Overview

Synopsis

The Legend of Marilyn Monroe
Academy Award-winning director John Huston narrates this profile of legendary Hollywood beauty Marilyn Monrie produced by Emmy Award-winner David L. Wolper and directed by Academy Award-winner Terry Sanders. Released into theaters in 1964 and subsequently shelved for over thirty years, The Legend of Marilyn Monroe draws on never-before-seen film footage, candid photographs, and personal interviews to paint a vivid portrait of the world's most famous actress. As family, friends, and colleagues reveal their inner most secrets, Monroe triumphs, failures, and untimely demise comes into focus as never before. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Home Town Story
Home Town Story was commissioned as a pro-Big Business tract by General Motors. The story revolves around Blake Washburn, a mildly leftist newspaperman, played by Jeffrey Lynn. Returning to his home town, Washburn turns his journalistic vitriol upon the local business interests. Only after his kid sister Katie (Melinda Plowman), trapped in a cave-in, is rescued by locally produced technology, does Washburn realize the value of the capitalistic system. Home Town Story was fitfully distributed by MGM, then lapsed into obscurity. It might have remained there had it not been for the presence of a young Marilyn Monroe in a supporting part. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
