Perfect laptop/desktop replacement. Posted by: from: on I have to say that I am very impressed with the surface pro 4. I bought it originally with the main intent of using it for my digital art because of the surface pen. However, I am now using this as my main computer because it works so well. It runs all the software I need it to, and it usually gets me about 4 hours of battery life with heavy to moderate use. I was concerned a little at first that the stand would make it awkward to hold in my lap but it actually works quite well. The only disappointment that I have is that the stylus really isn't safe to keep magnetically attached to the surface. Once when I was trying to lay my surface down on a table, my hand bumped the stylus just enough that it separated from the surface and fell down on the screen. Unfortunately I got one dead pixel due to the impact. That kind of thing doesn't seem like something that would cause a dead pixel, so the screens may be a little delicate - just a FYI. Be careful. :)

Great computer for school! Posted by: from: on Using the surface pen has saved me time when writing notes in class and organizing/locating notes. It's useful that this computer is designed to work well with OneNote because it makes writing seamless and documents accessible. I purchased a 128 GB, 4 RAM, i5 model and it does everything I want it to. If you are planning to use this computer for extensive media editing, I would recommend purchasing a model with higher memory, RAM and better i7 processor. The rear and front-end cameras are not the best so do not expect very good quality photos and videos. There's only one USB hub so that get's frustrating. I would recommended investing in a USB hub extension. Retina scan log-in is seamless and easy to use. Battery life could be better. I would recommend using it for work near an outlet. There are battery expansions you can buy but they are very expansive. Minecraft works well on it but I'm not sure about other video games.

Finally, a tablet that can replace a laptop Posted by: from: West Virginia on I have tried several tablets and keyboard combinations over the last few years, including iPad, and all have had issues with slow performance, keyboards that don't fully integrate with applications, but most of all, not having full desktop applications. The Surface Pro 4 fulfills all these requirements and has fully replaced my other laptop at half the weight with a full tablet for entertainment. The only issue I have had is it acts up, like my laptop does, and I chased this to when Microsoft is pushing updates over a wireless connection. I just changed the setting to not do automatic updates and all issues disappear. I just manually check for updates every few days. Microsoft needs to add a setting the limits updates to 10% of the available bandwidth.

Awesome Posted by: from: on So far I love my surface pro 4. I do a decent amount of photo editing and I hate being tied to my main computer for it, even though it has a much bigger screen (32"). The pro 4 gives me the ability to offload the memory card from my camera and then do some editing on them while away from the house. I decided to go with the pro 4 instead of a laptop or tablet because I dont get along with apple products and really didnt want the bulk of a laptop, and an adroid tablet wont do anything my note 4 wont already do. Actually I prefer this to my desktop because I can take it with me pretty much anywhere! The only thing I have found that I really dont like or use is the keyboard (except i did write this review with it). I have big hands and the keyboard is about the size of a regular laptop keyboard. Not really a negative thing, Im just used to a regular size keyboard. I have had a couple issues with windows, but nothing that a reboot didnt fix. If you are still reading then I hope this helps. The surface pro 4 wont replace a brand new, top of the line desktop, but it is pretty comparable to a desktop from 2 or 3 years ago!

Good Improvement from Surface Pro 3 Posted by: from: on I had to replace my Surface Pro 3 after it was stolen, so I considered both the Pro 4 and iPad Pro as replacements. I chose to stick with the Surface Pro 4 because of its full OS rather than the mobile iOS of the iPad. Windows 10 has its problems, such as the Pro 4 turning on but not showing the log in screen (that requires a hard restart to fix), but overall, I like the features. The new Surface Pen is better than the Pro 3's pen - it is more sensitive and more accurate. The magnetic strip on the side of the pen is very convenient. I have to say one of the coolest features is Windows Hello (facial recognition login). It doesn't help me get anything done for school/work, but it's just a neat feature. I would recommend the Surface Pro 4 over the iPad Pro.

Had a problem right away - Best Buy fixed it asap Posted by: from: on Our daughter starts college in a few days. I wanted her to try the highly rated Lenovo Ideapad, but she had her heart set on the Microsoft Surface Pro. How do you say no to the most important tool to start her college career? I'm a diehard Apple buyer. They earned my business years ago by fixing my MacBook three times for free after the warranty expired. But our daughter wanted the Surface Pro and the people in the Architecture department at her school told us much of the software that they use is not Mac friendly. Within a few days, her new Surface Pro locked up and would not shut off or reboot. The friendly, helpful folks at Best Buy gave her a brand new one right away - no questions asked. Even though we didn't need to use the GeekSquad coverage in this case, it made me glad we bought it. I'm sure that thing will take more than a few knocks. We also had a problem with the stylus pen coming apart, but that was included with the new replacement one they gave us. Also, Best Buy had the best price and they offered a $150 coupon for college students which paid for the optional keyboard and a case.

Thrilled with my Surface Pro 4 i5/4GB/128GB Posted by: from: on Bought the Surface Pro 4 after reading tons of reviews and comparing it with other Windows laptops like Dell XPS, Lenovo Yoga etc. The specs on the Surface Pro 4 are equal or even better than most of the competitors. The single most important feature in my opinion is the touch screen. Have yet to see such a fantastic high resolution screen with almost zero latency on any of the other touch screen laptops I have seen. I went for a i5 4GB/128GB machine which best suited my needs in the Surface Pro 4 lineup. Unless you are a power user, you can safely settle on this model. I would avoid going for the base model since it can be slow even for routine tasks like watching YouTube or web surfing. I feel the Surface Pro line has matured beautifully over the years and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Windows machine.

I love my Surface Pro Posted by: from: on I purchased this shortly after reading reviews and having my Macbook Pro break down because I was in the market for a new computer. I wanted to have portability but not lose functionality so I was looking at a Macbook Air, an iPad or this Surface Pro.I needed it for both personal and business use. I had always been a fan of this product since I went to my local Microsoft Store two years ago to check it out. I got sold on this product because of the fact that I can have the best of both a tablet and a computer and the fact that most applications that I ran are Windows based. I am a vivid Apple fan and loyal customer but I figured this was the best product for me so I went to Best Buy and purchased it. I am in love with this product. I use it every day and the stylus is very useful for taking notes. Cortana works exactly for what I need it for and I am not losing functionality with this little guy. Definitely recommended!

VERY USEFUL AND CONVENIENT Posted by: from: on I have been interested in the Surface products since they were introduced, but am glad that I waited for the Surface Pro 4. Reviews online stated that the Pro 4 had the features to make it worth purchasing. I love the size, weight, and touch screen. I also purchased the keyboard to use for school assignments and written documents. Very glad I did. The keys are very responsive and feel just like the laptop I normally use. I am just now experimenting with the pen and One Note. I teach art so I wanted to have this product to draw sample lessons for my class. The features are quite nice, many options for color, line thickness, etc. One issue, though I am still experimenting on capabilities, came when I drew a very detailed picture. Once the screen got quite full, I continued to get a message, "Not responding". Could have been a one-time issue, but I will continue to work with this product to find its maximum potential. Overall, I love it. Keep in mind that I am still learning about technology as I use it for my classroom and don't consider myself an expert of any sort!

Extremely disappointed. Posted by: from: on After exchanging this item 3 times, I finally gave up and got a refund. All 4 Surfaces had dead pixels on the screen. None of them would rewind a youtube video without pixilation and stuttering when restarted. One of them went into a continuous loop and would not boot. I wanted to like the Surface and gave it a fair shot but I would not recommend it to anyone. It is flat out too buggy.
