How can I join My Best Buy?

You can join now on BestBuy.com by creating an account. You can also join My Best Buy in any Best Buy store.

My Best Buy is free to join and there's no ongoing membership fee.

You begin getting points for qualifying purchases as soon as you join the program. They become usable 15 days from purchase or time of shipment.

My Best Buy is open to individual U.S. (50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico) residents at least 13 years of age who provide and maintain a valid e-mail address. If you are between 13 years of age and the age of majority (18 or 19 years old, depending on your state) you must obtain permission from your parent or legal guardian before signing up for the program.

Elite and Elite Plus

Elite and Elite Plus members receive enhanced benefits. Members qualify for Elite or Elite Plus status based on their annual spending at Best Buy. See Program Terms for details.

Elite status is automatically awarded when you spend $1,500 or more on qualifying purchases at Best Buy and BestBuy.com in a calendar year, or $1,500 or more in total anywhere on the My Best Buy Visa®.

Elite Plus status is automatically awarded when you spend $3,500 or more on qualifying purchases at Best Buy and BestBuy.com in a calendar year, $3,500 or more in total anywhere on the My Best Buy Visa.

Status begins when you qualify, continues through the end of the following calendar year, and ends on the last day of the following February. In any subsequent year, a member may re-qualify for status when the member reaches the published spend requirement on qualifying purchases at Best Buy or BestBuy.com during the calendar year, or the spend requirement on the My Best Buy Visa.

No. There are no fees to become a member.

My Best Buy Elite members have 30 days and My Best Buy Elite Plus members have 45 days from the date of the transaction to return or exchange qualifying Best Buy and BestBuy.com purchases.

You can return or exchange cell phones with a carrier contract and unlocked phones within 14 days. Like the carrier stores, we have a charge ($35) for return or exchange of these products. This return period and charge also apply if you are a My Best Buy Elite or Elite Plus member.

Best Buy Home Security powered by Vivint has a 15 day return policy for all customers, including My Best Buy Elite and My Best Buy Elite Plus customers.

My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members may choose to save points until ready to issue reward certificates. Check your certificate preference now.

My Best Buy Credit Cards

Best Buy purchases using standard credit:
Get 2.5 points for every $1 spent (that's 5% back) on qualifying Best Buy purchases on the card using standard credit.

Best Buy purchases using promotional credit:
Purchases made on your credit card using promotional credit do not qualify for points but will continue to count toward My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus status.

My Best Buy Visa non-Best Buy purchases:
Get 1 point for every $1 (2% back in rewards) spent on qualifying dining and grocery purchases.

Get 1 point for every $2 (1% back in rewards) spent on other Visa purchases outside Best Buy. Purchases made at Pacific Sales Kitchen & Home Stores outside of Best Buy locations are excluded.

My Best Buy Game Pre-Order $10 Reward Certificate

To be eligible for this offer, you must be a My Best Buy® member and meet minimum age requirements for the game at time of street date or store pickup. Sign in to your My Best Buy account. Click on Account in the top right corner of the page. Under the Rewards tab, select Overview. Your Gamers Club Unlocked status will display on the right hand side of the page.

The Gamers Club Unlocked program is a 2-year paid membership and is valid in the 50 U.S./D.C. and Puerto Rico. You may enroll in Gamers Club Unlocked in one of the following ways:

Best Buy Stores: Purchase a membership card in a Best Buy store at the then-current 2-year purchase price plus sales tax. Once you purchase the membership card, you are enrolled in the program. Benefits can take up to 24 hours to begin after successful enrollment.

BestBuy.com: Purchase a membership on BestBuy.com at the then-current 2-year purchase price plus sales tax. You must be logged into your My Best Buy account in order to purchase a membership online. Benefits can take up to 24 hours to begin after successful enrollment.

Yes, you may purchase a Gamers Club Unlocked membership for someone else:

BestBuy.com: Purchase the gifting membership card on BestBuy.com at the then-current 2-year purchase price plus sales tax and applicable shipping charges. Purchasing the membership card does not enroll the recipient into the program. The recipient of the membership card must personally bring the card to a Best Buy store by the deadline printed on the card to complete enrollment, or membership and paid purchase price will be forfeited. Benefits can take up to 24 hours to begin after successful enrollment.

Yes, members are limited to 3 copies of each video game title (excludes pre-owned video games and digital gaming) per platform, per year, per member.

Collector's Editions and Limited Editions would count toward your limit for that title. However, Game of the Year Editions, usually released with additional content much later than the original version, do not count toward the original game title's limit but would count as a separate game title and limit.

No, a free game does not count toward your limit for that title. Only qualifying games purchased using your 20% discount count toward your limit of 3.

No, a digital copy included in a bundle does not count toward your limit for that title. Only qualifying games purchased using your 20% discount count toward your limit of 3.

No, it applies to all new physical video games, regardless of platform and includes PC games (excludes pre-owned video games and digital gaming). Limit of 3 for each title per platform, per year, per member.

Yes, My Best Buy offers stack on top of your 20% discount. For example, if you are eligible for reward certificates or a discount as part of a My Best Buy promotion, you will get your 20% discount plus the other offer's reward certificates or discount. Here's an example:

You pre-order a video game as part of a My Best Buy promotion which offers 500 My Best Buy points worth $10 in reward certificates for pre-ordering that title in store. You then become a Gamers Club Unlocked member before you pick up and purchase the video game at the store. You get both the My Best Buy points and the 20% discount. If it's a $60 game, you get $22 worth of benefits in one transaction.

This will depend on whether you placed your pre-orders in store or through BestBuy.com.

In Store: If you pre-ordered in store, you will receive the 20% discount as long as you are an active Gamers Club Unlocked member when you pick up and purchase your pre-order. You will need to make sure that your My Best Buy account is added to the transaction before you complete your purchase.

BestBuy.com: If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com for either store pickup or shipping, we are not able to add the 20% discount to your existing order. To get the 20% discount, you will either need to cancel and repurchase your pre-order or to return and repurchase the game once you receive it. To receive the 20% discount going forward, you will need to make sure that you are signed in to your BestBuy.com account when you place an order and have your My Best Buy account linked to your BestBuy.com account.

No, you get the 20% discount immediately when you purchase your new games. Other promotions may deliver benefits on the back end, but not your 20% discount.

No, you would receive either the price match or the 20% discount, whichever is the lowest price. You would not be able to get both.

Best Buy takes the discounted My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked price into account prior to a price match request. For example, if Best Buy sells a new game for $59.99, a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member will be able to buy it for $47.99 plus tax. $47.99 is the price we would compare for price match purposes. If a competitor sells the game for $49.99, there would not be a need for a price match as the Best Buy price is lower. If a competitor sells a game for $44.99, we would match that price and sell a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member the game for $44.99 plus tax with no additional discount. If Best Buy lowers our price during the return and exchange period on a My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked purchase, we will, upon request, apply the 20% discount on the new lower price. For example, if a Gamers Club Unlocked member paid $47.99 for a new game priced at $59.99 and Best Buy lowers the price to $49.99 during the return and exchange period, we will, upon request, price match the new price with the 20% discount and sell the My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked member the game for $39.99 plus tax.

No, the 20% discount cannot be combined with promotions advertised in Best Buy's Thanksgiving Day physical ad or expanded digital ad. Any early access offers to those promotions are also excluded from combining with the 20% discount.

Gamers Club and Gamers Club Unlocked Trade-In Points

When you trade in your games, make sure that your My Best Buy account is added to the transaction before it is completed in order to receive 2x My Best Buy points (2 times your My Best Buy program tier point) for every dollar in Best Buy gift card value on video game trade ins. Please see the Best Buy Trade-In Terms for qualifying products and details. You must be 18 or older. Not valid in Puerto Rico.

Gamers Club Unlocked 10% Bonus Trade-In Credit

When you trade in your games, tell the Customer Specialist that you are a Gamers Club Unlocked member. Make sure that your My Best Buy account is added to the transaction before it is completed in order to receive the 10% bonus trade-in credit. Please see the Best Buy Trade-In Terms for qualifying products and details. You must be 18 or older. Not valid in Puerto Rico.

Yes, it does. You will get your 10% trade-in bonus in addition to any other trade-in offers you are eligible to receive. The 10% bonus is calculated from the base value of the video game. Any promotional bonus offers are also calculated from the base value of the game. Here's an example:

A game has a $20 trade-in value, and the trade-in promotion offers a 50% trade-in bonus on all games. You get a $10 bonus for the trade-in promotion ($20 x 50% = $10) plus a $2 bonus ($20 x 10% = $2) for the Gamers Club Unlocked trade-in bonus. You get $32 worth of benefits in one transaction.

My Best Buy Offers

As part of your My Best Buy membership, you have access to these personalized offers, including great deals on some of the latest tech. They can be found in your account on BestBuy.com, and in select e-mails. Your My Best Buy Offers are just for you, and can only be redeemed using your account.

My Best Buy Offers will be sent to you via e-mail or can be found in your account on the Member Offers page. You can find this page under the Rewards header within your Account Home page on BestBuy.com or the mobile app.

This depends on how you received the offer and whether you'd like to redeem it in store or online. Some offers may be only redeemable via a specific channel.

E-mail: Click Get Offer, then click Activate Offer on the offer detail page. Once you activate, follow the directions to redeem the offer.

BestBuy.com/Mobile App: From the Member Offers page of your My Best Buy account, select the offer you want to redeem, then click Activate Offer on the offer detail page. Once you activate the offer, follow the directions to add qualifying products to your cart and apply the offer in checkout.

In Store: Print the offer detail page and present it when you check out in store. You also can have a Blue Shirt enter your phone number or scan your Member ID barcode to see all eligible My Best Buy Offers and select the offer you want to apply to your purchase.

All offers are available to view online, but some may be only redeemable via a specific channel. Please check that you are in an eligible channel for the offer you want to redeem, and that the offer has been activated. My Best Buy Offers only display in checkout if they are eligible for the items being purchased. Make sure you are purchasing an eligible product for the offer you are trying to use.

No, My Best Buy Offers can only be used once.

No, the offer is activated for your membership only.

Click See redeemed and expired offers under the My Best Buy Offers header to see if it moved there. Some offers can only be activated from e-mail and will not show on your Member Offers page until they are activated. Check your e-mail to make sure the offer was activated for your account.

Reasons for canceling offers vary, but Best Buy reserves the right to cancel or withdraw My Best Buy Offers.

Ways to Get Points

You can get points on qualifying purchases made in the following locations: Best Buy stores, BestBuy.com, Best Buy Mobile specialty stores, and Magnolia Design Centers

If you are a My Best Buy Visa Cardmember, you will also get points on nearly every purchase made at Best Buy and wherever Visa is accepted.

No. Memberships are not transferable and are only valid for use by the person who joined the program.

Calculation and Timing of Points

The changes varied by tier of the My Best Buy loyalty program and impacted our standard members and Elite members. They did not impact our Elite Plus members.

  • My Best Buy members previously received 1 point for every $1 spent. They now receive 0.5 points for every $1 spent.
  • My Best Buy Elite members previously received 1.1 points for every $1 spent. They now receive 1 point for every $1 spent.
  • My Best Buy Elite Plus members receive 1.25 points for every $1 spent. There was no change to how Elite Plus members receive points.

No. The points My Best Buy customers have previously received were not impacted.

There was no change to how customers receive points on their Best Buy credit card.

You'll get 0.5 points per one dollar ($1) you spend at Best Buy or BestBuy.com, excluding any amount spent on non-qualifying purchases. Simply show your membership card or present your phone number during checkout in a store, or enter your member ID for online purchases.

Yes. You will get points on Best Buy gift card purchases, but not on Best Buy gift card redemptions. Gift card purchases are excluded from all bonus point promotions.

Yes. Elite members get 1 point for every $1 spent on qualifying Best Buy purchases. Elite Plus members get 1.25 points for every $1 spent on qualifying Best Buy purchases.

  • Purchases made for resale
  • Purchases paid for with a reward certificate or Best Buy gift card
  • Certain charges and fees, including but not limited to sales tax, state fees, and service charges
  • Commercial purchases

For most eligible purchases, your points will post to your account approximately 15 days from your purchase date, delivery date or shipment date, with this exception:

  • Points for purchases made outside Best Buy with a My Best Buy Visa post monthly, based loosely on the credit card statement cycle.

If there is no activity on your My Best Buy account for a period of 12 consecutive months, the points in your account (excluding Elite Plus members) will be issued as reward certificates down to the $5 level and any remaining point balance will be forfeited. For example, if you have 300 points, you will receive a $5 reward certificate (250 points) and you will forfeit 50 points.

If it involves a Best Buy store or BestBuy.com purchase, please confirm it was an eligible purchase and that the item wasn't returned at a later date. A refunded item will reduce the points associated with the transaction shown on your purchase history but will not be reflected in the transaction detail. Getting Reward Certificates

A reward certificate provides a discount off the purchase of a qualifying Best Buy store or BestBuy.com purchase.

You receive a reward certificate by accumulating at least 250 My Best Buy points — 250 points equals a $5 reward certificate.

Most people will have a certificate automatically issued and emailed to them. If you’ve set your certificate preference level above 250 points or if you’re banking your points, visit the rewards overview page to issue one manually.

Elite and Elite Plus members may choose to save points until ready to issue reward certificates. Banked points do not expire until converted to reward certificates. Check your certificate preferences now.

No. Once a reward certificate has been issued, you must use it toward a purchase at Best Buy or BestBuy.com before the expiration date.

No, but you can redeem reward certificates in store on your mobile phone — no printing required when you download the free Best Buy Mobile app for iPhone or Android.

Using Reward Certificates

Reward certificates can be used toward the purchase of nearly any product or service in store or online. They may be used on any qualifying product or service in an amount greater than the value of the reward certificate, excluding sales tax. Reward certificates may be combined with other offers.

Yes, certain exclusions apply. See the Program Terms for exceptions.

Yes. Reward certificates have an expiration date printed on each certificate.

No. Reward certificates are not transferable and may only be used by the member to whom they are issued. This means that you may be required to show identification at the time of purchase. Reward certificates have no cash value.

No. As an alternative to printing, you can redeem reward certificates on your mobile phone — no printing required — just download the free Best Buy Mobile app for iPhone or Android.

Help with Certificates

You may have set your certificate preference to a level higher than your current point balance. Regardless of your selected preference, if you have at least 250 points in your account, you may issue a reward certificate.

If you lose a reward certificate you can either reprint it or access it on your mobile phone, no printing required, via the Best Buy Mobile app for iPhone or Android. When shopping in a Best Buy store you can also ask your cashier to look up your available certificates and apply them to your purchase.

No. Used or expired reward certificates cannot be replaced.

Yes. If you made a purchase using reward certificates and your order is returned or canceled, we will refund the points to your My Best Buy account, within 3–6 business days.

Your Reward Zone member ID, points and certificates will automatically roll over to My Best Buy.

Your member ID can be found on your membership card, My Best Buy credit card or on the My Best Buy overview page.
