Worked Great For A While Posted by: from: Farmington, MN on Worked great out of the box. Would occasionally drop connection that would be fixed by unplugging and plugging back in. Drops became more and more frequent. Eventually would only connect for 10 seconds before dropping again. Probably only a month or two of use with no problems. It quickly became a headache especially when printing to a wireless printer. Would not recommend this product. Just purchased a replacement of a different brand.

Excellent product Posted by: from: Inland Empire, CA on I greatly enjoy this product, it does exactly what I needed it to do. After upgrading my wireless router from 802.11-G to Dual band 802.11-N, I needed to upgrade my wireless receiver on my computer to take advantage of the improved bandwidth. I tested my internet connection with my old 802.11-G PCI (inside the computer) wireless adapter before removing it, then again after installing this new Dual-Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter, and it increased dramatically, nearly 50%. I am downloading at around 25Mbps via wireless, which is nearly as fast as my maximum internet connection speeds when connected with Ethernet (wired). The use of the 5GHz channel with this Dual-Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter has greatly improved the quality of HD video received over WiFi (no more jittering, just a smooth sharp image). The only issue I can report is the reception is poor if I plugged the receiver to a USB port on the back of the tower located down in the desk. I had a USB "extension cord" that I placed on the top of the desk, plugged in the adapter there instead, and now I'm getting 95% signal through 4 walls. Definitely would recommend, especially while it was on sale!

Do not buy if you use Windows 8 Posted by: from: Las Vegas, NV on I purchased this anticipating it to have issues, but was hopeful since other windows 8 users had had success with it. The installation was a BREEZE and the connection (when it had one) was fast. However, not only did I have to remove and reinsert the adapter every time I left my computer for a few moments to get the connection back, it dropped repeatedly while I was actively using my computer. I returned it at Best Buy and replaced it with the Belkin N600 (higher MSRP but it was on sale for less than this one) and not only was installation just as easy, I have a full 5 bars and no dropped connection since it was installed. This unit toggled between 3 and 4 bars when it was working. I am very happy to have made the switch away from this one. Also keep in mind this doesn't have any driver updates specifically for Windows 8 on the Linksys site, while the Belkin N600 does!

Great USB Adapter Posted by: from: Central NY on Had this Cisco/ Linksys AE2500 USB - N Adapter since 2008 nearly 5 years. Works like a champion. The reason Data Rate is lower than a built in wireless card is because of USB limitations of the computer itself. Don't blame the adapter. It has been known some of the products have Signal Issues. If You encounter poor signal strength when you're less than 40 feet away then Return Product and get another from a different Best Buy Store or get one from an Online Vendor. Different batch and delivery to ensure you don't get another semi-dysfunctional unit. Don't buy from same place as you may get another freaky one. Can't go wrong as I need another AE2500 for my newest self built desktop. I wonder when " N" will be replaced hopefully not for a couple more years.

Waste of money Posted by: from: Bartlett IL on This was represented as being capable of being a suitable alternative to running a cable to my second floor. This had zero reception on 5 GHz from the router in my basement. The 2.4 GHz transfer speeds were far less than either of my laptops that I used right next to the PC I had this hooked up to. Essentially useless.

Great for gaming Posted by: from: Colorado Springs, CO on This is a pretty great little investment. My modem and router are both upstairs connected to another family members computer and my desktop is a floor lower so I purchased this so I could use the Internet via my computer, and for the added security. Works well and does everything I need it to do.

Good range Posted by: from: Sagamore Hills, OH on Bought this to replace a wifi adapter card in a desktop PC, that could not consistently pick up the signal in the apartment. It was a good price, easy to set up,and has been outperforming the old adapter for about a month now. Seems to have better range and does not drop the signal.

Works good but... Posted by: from: on I have two different wireless usb adapters and this one is good, but occasionally my son has issues with connection, not sure if it's the internet or the adapter, but the other adapter is also lynksys but seems to work a little better. I believe it is the next model up from this one.
