What fun this popcorn maker is! When we are expecting guests, we pop up a batch of popcorn and love seeing our guests' reactions. Not only do they receive a blast of mouth-watering popcorn aroma, but their eyes light up when they see the maker for the first time. Novelty appeal aside, this maker produces great tasting popcorn. It's very easy to use and easy to keep clean. Our family uses this at least once a week for just ourselves and always when we have guests.

my first real kettle popper
Posted by: ryin33 from: Granby, MA on
This little popcorn machine is very cute and works pretty good. The few times I have used it I have come to the conclusion that it is good for 1 or 2 people per batch. I have only tried popping the amount of corn with the supplied measuring cup (1/4 cup) and it takes about 2 batches to make enough for a large bowl or a small sized 1.5oz bag. Before this popper I used a Whirlypop on the stove and because of the larger size, I am able to pop more per batch with the Whirlypop than I can with this popper and in less time. The plus side is that you can pop multiple batches ahead of time so you fill up the glass case and serve/scoop as needed, which I couldn't do with the Whirlypop. Also it has a nice little storage compartment to store popping supplies, although its also a little small. Overall I would definitely recommend going for a larger popper, at least 6oz kettle because you can always pop less per batch, but overloading is not recommended. The larger popper will stand at height easier to work with due to being taller, it will pop more corn per batch, and the storage will be larger for some of the taller items and will be easier to clean due to not being so confined.
I am going to attempt to bring this popper to a friends for a small party and see how it does keeping up to demand.
Now if you want true movie popcorn, you will need to use coconut oil, Flavacol or Paragon seasoning salt, which you put in the kettle with the oil, because salt wont stick to popped corn and you cant salt all of it. you only need about 1 tsp. of seasoning salt for this popper. Finally O'Dells Super Kist II butter flavor topping which is what theaters use. Just add the butter topping to a clear or yellow plastic mustard squeeze bottle and heat it up in a baby bottle warmer and you will have delicious warm buttery popcorn exactly like the theaters. Don't forget to use laminated popcorn bags to make it authentic and less bowls to clean

We bought this for our media room it looks great works perfectly and makes great popcorn. If there is any downside at all it's that it is a little difficult to get the inside perfectly clean as there is a small ridge so we bought a tiny brush.

Great for a party
Posted by: wrangler from: arlington texas on
The unit is pretty easy to assemble if you follow the directions closly. I was surprised at the overall quality of the machine. The base is all metal, with nice durable wheels. The glass case above is nicely built, and comes mostly assembled. The one thing I like is, the upper and lower unit are not fastened together, so transport in my car to a family party is very easy. I found that using just a little more oil than called for, and adding popcorn salt to the mix gets good results. The one thing that I am going to try to fix, are the amount of unpoped seeds that are thrown out. I am going to find two tiny magnets, and put them on the two hinged metal lids. The small amount of added weight just might work to hold in more seeds to pop. I will see about that. Overall, I really do like this popper.

Great popcorn maker
Posted by: Cyn1city from: Texas on
If I would have known I would get this much use out if a popcorn maker I would have gotten the larger size. I actually bought it to put in the media room, not thinking I would use it often. But I was so wrong. Great buy!!

Couldn't beat the price!!!!!

I really can't complain about this purchase since I got it on Thanksgiving for only 29.99 due to being mismarked!! I do really enjoy it just make sure to use the portion spoon since if you put too much popcorn in it just throw the kernels all over the place when it starts to pop.
