Frequently Asked Questions

When you set up your Pitch In Card, you'll be asked to select three security questions and provide answers to them. We'll use these questions to confirm your identity if you ever need to request a replacement card, in the event that yours is lost, stolen or damaged. It's important to note that these questions will not stop someone else from using your card if it's lost or stolen. Rather, these questions simply allow you to request a replacement card and have any remaining balance transferred to the new card.

When selecting answers to your security questions, aim for answers that you can remember but that are difficult for others to guess. If you ever need to request a replacement card, you will need to enter your answers in exactly the same way that you answer them during the set-up process.

Can I create a Pitch In Card for someone else?

A Pitch In Card needs to be set up and activated by the gift recipient. As a gift giver, you can pick up a Pitch In Card enrollment kit in any Best Buy store, and give it to that special person who's hard to shop for. Then have them activate the card on BestBuy.com or at any in-store kiosk. After that, people can simply go online and contribute.

Can I create more than one Pitch In Card?

Each BestBuy.com account may only have one Pitch In Card associated with it. To have another Pitch In Card, you would need to create another BestBuy.com account, with a different e-mail address.

Can I create a Pitch In Card and have it mailed to an international address?

Pitch In Cards and items on Wish Lists can only be picked up at US Best Buy stores or shipped to addresses in the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and to APO/FPO (military) addresses. We are not able to ship internationally to other countries.

How do I let people know that I have a Pitch In Card?

To spread the word about your Pitch In Card and Wish List, simply click on the E-mail List link on your lists page. Enter the e-mail addresses of the people you'd like to tell, along with a personal message. You can also choose a theme for your message, like birthday, Christmas, etc. We'll send out the e-mail with a link to your Pitch In Card. Note that your name and e-mail address will appear in the "From" field, so your friends will know it's from you. You can choose to share just your Pitch In Card, or your Wish List of items that includes your Pitch In Card.

When can people start contributing to my card?

If you create your Pitch In Card online, your friends and family can start contributing right away - even before you receive your physical card in the mail. (You'll need to have your physical card in hand to redeem it)

If you pick up your Pitch In Card in store, your friends and family can start contributing as soon as you activate your card online. To activate your card, go to BestBuy.com/activate.

How can people contribute to my Pitch In Card?

People can contribute to a Pitch In Card either online or at an in-store kiosk. They'll either receive a direct link to your card and Wish List via e-mail, or, depending on the privacy setting you select, they can search for your card and Wish List on BestBuy.com. The process for contributing to a Pitch In Card is similar to that of any online order.

What forms of payment can be used to contribute to someone's Pitch In Card?

Credit cards, Best Buy gift cards, a PayPal account and Best Buy store credit can all be used to contribute to a Pitch In Card. Reward certificates and promotional coupons may not be used.

How can I find my friend's Wish List and Pitch In Card online?

There are a few ways you can do this:

1. Your friend can send you a direct link to his/her Wish List and Pitch In Card via e-mail.
2. You can click on Find A List and search by your friend's list number. Your friend would need to give you his/her list number.
3. You can go to Find A List and search by your friend's name. Keep in mind, though, that some lists may be private. If your friend has designated his or her list as private, you won't be able to view it this way.

The easiest way? Encourage your friends & family to send you a link to their Wish List and Pitch In Card.

Is there a minimum or a maximum contribution amount?

Anyone can contribute any amount starting at $5.00, with a maximum of $9,999.99. The maximum amount that can be held on one Pitch In Card is $9,999.99.

How will I know when someone has contributed to my card?

You'll receive an e-mail notifying you when someone contributes to your card. To see who contributed and what amount, sign in to your BestBuy.com account to view your Account Summary. Go to Wish Lists > Pitch In Card > Account Summary.

If I contribute to someone's Pitch In Card, when will the funds be added to their card?

Pitch In Card contributions will be added to the recipient's card once the funds have been cleared. This may take up to 24 hours. Once the funds have cleared, the recipient will receive an e-mail telling them that someone has contributed to their Pitch In Card. They'll be able to see the amount and the giver's name on their Pitch In Card account summary page.

How will I know that someone has received my contribution to their Pitch In Card?

You will receive an order confirmation e-mail, just as you would for any online order.

Can I include a gift message with my contribution to a friend's Pitch In Card?

Yes. When you contribute to someone's Pitch In Card, you'll have the opportunity to e-mail them a personal gift message. Your message will be sent as soon as the funds transfer is complete.

Is there a way to use a Pitch In Card for charitable giving?

Sure. You can create a Pitch In Card and let people know in your notification e-mail that you're collecting funds for a particular cause or group. You might also want to specify a timeframe for contributions. Once you've collected the funds on your Pitch In Card, you can use your Pitch In Card to purchase a gift card (or cards) in that amount to give to your designated organization.

LOST OR STOLEN CARD

What if I lose my Pitch In Card?

Protect your Pitch In Card as you would cash. Anyone who has possession of your card can use it - just as they could use cash or a gift card. If your card is lost or stolen, request a replacement card immediately. When you request a new card, your old card will be permanently locked and any remaining balance will be transferred to your new card once you activate it online. To request a replacement card, sign in to your BestBuy.com account, click on Pitch In Card in the dropdown menu at the top, and select Request Replacement Card. Or call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).

What happens when I request a replacement card?

Once you request a replacement card, your old Pitch In Card will be permanently locked. You will not be able to accept contributions to it or use it for purchases. After you receive your replacement card and activate it online, any remaining balance from your old card will be transferred over, contributions can resume, and you can begin using your new card. All of your old card's transaction history will be erased.

How can I see the balance on my Pitch In Card?

Sign in to your BestBuy.com account. Go to Wish Lists > Pitch In Card > Account Summary. You'll be able to view your balance, contributions and transactions. You can also call the toll-free number on the back of your card.

Will other people be able to see the balance on my card?

No, visitors to your Wish List and Pitch In Card will never be able to see your card balance. This will be viewable only by you, after you've signed in to your BestBuy.com account.

What should I do with my Pitch In Card after I've used up the balance?

Keep it! Your Pitch In Card is a permanent card that is meant to be used and re-used. Hang on to it so that friends and family can contribute for the next special occasion.

Can I stop contributions to my Pitch In Card?

Yes, you can change your settings at any time to stop receiving contributions. To change your settings, sign in to your BestBuy.com account. Go to Wish Lists > Pitch In Card. Under "Your Card," select Stop Contributions. On this setting, your Pitch In Card will not be accessible to other viewers. You'll still see it in all of your Wish Lists, but visitors to your lists will not be able to see it. People will not be able to contribute to your card, but you can still use your card to shop. To begin accepting contributions again, select Accept Contributions.

Can I close my Pitch In Card and delete it from my BestBuy.com account?

Once you create a Pitch In Card, it will continue to be associated with your BestBuy.com account. However, you can change your settings at any time to stop receiving contributions to your card. To change your settings, sign in to your BestBuy.com account. Go to Wish Lists > Pitch In Card. Under "Your Card," select either Stop Contributions or Accept Contributions.

I thought I could only have one Pitch In Card, but there's a Pitch In Card appearing on all of my Wish Lists. What's going on?

When you create a Pitch In Card, it automatically appears as the first item on all of your Wish Lists. You still have only one Pitch In Card; it simply appears on all of your lists. This way, when you share your Wish Lists with others, they'll be able to see that you have a Pitch In Card and can contribute to it if they'd like. If you'd rather not receive contributions to your Pitch In Card, simply change your settings to stop contributions.

REWARD ZONE® PROGRAM

Can I earn Reward Zone points when I contribute to someone's Pitch In Card?

Yes, if you are a Reward Zone program member, you can earn points when you contribute funds to a Pitch In Card - unless you're using a gift card to pay for the Pitch In Card contribution. In accordance with Reward Zone program rules, purchases paid for with a gift card do not qualify for points.

No. Purchases paid for with a Pitch In Card (or a regular gift card) are not eligible for Reward Zone program points.

Can I use reward certificates to make a contribution to someone's Pitch In Card?

No, you can't use reward certificates to contribute funds to a Pitch In Card. You can, however, use a credit card, Best Buy gift card, PayPal account or Best Buy store credit.
