Not practical

Posted by: Marm from on 03/13/2016I have now had this washer for a year now and completely hate it. I did over two months of research before I purchased this washer and I should of went with my gut feeling. We have a set of front loaders in our other house which we have used for 12 years so when we moved to this second house I had to buy another washer and decided on this one. First off, you have to make sure all your clothes are perfectly stacked in the washer before turning it on. Where with my front loaders I can just stuff and go. And you will not know if they are not stacked perfectly until the last spin and then you get an error message and sometimes it restarts the whole washing process. Plus you must I mean must only wash like material, for example my daughters bedding sheets, fleece blanket, comforter. Seems easy right NO! The fleece blanket will throw the whole washer off balance. So I have to wash all our fleece blankets just in order to wash just my daughters. I completely regret purchasing these. Top loaders are not user friendly what so ever. I hope I can save at least one person from the nightmare especially a mother cause we don't have time for problems with our washer.

Large capacity

Posted by: Bill from on 03/08/2016My wife chose this for its large capacity. The tub on this thing is deep. I am 6'0" tall. and reaching the bottom of the tub can be difficult. Shorter people may need a step stool or opt for the smaller capacity version with the shallower tub. This was a new model, so we actually had to wait about two months for it to come in. Delivery and set up service was excellent.

This is the worst washing machine I have ever owne

Posted by: Dave from on 02/17/2016Have had this machine now for over a year it replaced a samsung front load thats was a great washer except it put holes in my wifes delicate clothes, this washer doenst clean anything if it goes in dirty it comes out that way and now you cant wash anything like over 5 towels or 5 bluejeans that it doenst stop on uneven load had had service out 2x and still does it, I will never own another lg machine they are just high priced junk. AND I AM AN ELITE PLUS MEMBER JUST DONT HAVE TIME TO LOOK UP MY ACCOUNT NUMBER

Love this washer

The machine tub is huge I'm able to wash my queen size bedding with no issue. Love the different wash cycles. Would certainly recommend this washer!!!!! Plus it great looking

Posted by: cici189 from on 01/16/2016My first washer developed a squeak after a month. I returned it for a replacement. So far no problems. It has a big tub, which I like. When washing heavy items it will stop if off balance. I have found that the new washers of today do this more than older machines used to. It has a lot of electronics, hopefully the circuit boards don't fail. This is the most expensive washer, but LG is supposed to be good.

Two Weeks In

Terrible machine and customer service

Posted by: sneering from on 11/11/2015I purchased the WT1701CW Top Load Washer from an authorized dealer in December 2014, and it was installed Jan 2015 with the completion of my new house. I moved in my new house in March and the washer has begun to have problem every since. The problems are: 1. The rinse in normal cycle is literally 45 seconds long with very little water sprayed on clothes; 2. the washer will stop randomly during the cycle for no reason; 3. The most critical problem is that the washer leaves detergent marks on all clothes, regardless of what detergent I used, how much detergent I used, or what cycle I chose. Once the detergent marks are left on clothes, they are nearly impossible to remove unless extensively hand washed. The detergent residues left on the clothes have caused allergy to my family member, especially to my pregnant wife. This is a tremendous health hazard, so we have no choice but hand wash our clothes even since. Given these aforementioned problems, I have contacted LG's authorized service multiple times, and they have sent service person 7 times to come in trying to repair this machine. Firstly, they replaced the top control board. Nothing was improved. Then, they came in to replace the bottom control board, however, the service person found out that the part came in was incorrect. Then, he went back and request new part to be shipped. Three weeks later, two new boards came in and they were exactly identical as the incorrect one that was sent three week ago. When the service person opened the circuit board case to take a picture of the original bottom control board, he found out that the board in the machine was incorrect as well! There was a multipin socket that has nothing connect to it. Therefore, it turns out that the machine came out of the factory with an incorrect bottom control board in the first place, and the LG service department has no idea how to repair it (given the fact that they sent three incorrect bottom control board). This makes me believe that the LG WT1701CW model I have has essential design problems that LG is incapable of addressing. Additional complaints about the customer service: the customer service of LG is such a pain that dealing with them is time consuming and inefficient. Every time I called, the customer service representative was trying to educate me how to operate the washer correctly, use the right detergent in right amount, even though I have told him/her multiple times that I have literally tried everything possible. Three months have passed since the first time LG started to repair the washer, and I still don't know when this is going to end. I bought what supposed to be high end washer, but end up having to hand wash all my clothes for months. So far, LG has sent technicians from three different tech service store, and they are trying to send a fourth. The LG tech support consistently evaluate the machine to be functioning as supposed to, while the machine constantly leaves detergent marks on the clothes. The LG executive customer service basically told me that they will continue to send tech service but will not replace the unit unless THEIR tech support determine this machine is not repairable.
