needs app to to act as remote, works with echo
Posted by: Will from: on
Once integrated the NEWEST version of the Harmony app and the echo dot will now able to control the Television, Cable box and Ro\ku.. No need for a third party app like yonomi. Alexa Turn on Netflix is now working.. You need the app on your smartphone or you can use the pc to set it up as well.

This is finally what I've been looking for. After using several different Harmony remotes and then switching to the Griffin Beacon, this is finally what I was looking for. It was incredibly easy to set up and it just works. There is not a lot to customize, but then again you don't really need to either. The bluetooth pairing is in the hub itself so you can use several different devices (mine are iPhones) over Wi Fi to control the hub. The remote functions on iOS work great. No problems at all!

Pro: able to control everything that I could control. Able to set a time to turn whatever you want on. Nice feature if you're routinely home at the same time everyday. Able to control the Xbox One, to choose and navigate Netflix and other apps. I'm extremely happy with this Home Hub.
Con: The instructions are very limited. Took me a while to figure out how to program sequences. A few trial and error sessions. 45 minutes to program 3 different sequences.
Overall: I would recommend this to anyone looking for a all-in-one remote.

Purchased this for Xmas as a "family" gift and I had trepidation about setting it up after reading all of the negative "install" comments. Figured, we'd wade through and once it was setup, it'd be great. Well, we had it all setup in less than an hour and had complex devices, so I'm not sure about all the negativity. We even have it setup to run a RasPlex (Rasberry Pi device that runs our Plex TV/Movies). Had to program a few buttons, but it worked fine. In fact, we learned a few things about our Sony home entertainment system and was able to handle the lag time and some of the input cycles. The Activity setup was very easy to figure out if you just read the instructions. Never had to call support for any reason as their website was pretty helpful on how to get the unusual devices to work.
Setup: 5 year old Sharp TV, 6 year old Sony Home Entertainment system, TiVo, Xbox 360 and a RasPlex. All iOS 8 devices. We setup the software on an older iPad Mini, a regular iPad and 3 iPhone 6's as well as ran the MyHarmony software on one of the MBP's just to see how that software looked.
We created 3 separate "Activities" (Watch TV : Watch Plex : Play XBox) and now everything switches on and setups beautifully for each need making it ready to go with one button click. Remotes work great and the setup was all less than an hour, although we fiddled trying to get it to turn on more obscure devices like our IR fireplace. No go on that one, but we tried. So, I am very pleased with this system and even impressed that we got the RasPlex to work and all for $100 bucks.
Can't go wrong with this solution, even if it takes a little setup time, definately worth not having ANY remotes on the ottoman or coffee table. They're all tucked away in a drawer for emergencies.

Did what it is supposed to
Posted by: AQPryde from: on
Integrated it into my alexa/smartthings system. Extremely complex setup, and insanely slow due to it's cloud only interface. Once setup it works okay 9 out of 10 times, but when it goofs it is REAL pain to get it back to working.

The hub works as advertised. It is easy to setup. The only draw back Is it needs to be positioned in front of the components to pass the signal. Your iPhone becomes your remote control.

Works with Amazon Echo (kind of)!
Posted by: BGDOGY from: Portsmouth, VA on
I got it set up to work with my Amazon Echo, so now I can turn my TV on by just speaking to it. It still has some quirks, I can't get it to change to all of the channels. I think I will have to work on the station names. It works real well using my iPhone, but that is not why I bought it, I want it to work with the Amazon Echo. As long as you have a supported Harmony remote, the basic setup was easy.

Over priced and doesn't really work.
Posted by: JrFaust from: on
I haven't used the hub much because it won't pair with my Ultimate One yet. Logitech stated a firmware update to unify the the home hubs and smart hub would be out by but they have yet to make good on that. And I haven't tested but other have stated the hub will no longer connect to smart devices after one of the latest firmware updates. Logitech's response to the issues isn't promising, see link to their support forum.

Doesn't Support IFTTT for Devices
Posted by: Kicho from: on
The device doesn't support IFTTT commands for individual Devices. It only supports Activities.
Spent around 10 hours trying to get help and support and finally got it set up to barely work. Tech support is horrible.
My smart IR curtains get counted as a device per curtain. And since you're only allowed 8 devices, this makes it pointless to own in conjunction to my home theater system. I would need three home hubs to get my curtains and home theater system to work.
