Learning Mountain Dulcimer
Texan David Schnaufer has played a key role in bringing the mountain dulcimer back to country music. He has also performed with the Judds, Kathy Mattea, and Michael Johnson. In this instructional video, Schnaufer concentrates on first showing students how to handle different fingerings, strumming, and picking. Time is also spent explaining how the most basic scales govern many tunes. Schnaufer plays several songs a bit slower than others as he teaches viewers how to use guitar-style picking on the dulcimer. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to play arrangements of both the "Tennessee Waltz" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." ~ Elizabeth Smith, Rovi
