Had to Fix Unit from Cutting out every 15 Minutes
Posted by: CDonKnows from: on
I have no problems with sound ,comfort ,operating or overall design. However, the unit cuts out every 15 minutes. I thought it was WIFI Interference but no matter where I put the router it happened. I was so frustrated that I was going to return it. Then I found an easy fix.
Go To folders
Logitech Gaming Software
Find the line <battery lowBattInformInterval="900" pollInterval="120" lowBattTime="3600" turnOffInterval="900"/>
Set the turnOffInterval="0"/>
Save it & Bingo fixed.
Note you do have to turn the headset off to change this.
Headsets are great otherwise. There are YouTubes on this.

These headphones have it
Posted by: KingMokey from: Maine on
These headphones have... everything. Literally anything you could want a headset to have, these things have it.
2: 10hr battery life
3: 2 hour charge (on the go)
4: Excellent sound range
5: 7.1 definitely feels like surround sound
6: No noticeable lagg
There are only THREE general problems (albeit very slight problems) that I have with this headset. I also had one application specific problem, but there was a fix.
Problem 1: This headset's bass cracks if you bring it up to really high levels, everything else is fine. (this only bothers me because I engineer audio in my spare time, and I've noticed that the bass isn't quite as good as all the other audio aspects, which are near perfect)
Problem 2: If plugged in while turning on you computer, you will need to hold the power button for the headset three times before they turn on and are usable. This could be fixed with a driver update, but as of now has not been.
Problem 3: One cannot (in Windows 7) output audio to both the headset and surround sound. I would have definitely preferred this simply because it would make switching between them much easier (simply turning off my surround sound). As of this review you are required to manually change the default audio device in order to switch between them.
Specific problem (fixed): This headset initially DID NOT work with Ventrillo for me, it was only after I updated both Ventrillo and the G930 drivers before I could hear anyone in Vent. Teamspeak worked just fine from the beginning.
Apart from these few problems, I really have no reason to not give this headset a '5' star rating, and so I will. I don't regret my purchas whatsoever, and I am comparing these things against other (wired) headsets I've owned in the past. I've moved on from wired headsets simply because the people I live with have a knack for destroying wires, and so wireless eliminates that problem.

Great headset overall, probably the best!
Posted by: JGLang from: Virginia Beach, VA on
I was amazed at how well they put together the USB charging "dock" / hub for the system. The actually dock that holds the wireless USB adapter doubles as housing for the long cables to connect the dock to the computer, and the dock to the headset for charging. The cables are wrapped tightly within the base as to avoid clutter.
Of course, everyone wants to know about the sound quality. I would have to say while listening to music and playing games, the 7.1 sound quality is amazing! I use TeamSpeak 3 and for some reason, unless I have the surround sound feature turned on, it divides up the sounds between left and right, rather than playing all as if in a forward center position. The 3 buttons that you can customize only allow certain programs to be used, of which TeamSpeak 3 is not one of them. If you use Ventrillo, rest assured it is preconfigured!
Comfort is amazing, the headband's memory foam really allows for a weightless feel along the top of the head where there is normally a pressure point that would develop with extended use. The cups around the headphones themselves are initially uncomfortable as they seem to cut off circulation (I'm not kidding as I felt light headed) but after a second or two the foam reset itself so all was good after all. In fact, the ability for these to completely isolate you is impressive.
The quality of the material used is second to none, as is standard with Logitech products. The really nice feature is the boom for the mic; it actually flexes to the proper position and the mute button on the side of the headset has a red light at the end of the mic that will illuminate when the headset is muted. Then, when you hit the mute button again, it is extinguished. This is great if you're in a long conference call and need to use the loo without missing a beat. (Don't judge, we've all done it!)

Best headset in the World!
Posted by: Coolguy112 from: Jacksonville, Fl on
I don't usually write reviews, but when I do it's because I love the product. This headset has amazing sound and voice quality. Additionally, they are extremely comfortable. The initial set up was a breeze, just put disc, install, and connect. That's it! You'll be listening to 7.1 surround sound in no time. They might be a bit expensive, but trust me when I say you will get your money's worth. If your looking for a wireless, surround sound, amazing voice, and stylish headset, stop here because you have found it!! If you don't believe me take a look on YouTube for some reviews, I guarantee you will see nothing but positive reviews. =D

Great Gaming Headset but the software has a glitch
Posted by: Dino from: Richmond, VA on
This Headset requires the "Logitech Gaming Software" installed on the computer the glitch is that the headset will turn off in 15 minutes all the time.. you need to edit this file
C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software\Resources\G930\Manifest\Device_Manifest.xml
Find: battery turnOffInterval="900"
And replace it with : battery turnOffInterval="0"
If you're not techy to fix this do NOT buy this headset.

LOVE this headset!
Posted by: gamergirl90 from: Bay Area, CA on
I got this pair last Christmas as a gift, and have LOVED them from the moment they were installed. I use them for a combination of online gaming, music production, and Skype. The microphone quality is awesome and clear and the sound quality of the speakers is (in my opinion) top notch.
The microphone arm is encased in a SLIGHTLY adjustable rubber sleeve. I like that you can either mute the mic with a button or by flipping the microphone all the way up (with a little light to let you know that you're muted). Mine started to tear close to the headset because I was a little rough with it and kept falling asleep in them.
yes, i said FALLING ASLEEP IN THE HEADPHONES
These things were beyond comfortable for me. They weren't as comfortable when I was wearing my glasses, so if you are a no-contacts person, this headset may become uncomfortable pretty fast. They do hug your head, like other reviewers say, but I didn't find them too tight. They had plenty of room for my ears and didn't pinch or press anywhere. My fiance has the same pair and we have very differently sized heads and ears and we both love this headset.
Another neat feature of these headphones is the little switch on the back by the power button that lets you choose between surround sound and simple stereo. really nice if you're watching a movie, mixing tracks, or even shooting zombies.
Sadly, my pair stopped charging because the charger port got loose on the inside (again, probably due to my falling asleep in the headphones on Skype) so I'm out to buy another pair just like it.
Also, the voice altering settings in the software are pretty fun to play with.

Very nice sound quality
Posted by: Brfb from: on
I'm exceptionally picky with how things sound. I get frustrated personally if I cannot hear certain ranges when I listen to my music such as dubstep. In every situation this headset is very ideal and exceptional when coming to being able to catch all ranges of the bass.
Surround sound works perfectly in video gaming, I game on average for 4 hours a day and the headset hasnt bothered me on comfort at all either.
The microphone works well and is crystal clear.
Cons- charger (plug in to the headset) in my experience (have had to return 2 already) will eventually break and you will be unable to charge the headset. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get the insurance for this. Its personally worth it for the sound quality but one day you will plug it in and it wont charge. #sadlife (mine actually just broke again, a little disappointed which encouraged me to write the review, might swap off to astro a40 because of this issue.)
I've had an issue before where I believe one of the cups(dust cap) ( came loose and the sound was almost static like, there was no fix. Best buy is very reasonable when it comes to returning their products under insurance but just know that when you go to buy this headset it has a tendency to break in the charging area.
The usb plug in wireless adapter will also sometimes loose connection. my friend had the same issue, this was fixed by an upgrade in software however so you are required to upgrade the software if you do not do so or the product you purchase does not come with it.
True specs - The range is about 20m (thru 2 walls about a foot thick) and it will still work fine, it will cut in and out however sometimes in that scenario.
Charge will last between 7-9 hours depending on age.
Has an equalizer, if you wish to listen to dubstep clearly you have to go to advanced equalizer settings (in software given)
32- 2nd bar from top
64 - 2nd bar from top
125 - in between 2nd bar from top and 3rd
250 - 4th bar from top
500/1k/2k - middle (5th bar)
4k - in between 2nd bar from top and 3rd
8k - 2nd bar from top
16k - in between 3rd bar from top and 4th
Overall, the sound is crisp and that's what I love about it. I also appreciate the surround sound for gameplay(very accurate in location). Microphone is very nice and comfortable, (will pick up people talking in the background). I love this headset, its just too bad the charger plug in keeps malfunctioning.

Great for Gamers
Posted by: Lheage from: South Carolina on
I play video games on my PC very frequently, and I need a good headset with a good microphone so I can communicate with my party members.
The sound is amazing. It sounds good on surround sound or without. Im told I sound clear and good on my microphone as well, which is important.
I generally use the headset for World of Warcraft and Ventrilo. I have used it with Skype and found that it works very well with Skype and I am usually streaming music while im talking to people and playing a game, and the headset handles all of that very well.
The only complaint I have is the top of the headset has a little too much plastic and not enough cushion which can make it uncomfortable if not angled just right, otherwise, the headset is very comfortable around the ears.
The battery life is very nice as well, although the alert that lets you know when it is running low is not really loud enough and sometimes I miss the notification.

Better than wired
Posted by: DoomsDay from: Anniston, Al on
I purchased these to replace a set of Plantronics - GameCom 777, that lasted just over a year before the broke. This headset initially was uncomfortable, but after a couple of days I got to where I could wear them for 6-8 hours without any discomfort. The installation and set up was a breeze. Stuck the installation disk in and it asked if I wanted to check for updated drivers. My OS is Windows 7 64 bit, it did its thing and I did mine, was up and running in a few minutes. This headset claims a range of 40ft from the receiver. I have had them out to 50ft without a signal loss of any type. They have actually improved my gaming due to the great surround sound output. Bluray videos sound absolutely theater quality. I probably should go back and buy another set in case something happens to these or before they stop manufacturing them. Don't stop go buy these headphones they are truly remarkable. I generally do not write reviews on products, but these have totally impressed me with their sound quality. I just hope they are more durable than the plantronics.

Great Wireless Headset
Posted by: Gamerofthrones from: Sacramento, CA on
I have used the wired version of this headset for the last 3 years. The ear cups on those finally wore out, so I decided to get another pair. Since the G930 was on sale ,I jumped at the chance to go wireless. These headsets fit the same as the wired, sound just like the wired, and have great range so if you have to get up away from the keyboard for some reason, you won't have to worry about the headphone pulling off your head because you forgot to take them off . I would recommend this product. It is a great wireless headset for the price.
