Great Camera5 Posted by: from: on This camera does a lot! So much to learn but taking it step by step. Taking action shots of our grandson playing baseball. Beautiful pics! A lot of camera for the money. Had a Nikon point & shoot before this one which was great.

awesome camera5 Posted by: from: on this is a really nice DSLR. i started out with the D3300 which i really liked then upgraded to this guy. He mostly sits on my 200-500mm lens now as i just recently got the D7200.

Great upgrade to older generation of cameras5 Posted by: from: on My older camera (still using) is a D200. So definitely this is going down to a purely consumer level rather than the prosumer level. However, the specs for the D5300 on the component level are at about the D7xxx level. So far I have been very impressed with the quality and capability of the D5300. The ISO sensitivity is many levels above the D200 and I can get much better quality pictures with this sensor and processor combination. Although the ruggedness of this camera is not up there with the D200, it has been tough enough to stand a fall from shoulder level onto thin carpeting with no problem (plastic bayonet on lens broke, but was able to replace that). It is nice that it is significantly lighter as well. It makes it much more pleasant to handle all day. As for features, they are all there. I usually shoot aperture priority, but all the normal modes are there. Overall, after about a month of use, definitely very happy with this purchase. I also decided (and still believe so) that the touchscreen (D5500) would not have been worth the extra couple hundred $. Save that money for better glass.

Quality camera, compact and sturdy5 Posted by: from: on A great camera to learn on but still take quality pictures. More compact than equivalent Canons, has 24mb sensor for HQ images, easy to navigate, manual mode is quickly learned. Pairs well with 35mm 1.8 Nikon prime lens

Great Camera5 Posted by: from: on This is a great camera. Takes beautiful pictures, has lots of features. I mostly got it to use as a "permanent" camera on my 200-500mm lens so i wasn't switching back and forth with my normal lenses as that things a beast and it's a little cumbersome to put on and off.
