixing the toughest dough.
When I purchased it, I didn't even realize it has the power port for adding attachments like a grinder, etc. We should have gotten this mixer years ago.
Only one downside, and that is the initial cleaning of the mixing bowl. I'd recommend scrubbing it really well with a soapy brush before the first use. Even after I thought I had it completely clean, there was still a bit of something like dark grease that the brush picked up out of the bottom of the bowl. I couldn't really see it on the bowl surface by looking at it, but the brush showed it on the bristles. After that, no problems with cleaning or anything else.

A Home Baker's Dream

Having a KitchenAid mixer is a must for anyone who bakes at least a few times a month. Save your arms and don't skimp on mixers that'll give out on you within a few months. KitchenAid's are the workhorses of bakers' kitchens. Get one and never pay for another mixer again- ever!!!
You can also get all the attachments to grind meat, make sausages, ice cream, etc. it's the best bang for your buck.

This machine is a workhorse! I initially considered the model with a lift head but was swayed after reading the reviews for the bowl lift models stating that they were more powerful. I am glad I made this decision as the machine kneads bread dough without any issues.

Unbeatable for the price

Bought this to replace my Cuisinart stand mixer which stripped its gears and is IMPOSSIBLE to find replacement parts in the US. For the price (Best Buy one day sale of $225) - this cannot be beat. At least I know I can get parts for it... Received it in two or three business days.
5 qt capacity is good. Power - for what it's worth - is excellent. Have made bread dough, cookie dough, and assorted other items without any problems. Because it is a Professional bowl lift type, it is much taller than a tilt head unit. I have trim hanging from the front of my cabinets, so this clears the bottom front of the cabinet by 1/16" inch (I store it in a deep corner and slide it forward to use). As for using the lift-type bowl - it's no big deal - mount the side supports first then press down the back to lock it in. Lift it by its handle to remove and it comes out.
Looks fantastic, too. I like the coated attachments (dough hook and mixing attachment), if for nothing else than its machine wash-ability and visual aesthetics.

So fast. Those two words should sell this item. I don"t want to hold a hand mixer any more. I watch as the metal paddles always fall out of my mixer, the taste of flour on my face, how my bowl twerks...done with it. Let a little piece of Food Network enter my kitchen and have the Kitchen Aid mixer be my star. Its fast. So fast that you think, why didn't I do this sooner? All those cookies for school at 9 pm when your kid tells you he needs them for the morning...we have all had something like that. Searching in the cabinets for both mixer and corresponding metal tools. This mixer sits out on the cabinet-and ingredients are added and in a few short minutes, you are soft paddling it out into your pan. You have to watch carefully, because you could overmix in a few short minutes. MINUTES!!! I love it! Catch the sales, the four hour flash flood, whatever...get one. Smiling will be contagious, trust me.

Got this for my wife for Mothers day and she loves it. Has used it a couple times now and says it works so great and makes everything so easy. Easy clean up if you do it after you are done using it. I saw one person complain about it but they let it sit over night and then everything had turned hard.

I purchased this mixer as part of the Black Friday $199 deal. I couldn't believe the price. I already have the same mixer, purchased years ago, and thought I would get another for my son. I expected the quality to be the same. When I turned the mixer on, it made serious noises and not as a result of the beater hitting the side, etc. The motor was not smooth. Wow, what a shame! Great price, but you need some earplugs to run this one. If you have an older model, hang on to it.
