For the record, I've enjoyed past Lifeproof cases for my previous iPhone 5. Whenever the case developed an issue, Lifeproof replaced it free of charge.
I've been eagerly awaiting the iPhone 6 plus case and purchased it two weeks ago. However, three days ago, I noticed the charging dock door/flap looked odd upon closing it. I opened it and a plastic prong that functioned as an inner closing clasp had broken off. The case became useless since now it was not longer water resistant and the flap just hung open.
I would've exhanged it for another but my research showed that this is a common issue for this case. What is the point of an exchange if I'm going to be back two weeks later or sooner returning it again.
I'm glad I caught this issue before damage happened to my phone. I'll wait for them to redesign the case so that it is more secure. It's a real shame since Lifeproof normally has solid cases. This one felt rushed despite coming out six months after the phone's release.

LifeProof Admits Design Flaw
Posted by: TravelingPawsLLC from: Tampa, FL on
I bought a this case directly from LifeProof. The case failed miserably and life proof representative told me that there was a known flaw with the design. They were getting feedback from customers that the cases were failing and were not selling this type anymore. Also that the improvements to the case were better for the next release of the iPhone 6 Plus case. Here is the thing, for a warranty replacement they did not have any cases to replace it with and the new cases were 5 weeks away from shipping. Im out another insurance claim and have spent over $600 over this issue out of pocket with life proof offering a refund. Stay away from this case for now.

Don't waste your money on this case!!!

I bought this case as soon as my local store got them in stock. I've used a lifeproof nuud on my 5S for a year and loved everything about it unfortunately I can't say the same for the 6 plus version. This case has a major design flaw that being the two small black clips that keep the charge port closed. These clips are very week and broke on me after only 2 days of use! now my charge port wouldn't stay closed thus ruining the waterproof ability of the nuud. I already returned the case do yourself a favor and put your 100 bucks towards a better protective case for your 6 plus.

Please reconsider buying this

I have been waiting for a lifeproof case to come out since the iPhone 6 plus was released. For some reason it took six months for them to release one version of it. Because the safety of my phone is important I had an Otter box Defender up until last night. I saw a lifeproof at my local best buy finally, (Im told there are still supply shortages) so I grabbed it. After having it for only a day I am returning it.
my problems with the case
- You cannot effectively use Zagg screen protectors. This includes the 'glass' screen protectors. It just doesn't fit the case. Water proof claims will be ineffective.
- The home button still has the same bad membrane for finger print ID. Although this works, In the past my phones membrane devolops holes in it from pressing down on the home button with your fingertip, which you have to do because...
- The hole for the home button is too small. It feels awkward, and requires very small fingers to be used without digging your fingertip into the membrane. if you have any thumbnail at all it could damage the delicate membrane.
- The case sits too far onto the screen. It is very difficult to swipe up to get the control system to pop up. It is possible, but I have found myself accidentally opening apps in my dock because the case just doesn't allow access to the very bottom of the screen.
-The charge port. Going into this I knew that i wouldn't be able to use non apple chargers because lifeproof has never made the port large enough to fit anything besides apple chargers. For some reason with this case, I literally have to force the apple charger into the case, and pull very hard to remove it. When removing the charging cable, I also noticed my apple charging cord began to separate from the head of the charging cable because of the force required.
- Lastly the cover for the charging port is very cheap. Others say it snaps off and i am far from surprised. it just feels like a cheap piece of plastic from a mechanical pencil.
I can only hope they release a fre case and these issues are not present, but they have no plans to do so currently, so I will go back to my otter box.

I bought this case as soon as it came out. I was one of those suckers who put themselves on the waiting list and paid top dollar. From the first moment with this case on my 6+ i was disappointed. The tolerances were off so that it would not fit snugly on my phone. If the charging port was opened the case would pop apart. When trying to talk on the phone I could not hear the person on the other line and they could not hear me rendering the phone "useless". I called lifeproof customer service only to find out "these first cases were not really ready for the market and had flaws that had been corrected". So they were 5 months late to market and still had major issues. The rep told me there had been two new iterations since my case was manufactured. I bought a $30 Thule case and stay out of the rain...

For making us wait 6 months from the launch of the iPhone 6 Plus, I was expecting a little more improvement from LifeProof's cases. However, there are still flaws with this case that make it irritating when using. The Control Panel feature barely works when using the swiping up gesture due to the edge of the case being flush with the border of the screen. I have found the only success comes when placing fingertip just right and carefully swiping up. This makes a once simple task tedious and significantly more time consuming. When talking on the phone, there is still feedback and the person on the other end can hear themselves talking. When I am talking my voice sounds muffled on the other end unless the charging port plug is opened, effectively compromising the waterproof function. I understand this is largely due to the phone being completely enclosed. However, these issues make talking on the phone a complicated and annoying task and have been apparent since the iPhone 4/4S LifeProof cases. The charing port is even smaller on this case compared to the iPhone 5S nüüd series. LifeProof still does not offer a lighting dock adapter like they do for the 30-pin connection. As a result, third party cables will definitely not be compatible with this case at this moment. The only marginal improvements appear to be aesthetics. The plastic used on the back of the case is harder than previous generations, which should add a little more protection and durability. Definitely not worth the wait or $100.
