Awesome replacement router

I am not one to EVER write a review, but seeing as how I read most of the reviews on this model before my purchase...my 2 cents might help someone else out. This router was purchased to replace my D-Link which died on me...and what an improvement it was! Super easy and quick installation (not sure what happened with others who purchased this unit). The network was setup and I was able to connect 2 laptops (one of which has Windows 7) in under 5 minutes. I've only been up and running for about a week, but so far there have been no issues at all. Before writing this review I connected my Blu-Ray player to the network so I can stream Netflix, I think the signal strength is much better. Also the WPS feature on it is GREAT!!! Saves you a lot of time from typing in uber long network passwords on your xbox 360 controller or Blu-Ray remote.
The only thing negative I have to say is that I wish this was my first router. Hope this helps someone as it is my first ever review.

I couldn't even install the product without calling tech support.THEN, because I had continued difficulties they wanted to charge me and I hadn't even had the product 1 full day! No one spoke English well and I am so glad that I returned it. Will not even consider another Netgear product!

It does not work with 2010 or later equipement

When I called tech support they told me that it is a system issue with all of the items I own (2 new laptops, blackberry, iPod Touch, wireless printer). It is not their fault and that they are well aware of the issues and know how to fix it.
Ok. for the tech support, I purchased their plan. What a joke!!
I was one hold for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Then hung up on and put on hold again. "I will wait until a tech speaks to you." 30 minutes later I hung up. I have a timer on the phone, so I can unfortunately see how long it has been.
I had checked out Netgear on Consumer Reports and they are rated well. But this is for their higher valued items. I guess the under $60 crowd is just bad stuff.
I should have read reviews on here first and gotten a better understanding of what I was getting into.

Not sure what the reviews are about.. the only thing I can think of is those reviews that rated this product higher are from a while back. I first purchased this router despite the low ratings listed. I figured those were just flukes and I wouldn't have the same issue.
Set up the router and everything seemed fine at first. I would have given the ease of installation a good rating, but then I installed the router I got to replace this one and realized that the Netgear install wasn't hard, just annoying. After about 5 minutes of using the router, performance dropped significantly. So much so that I was able to watch videos and load websites faster on my phone. My first instinct was to blame Comcast, but after hooking up my laptop directly to the modem I found that it was in fact the routers issue. It would continue over the next few days to have about 5 min here of there of good performance, but then quickly drop off. I felt like I was in 1996 waiting for a page to load over dialup.
Finally, I exchanged the router for the same model hoping that maybe it was just the unit itself. Got home and tried to do the install. Even though the router was detected through the display lights on the front of it, and all cords were connected properly, the install program couldn't find the router. I tried several times and finally gave up and returned the product. My recommendation is to stay as far away as possible. More of a headache than anything else.
The product I ended up with is listed below. About the same price and have had absolutely no problems with it. Install was incredibly easy as well.

Inept Tech Support

Had problems with the installation of this router.
A call to Tech Support provided no answers to my problem, was on the phone for a very long time listening to broken english answers that made no sense (scripted answers). I finally gave up and told the non support man to just forget it, I would just return this item.
Router was returned and switched for a Linksys E2000 which worked right away.
Way to go Netgear, keep sending Tech Support to India.

I have literally had nothing but problems with this thing. I had to keep redoing the settings anytime my friends would come over so they could connect. Then i call to get support to get it working and in the end it was my friend that got the connection stable. Try something else.

I purchased this NETGEAR router for my apartment studio, and it was very easy to install. I connected it directly to the ethernet cable with internet connection and used the resource CD included, following the instructions on the booklet. I have used the Wi-Fi for 2 laptops and one smart phone and had no problems so far. Excellent performance for a reasonable price. I would recommend it over another brand.
