Overview

Synopsis

National Geographic: Hidden World of the Bengal Tiger
In this hour-long documentary, the filmmakers follow a 12-year-old Bengal tigress named Lakshmi and her three tiger cubs for two full years through the Indian jungles originally made famous in Rupyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. The filmmakers are perched high atop elephants as they follow the Bengal tigers. Emphasis is placed on Lakshmi's struggle to survive and protect her young from the dangerous male tigers, and the video contains footage of Lakshmi hunting down a deer to feed her cubs. There is an element of mystery in the video, as the father of Lakshmi's cubs is found dead at one point, and Lakshmi herself disappears after being wounded, presumably by a male tiger; only at the end is the entire mystery unraveled. ~ John Schietinger, Rovi
