Great tool for a new outdoor cooking experience

I started on YouTube watching videos of people cooking on discada or discos or plow discs. I was intrigued. So I started looking for a source for a disc. At first I considered the traditional methods of making one but then knew I was still going to need a burner. I then looked for a kit. This name brand kept popping up on different sites. I reviewed the manufacturer's site as well and thought I would try it.
Shipping was very fast. Upon receiving the unit I saw that it was well packaged. Assembly was easy with the wing nuts. The legs and ring don't quite line up but it goes together easy enough and the misalignment doesn't prevent assembly or use. I looked for seasoning procedures on line or in the manual but didn't see any so I used another manufacturer's method with oil and paper towels. It takes a little bit to do, but I haven't had any issues with it once seasoned properly. The burner provides a nice adjustable heat that cooks evenly like you expect from a wok. The low end of the regulator is somewhat touchy as I found myself without heat several times trying to bring the heat down low. Once I realized that I just paid attention to the gas better as I lowered the temp.
We have enjoyed it thoroughly. Search discada recipes online for ideas of what you can make. Our favorite is a dirty taco with bacon, hot sausage, chorizo, sirloin, red, yellow and orange bell peppers, jalapeños, onions, cilantro and lime. Cook it up and serve with soft tortillas. We used it while camping as well and did a breakfast mash up with bacon, sausage links, Hashbrowns and eggs. The large 24" disk works great especially if you are cooking for a larger group of 8-12. It is a breeze to clean also. Similar to cast iron, just wipe it out good, hot water to scrub if needed, dry, then while the disk is warm coat both sides with a thin layer of cooking oil. I typically use canola oil.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor cooking experience for many years now and the addition of the discada has really stepped up the game. This unit has performed great and is much cheaper than a lot of other units out there. I love the size which was a big draw for me. Try it and enjoy the fruits of your labor!
