Worked for 8 months, then died.

We replaced a Samsung with this giant and up until a month ago, it worked flawlessly. We noticed the fresh food was a little warmer than usual, milk, yogurt etc. After a few days of that, we tried the over-the-phone diagnostics with LG customer service. They basically said it was a little warmer than it should be but not unusual (+40 F is not usual for dairy storage, it's dangerous). They sent out their contract repair service who decided it needed a new fan/duct assembly, which he orders and installed a week later. It did nothing for the problem. By then, the fridge was averaging 45-50 F and the freezer was +8 (they were set at 33 and -3, respectively).
Repair guy comes back a few days later. Calls LG tech support and I can overhear their guy telling the local repair guy that 40 isn't that bad for the fresh food section. (mind you, I'm enraged at this point. I didn't spend over $2k for a busted fridge that struggles to get to 40, and their company's tech guy that says it's reasonable). The local repair guy tells the LG tech guy that the ice maker isn't making any ice and the customer doesn't use much ice. He responds with "I don't care about the customer's diet, let's talk about this fridge." How unprofessional are you, when you aren't even listening to what the local technician is telling you? The ice maker, and my lack of usage of it, is relevant because it indicates the ice box temp is above what it needs to be for the ice maker to turn on. Relevant to troubleshooting, if LG was in fact interested in fixing their poor craftsmanship.
So the local technician tests impedance for a thermostat sensor from behind the fridge. Determines there's a bad defrost thermostat and orders one of those. Comes a few days later and installs it. It does nothing. It should be noted that after pulling the old thermostat to install the new one, he tested it and it appears within specs. So, he wasted a few days ordering a part he could have tested thoroughly on the previous visit. Nevertheless, he installs the new one and leaves. The fridge still doesn't cool.
So I call the local repair guy back the next day, a Friday, and the earliest they can return is the following Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, all my food in the fresh food section has gone bad. The food in the freezer is starting to. On that Saturday, the freezer decided it's not happy at +8 and wants to warm up to +25 where it sits today. Ice is melting. Meat is thawing.
Then, LG customer service calls me unsolicited from somewhere in Alabama. The kid on the phone sounds like he or she just woke from a nap. They actually yawned into the phone and said the case would be referred to LG engineering.
The point of all this is to warn you. Buyer beware! Not only do you risk finding yourself with an expensive lemon, you will find yourself with the worst customer service LG can muster.
I'm currently working with Best Buy to get a return authorization.

I found out after we bought it that its the largest one best buy carriers. Which is perfect with 4 active boys. Love all the extra drawers and the third draw in the freezer. I took me a month to review the right one and I'm very happy with this one.

defective, bad customer service

Worst purchase I ever made. I purchased this fridge in 2014 from Best Buy. It has had catastrophic failure 3 times in just it's first year.
The first time the ice maker went out and flooded my new kitchen floor. The next time it was the temperature control module, the third time it was the compressor.
What's worse is the repairman told me my fridge was built in 2012 but somehow Best buy sold it as a new product 2year later. Unbelievable!
How is this not a lemon. I have repeatedly requested that they exchange it for a new good fridge .They refuse! I wasted $2500. Worst buy of my life.

Huge and well built

We love our new LG fridge. It's huge inside. Our 26 cubic feet fridge that died before it was packed and this one is less than half full after moving everything over to it. It has tons of freezer space and double the refrigerator space of the old one. It makes plenty of ice and the water filter puts out lots of water fast.

We went from a 22 cubic foot GE Profile fridge that couldn't store hardly anything to this incredibly huge fridge. No complaints - I love the shelves that collapse so you can put tall items in too!
