Swap between a variety of metal thumbsticks and D-pads for personalized control and ergonomics.
Discover configurations that can improve accuracy, speed, and reach with thumbsticks of different shapes and sizes. The Xbox Elite controller adapts to your hand size and play style.
You'll experience better control whether you play FPS, racing, fighting, or other genres.
The new, faceted D-pad enables easier and more reliable combo execution, while the traditional D-pad provides precise control to change weapons or call in a strike.
Control, combinations, and confidence:
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller has four slots for interchangeable paddles.
Easily attach and remove them without any tools. Choose to attach some or all of the paddles, and configure the controller to what's best for you.
The paddles give your fingers more control, so you can execute devastating moves and experience more efficient control.
Now you don't have to take your thumbs off the thumbstick to execute intricate jump, aim, and shoot combinations. With the app*, you can assign a wide range of inputs to each paddle.
Fire faster with Hair Trigger Locks:
With the flip of the Hair Trigger Locks, you can fire more quickly and save valuable time with each trigger pull.
Hair Trigger Locks stop the trigger movement after the shot and get you ready for the next one. Simply flip the switch again to get back to full-range trigger motion.
Each trigger has its own Hair Trigger Lock for independent control. Within the app, you can further fine-tune trigger settings.
Infinite freedom and flexibility:
Customize your experience even further with an easy-to-use app*. Adjust trigger min/max values, thumbstick sensitivities, button assignments, and more, so the controls are exactly the way you want them.
Assign any of 14 inputs to the ABXY buttons, paddles, D-pad, triggers, and thumbstick clicks.
Create as many controller profiles as you like in the app and have tailored settings for any game. Load two profiles on the controller and instantly change between them with the built-in Profile Switch. The possibilities are virtually limitless.
This is what performance feels like:
Every surface and detail is designed to meet the rigorous demands of competitive gamers.
Stainless steel thumbstick shafts, D-pads, and paddles are built to last. Low-friction, reinforced rings around each thumbstick minimize wear and provide buttery-smooth action.
Rubberized diamond grip gives the controller a more substantial feel while providing more stability. The enhanced grip also allows you to hold the controller with less effort, so you can play longer and more comfortably.
The soft-touch finish on the top case provides a luxurious feel and nonslip control.
Be ready for anything, anywhere:
Each profile you create in the app* is stored in the cloud, and 2 profiles can be saved onto the controller itself. So no matter where you game, your profiles can always be with you.
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller comes with a carrying case and variety of interchangeable components.

Good quality, but buy the insurance
Posted by: Sharkie from: on
The controller has a solid build quality, but has two potential issues:
1) The sticks are the exact same part as found on the standard controller, and as such have the potential to develop "stick drift". At this point, there is no option for repair. Buy the insurance and replace it.
2) The shoulder buttons are actually a single piece of plastic resting with tension over a single pivot beneath the Guide button. In some situations, this piece of plastic can be brittle and break, causing one or both shoulder buttons to no longer work. At this point, there is no way to repair the controller. Buy the insurance and replace it.
Unfortunately, Microsoft only offers a 90-day warranty for their premium controller, so it is well worth the $20 for two years of coverage on your $150 controller. BB has been super-easy and very friendly when it comes to the actual exchange process, so no matter how gentle you plan to be with your new toy, BUY THE INSURANCE.

SHORT LIFESPAN SHORTER WARRENTY
Posted by: gameralex from: on
started out as a 4 star controller only issue i had was a picky d-pad that didnt always register being pressed down unless more pressure was applied then the other 3 directions
as for everything else the controller feels amazing, works with previous play and charge kits, HAD flawless input other then the picky dpad which i decided to live with. paddles work/felt/fit good and you could do alot more with it then the standard controllers like the hair trigger locks and the ability to switch button mapping between two presets.
about 4 months into the lifespan and ive noticed that my right thumbstick was starting to wander on screen. opened up the accesories app to confirm that it is sticking up and sometimes wont even register going down. checked the left stick even though i didnt notice anything in game and its wandering too but to the right.
warrenty only covers 90 days which is sad for a controller that costs half the price of the console

Controller Does Not Last!
Posted by: Cubsfan3493 from: on
The Xbox One Elite Controller is great! While it works. I have had to replace my original twice with a new one. The build quality is great and feels great in the hands, heavy and feels well built, however after using it for one or two months, the bumpers start to break off and joysticks start to pull in all directions when not touched. Maybe my third controller will work better, but I am 0 for 2 with working controllers and Xbox Customer Support is a beating. They are arguing that the warranty on my replacement controller is no good because I purchased the first one in April, and had it replaced at the end of May. The 90 day warranty (not 1 year as best buy claimed) should be from the time that the warranty was replaced but they are not honoring their products. I am extremely disappointed with the customer support of Microsoft, especially since the controller costs three times as much as their standard controller. Buyer beware! Or at least buy the extended warranty through Best Buy!!!

Do not purchase product. I was a fan of xbox and am a PC gamer. I have the old xbox 360 controller and was very excited to hear about the xbox one elite controller. I purchased one for use on my pc window 10. No problems connecting. The biggest issue was when I started to play with it that within two weeks the left button broke off. So being a fan of xbox and PC... I brushed it off as it was just this one controller that was defective and I went and bought another and another. They all had the same problem which was after playing with it for sometime the left button would break off. I play shooter and rpg games, that we all know require hardcore repetitive button play and for a controller that advertises it self for the hardcore gamers and competitive gamers. This is not a product that meets the standards. See photos below.

Not worth the money
Posted by: Ally from: on
We bought this item when they first came out, and really enjoyed the controller. Recently the left stick started to "drift" when using the controller. We called Microsoft to talk to them about possibly getting some sort help getting it repaired, but they were no help. We actually found out that the internal components of this remote are exactly the same as the normal xbox controllers. SO you are paying $150 for basically a normal xbox controller with a few extra buttons on the back, and some rubber grips. Nothing inside was upgraded to make this a better controller, or anywhere near what they are charging for it.
Microsoft was of no help, and there is no way to repair the controller. They know that this is an issue, and many other people that have purchased this controller have the same issues after using it for a while. Ours did not last 8 months of use before breaking.
If you need more info about how big of an issue these are becoming, check out reddit!!

BEST CONTROLLER EVER!!!
Posted by: Nemo from: on
I have been waiting for a fully customizable controller for over 2 decades. The XB1 Elite Controller allows most buttons (minus guide/start) to be remapped in the downloadable app from Microsoft store (easy to do).
I enjoy kicking my friends butt... even with my physical handicap!!! With past controllers and not having the full ability to use my undeveloped left arm/hand, I had to throw grenades (left trigger) by tilting the controller onto my left knee. The left bumper is useless for me aswell. But... both these buttons have been remapped to the paddles on the right underneath the controller. WOW! What a huge difference. Very pleased with the quality and build of this controller. This is a must for all handicapable people out there! Thanks Microsoft. (:

The Xbox already has one of the most well designed controllers out there, and this one refines it to perfection. Everything about this exudes quality, from the high end packaging, to the case, to the controller itself. It is a joy to hold and you immediately get a feeling of quality and fit and finish that is unparalleled in Xbox controllers. All of the interchangeable parts lock in magnetically, no friction tension parts to wear out, no wondering if it is going in the right way, they just lock into place and are secure but easy to remove when you want to customize the controller. The long throw sticks are perfect for driving games or other precision uses, and the two profiles allow for on the fly switching of sensitivity, a great feature for running around and then switching to a lower sensitivity mode for careful aiming. The mappable under paddles mean you can map buttons that would normally take your thumbs off of the sticks to your other fingers. The hair trigger locks are great, I tend to set the right one for hair trigger and the other for long throw for aiming.
I also like that this controller, like all of the other Xbox controllers, just uses two AA batteries. Sealed in batteries means that you can't just swap in new ones and keep going - and when they eventually wear out, it means a new controller. I use high capacity rechargeable batteries in mine. It also comes with a nice long braided USB cable if you need to use it wired.
This controller allowes for you to customize it exactly to your gaming style and it is the ultimate Xbox controller. Recommended for gamers who are looking for the very best and are willing to pay the price for this controller.

I understand why it's in such high demand
Posted by: Joel from: on
This controller is build with very high quality standards. One thing I didn't see in the other reviews is how responsive the sticks are. They have a little extra spring to them. At first it seemed kind of strange, and I didn't even realize it was on purpose until I grabbed the normal version of the controller to help my son out with a game. At first I thought the controller was broken because the stick felt kind of mushy. I grabbed the second non elite controller to see if something was wrong. There was not, the Elite just has a superior feel to it. Beyond that, the paddles are great. It takes some time to adjust to the new buttons, but I had them worked out in a session or two. Many of the other things you have read are true including, great software, nice quality attachments ,and incredible flexibility. I'm no a pro gamer, but I appreciate this device. I use it on both Xbox One and Windows 10. The software and hardware works equally perfect on both. Microsoft did a really nice job.

It's good but not great.
Posted by: Derp from: on
A moderate improvement on the Xbox controller. Especially for intensive PC competitive play. I'd say it mildly put its on par with a keyboard and mouse, but they are conpletly on the same playing field. But the reality is unless you are good you aren't going to get drastically better. But if you are a upper echelon competitive player than you can appreciate the mild differences in this controller. I haven't given more than 3 stars because I think there is a great deal of room for improvement. And the paddle stick attachments are conpletly worthless for OG gamers like myself as you already have the muscle memory for the old layout. For me that's why I use this over my mechanical peripherals. I grew up playing consoles and I really play better with a controller in my hand. This controller is definitely it for you if you are like me. But the price tag seems a bit excessive for the finalized product. It just seems lacking
Major plus on the ballistic nylon cable.

Solid controller, but disappointed
Posted by: NickG from: on
This is a great idea, but I have to say it's not perfect. The additional vibration motors in the triggers, the added weight, the solid feeling of this controller make this thing absolutely incredible. The magnetic attachment of all the interchangeable parts is a geeky touch that works well.
My problem comes with the rear paddles. They're not customizable enough; I find they get in the way more often than not. I have fairly large hands, so I often end up clicking accidentally when clicking the sticks or simply making a quick reactionary move to the thumb buttons. I've tried dropping a pair of the paddles, but it's no use, my fingers are always against whatever set of paddles is there, and I always manage to hit them by accident, which is no good when playing FPS/twitch games.
I want to love this controller, I really do, but I'm afraid I'm just going to have to give it up.
